Episode 121 - "Where There's A Section, There's A Way"
Location: Deezell and Jaxon's Quarters
Timeline: Current
Deezell tidied up around her quarters she shared with her partner, Jaxon. She was looking forward to seeing Counsellor Kaleri. She really should have made more of an effort to stay in touch but she had been busier than she expected over the last few months
Krysia was looking forward to catching up with Deezell, she’d been a temporary patient aboard the Essex a few months ago while Ariana was off ship. Arriving outside Dee’s quarters she pressed the chime.
"Come on in" Dee shouts as she prepared a pot of decafinated coffee and two tall cups.
Walking in Krys offered a warm smile. “Hi Dee! How are you?”
"I'm doing really well thanks. Been super busy with engineering work lately but I enjoy being busy. Considerably better than being bored. "
She replied as she walked out of the main bedroom area. She now walked with a prounced waddle due to her growing belly, with her now being around 7 months pregnant.
“How goes things with the little one?” Krys asked. “How long before you take maternity leave?”
With her right hand gently patting her belly, she smiled. "He's doing just fine. Bit of a kicker though. " She added as she felt him move. She smiled. "I plan to work up to my 38th week. There are 42 weeks in a normal Trill pregnancy." Dee added.
Krys nodded. “It’s a full 40 weeks for Betazoid pregnancies too. I can remember my mother telling me stories about when she was pregnant with me.”
"Oh, really. Hopefully nice stories." She paused. "He's moving; would you like to feel? He's a wriggly little one."
“Sure!” Krys nodded as she gently reached out her hand to touch, placing it very lightly. “Ohh wow!!”
"Yeah. It reminds me of when Lerani, my third host, was pregnant. But then, she had twins who were very fidgety until they ran out of room near the end of her pregnancy. She once said it was like they were doing synchronised dancing."
Krys giggled. “I’d like my own family one day, but that’s a while off yet.”
"Funny that, because 8 months ago, I was of the same opinion. Jaxon and I had been together for a while, but we weren't anywhere near thinking about children, and then it happened."
“Well you are engaged, I don’t even have a boyfriend!” Krys grinned.
"Well, anything is possible in this mad universe so you might find a boyfriend sooner than you think." Dee replied with encouragement.
“I hope so!” Krys grinned.
" So, are you doing ok these days? Anything interesting on the gossip grapevine?"
“The gossip grapevine huh?” Krys smiled. “Not much really, the life of a counsellor is one that you can rarely discuss with others. As for station business I’ve got a while longer here, once my training period is complete I’ll be signed off as being ready for my first solo assignment then I’ll be going who knows where.”
"Sounds exciting. So you might not be staying on here? "
Krys shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know yet, depends where Starfleet’s decide to send me. It’s not yet anyway, I still have some time left here.”
" I'm glad. I've just got to know you and it would be a shame for you just to go. You helped me so much in the last few months, I appreciate it."
“I’m glad I’ve helped” Krysia smiled warmly. “To be honest I could get used to being here.”
"Starbase 400, as chaotic as it can be, has a very endearing homely quality about it. I hope you get to stay. I think we would benefit from you staying and I'd like you to stay."
Dee replied.
Krysia smiled warmly. “When the time comes I’ll speak to Ariana about it, see what she says.”
"Oh please do. You'll fit in so well here. " Dee commented.
Krysia couldn’t help but blush. “I’ve no doubt Ariana will be in touch to ask you how I’ve performed as your Counsellor. Please do let her know your opinion.”
"You can count on it. You've helped me so much, not just as a counsellor, but as a friend. "
Krysia smiled. “Then I’m very fortunate to have you as my friend. Thank you, Dee.”
"I have met many people in my six lifetimes, and amongst them are a rare few who were my closest friends. I am fortunate to be able to count you as one of them."
“Then I am honoured to be amongst them” Krys smiled warmly. “I can’t imagine six lifetimes of experience.”
"It took a bit of time for me to get used to it, as I had none of the training an initiate would normally receive. I do, occasionally, have issues. But, thankfully, they are now few and far between."
Krysia nodded. “Well if you ever need someone to talk to you’ll know where to find me. For now anyways.”
"Likewise. If you ever need to talk to someone or have a good rant, because believe me, a good rant, and a sweary one at that, is very therapeutic, I am here. " Dee added.
Krysia grinned. “I’ll bear that in mind my friend.”
The two continue chatting as the scene fades out.
