Mission: Episode 121 - "Where There's A Section, There's A Way"
Location: USS Essex, Temporary Quarters
Timeline: Backpost from previous episode

Ezekiel had opening communications channel with Anna, he had missed her and their son. Right now he was kind of down on himself because the USS Saratoga was beyond repair. He was having a hard time with that, and he was also having a hard time with the fact that he wasn't able to see his wife and son. But he knew Admiral T'Lar needed him for this mission. Right now he was acting first officer since his ship was out of commission.

"Hey Anna, it is so good to see your face." Ezekiel said but the warm smile as the subspace chat between them flicker to life. It was the first thing he said when he saw her face appear.

Anna smiled back at him. She missed him so much but these times helped and she would make the most of it. "It is good to see you as well. We both miss you. How are things going?"

"Did you hear about the Saratoga?" Ezekiel started to ask, not sure where he should actually start with this conversation.

"No." Anna frowned. "I have been really busy between work and our son." She had been working long days and when she got home she wanted to spend every minute she could with him. "What happened?"

"The Saratoga, was attacked along with the rest of the fleet. He took the blunt of the attack. Most of the crew was rescued, I lost a few under my command." Ezekiel said trying to stick to the facts, not to let his emotions run wild at this moment.

"Oh Zeke." Anna said, her emotions immediately kicking in. She felt bad for him and for the families who lost loved ones. Anna knew that Zeke was taking this hard. Not only from the sound of his voice but because she knew him. A part of her felt fear at the same time. She and Michael could have lost him. "I am so sorry for what you are going through. I wish I could be there with you."

"I wish you were here too, how's Michael doing?" Ezekiel asked, trying to think about a more positive situation. And what could be more positive than their loving son.

"He's doing really good." Anna said. "But he misses you. He's growing like a weed."

"I'm hoping we won't be out here much longer, I can't wait to get back to both of you. Make sure to give him extra hugs and kisses for me tonight." Ezekiel said, wishing that he could hold her right now. Between missing his son and the total devastation of the Saratoga he was really feeling a loss. Seeing Anna on the main viewer was definitely helping him.

"We will be waiting for your return." Anna said. "Missing you every minute." She smiled then. "I will give him extra hugs and kisses from you. He talks about you all the time."

"How are things going where you are?" Ezekiel asked, hoping that she was having a better time than he was. Granted she didn't take her ship, but last he heard she was on a deep space assignment too. For a short time they were out of radio contact because of the board ship and this anomaly.

"It has been an experience." Anna said quietly. "A lot of injured so I have been quite busy." She paused. "And it's taken an emotional toll, but I would worry if it didn't."

"Don't do that, you're feelings matter too." Ezekiel said with a warm smile on his face. He wanted her to see that she was not alone.

"Thank you." Anna said seriously. "I think I needed to hear that. I miss having you to talk to."
