Mission:
Episode 120 - Guardian at the Gate
Location: USS Essex
Timeline: Current
Deela was still waiting for the Perseus to return from the conduit. The holidays passed by as everyone on this mission waited for their return. Deela was missing her daughter and the starbase. Time just seemed to pass by slowly. She wondered how her daughter, Raivyn was doing.
Deela sat in her ready room just watching for anything that could happen. She replicated some tea and crackers to pass the time. She really hated these kinds of missions. She would have rather been on the Perseus instead of sitting, twiddling her thumbs.
She sipped her tea and ate the crackers when the bridge notified her of a communication. To her surprise, it was Alex and Raivyn. A emotion took over her, causing her to smile. She wanted to reach out and hug Raivyn, "Raivyn? I've missed you so much. And Alex, how is everything going?"
Alex smiled, "It would be a lot better if you came back. You missed all of the festivities here. Anyway, Raivyn really wanted to see you because she was worried about you and wanted to make sure you were okay."
"Weel, as you can see, I am. We had a little excitement but it's been taken care of. We're still waiting for the Perseus to come back from the other side of the conduit."
"Have you heard from Bremer? Anything?" Alex looked concerned.
"No, not yet. So, we're stuck here until they get back. Who knows when that is."
Alex nodded, "Well then, I will leave you two to talk. I hope you get back soon."
Deela agreed, "Me too. And thank you for taking care of her."
Alex smiled and left Raivyn to talk, "Mom, what is taking so long? You missed all of the fun."
"I know baby. But sometimes things happen out of our control. It's a waiting game here. I promise that when I get back, we'll do a little celebrating together then."
"I really want you home. Alex is nice and everything but she isn't you." Raivyn looked like she wanted to cry.
"I know. I know." Deela cleared her throat and changed the subject, "So, what kind of things did you do this week?"
Raivyn's mood changed, "Alex found a program on the holodeck and we sort of had our won holiday celebration. It was fun. Seemed so real. We had a lot of fun. I even got to play in the snow. Alex and I made a snowman too."
"Well, I'm glad you didn't let me being gone stop you from having fun. Alex will have to show me the program. Maybe we can go back and you can show it to me."
Raivyn smiled, "Really? That would be great! I hope you get back soon. I feel a lot better now that I know you are okay. I was worried."
"I know you were. I'm worried too. The Perseus is still not back but when it does, I will be home before you know it."
"I hope so." Raivyn leaned in, "OH, Brandon says hi and that he loves you. He stopped by before going on some sort of assignment. He stayed for a day then left."
"I'm glad you got to spend time with him." Deela wished that she could see her son too.
"Me too." Raivyn leaned back in her chair.
Deela needed to get back to the bridge, "Okay then. I need to check in with everyone here. I love you so much."
Raivyn smiled brightly, "I love you too. See you when you get back." She added, "Be safe."
"I will certainly try." She blew her a kiss and Raivyn pretended to catch it.
"Bye."
Raivyn's face disappeared from the screen. Deela sat in her chair for a few minutes, wishing to be home. She then got up and went back onto the bridge and took her seat.
