Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: Bremer's Office
Timeline: Following Bremer's previous post
ON:
Bremer had left Ops and taken a seat at his deck in his office, enjoying a cup of raktijno while he was looking over the PADD containing information regarding new crewmembers being assigned to Starbase 400, and one quickly jumped out at him, Ensign Saith i-Ki Baratan.
“A Romulan?” Mike said aloud. He took a deep breath then a sip of his drink. It wasn’t the fact she was the Romulan, the Ensign’s Starfleet Record was impressive, even if this was her first assignment. However, with the current tension level between the Federation and Romulan Empire, having another Romulan aboard could cause some uneasiness for some civilians and crewmembers.
Mike stood up and stretched. He was more than willing to give the Officer a chance, after all he already had other Romulan crewmembers and exchange officers aboard the station.
He continued to read over i-Ki Baratan’s record. She had no Romulan family listed as living, and she’d been adopted by Humans when she was younger...it reminded him of Worf actually. He took another sip of his raktijno and set the mug back into the replicator to recycle it.
It would be good having another Security Officer aboard the Station again. With his son leaving for the Academy soon and off aboard the Avenger and Chief of Security Lokran away aboard the Essex, perhaps this would blessing in disguise. Mike wasn’t one to discriminate, even against a Romulan...but he was concerned that for some reason, ‘red alert’ was going off in the back of his mind. He wasn’t sure if it was his Klingon half, or something else.
