Mission 79 - Triangle
Location: Yorktown
Timeline: Current
Alex and Lee finished their meal. Both had things to do so they parted. Alex helped where she could although her expertise in some areas were limited. There was so much to do but most of the work couldn't be done until they got back to SB400.
She could hear some of the crewmen talking about how Clark got away. Many shared Alex's anger on how they had to go back to SB400 instead of going after Clark. Two in particular were talking among themselves...a little louder than the others. Alex leaned against the wall out of their site, eavesdropping on them.
Crewman 1: "If I had my way, I would've told Starfleet to go screw themselves, go inside the Triangle and killed Clark and his followers. We allowed them to recruit more people and grow in numbers. Sometimes I think Starfleet has their heads up their asses."
Crewman 2: "I don't know. I sometimes wonder if there are some people on this ship who are working for Clark. Seems like they are always one step ahead of us."
Crewman 1: "Yeah, you noticed that too?"
Crewman 2: "Oh yeah."
Crewman 1: So who do you think might be working for Clark?"
Crewman 2: "It would have to be someone who was on the bridge. I'd rule out K'Temoc. He is genuinely angry. My bet would be either Pike or Harrison. They're both in charge of Tactical and it seems funny to me that everytime something happens, they are there."
Crewman 1: "You think so?"
Crewman 2: "Well, think about it. Both are Captains and both don't have command of any ships. I'd be pissed that everyone else has a support ship except them."
Crewman 1: "That's plausible. I always thought Pike looked a little shady. And he'd certainly have a reason to be angry at Starfleet."
Crewman 2: "But Harrison doesn't have anything to be angry at when it comes to Starfleet."
Crewman 1:"True but she IS dating Pike. Maybe they are in it together."
Crewman 2: "Or it could be that neither of them are in cahoots with Clark and they're both just lousy Tactical officers." They laughed.
Alex had enough, moved away from the wall and turned the corner. Their laughter quickly died down.
"I'm sure you can find something to do around this ship besides talking nonsense about those who outrank you. That is how rumors are started. Now get back to work before I throw you both in the brig!!!"
They both looked at her strangely. Crewman 2 spoke up, "On what charges?"
"I'm sure I can think of something. Go before this lousy officer changes her mind."
She watched them as they took off down the corridor. She shook her head. She looked up towards the ceiling, "What's next? Huh? What's next?"
Alex made her way to the bridge. When she walked in, she looked towards the tactical one station. She glanced over at Conn/Ops and saw K'Temoc then she looked back at the panel again. There was some blood on it and the way it was shattered, she could tell that someone had taken their anger out on it.
Alex walked over to K'Temoc, noticing his hand. "Oh look, something else to be fixed. I don't know what's worse, that panel over there or your hand. You probably should take care of that before you bleed all over everything."
It was nice to see that someone was just as upset as she was. For a while there, she thought that she was the only one.
