Mission: Episode 120 - Guardian at the Gate
Location: Main Engineering - USS Essex.
Timeline: Current

The Essex, with the rest of the fleet, was at warp, heading to their destination and what lay ahead of them.

Deezell was working in main engineering, focusing her mind on the tasks at hand rather than her pregnancy. Her heightened sense of smell was causing her a few issues, mostly from the scents in engineering which, under normal circumstances, would have have gone unnoticed and the occasional team mate aftershave and/or strength of coffee from the replicator.

She had just finished a briefing with the engineering team. Their focus was on perfect running of all systems and full checks on all the back ups.

With the Essex being an Inquiry class starship, Dee was intermittently checking a padd for her deck listings and general layout as she had only been aboard this class once before so things were somewhat unfamiliar.

She turned to her Number one on this mission. "Lewis, I am going up to the bridge to check on the engineering station and links from up there." She advised.

"Yes Ma'am. " Lewis replied.

Dee stepped out of the turbolift and onto the main bridge. She headed straight for the engineering console and took a seat. She looked around the elegant bridge design. She sniffed the air. `hmm someone likes a strong coffee up here.` she thought. She tapped a coms panel.

"Vox to Lewis, I am showing the warp core has a slightly different temperature up here. It isn't any concern but its just different what is shown in main engineering. A difference of around 200 degrees kelvin. Can you recalibrate the bridge links? "

"Yes Ma'am. Your terminal will go dark for a second. Standby." Lewis replied.

The screens in front of her went black for a fraction of a second and then restored. "That worked. Odd. Check other systems just to be on the safe side." Dee advised.

"I am on it. " Lewis replied.

Dee continued to monitor things from the bridge.
