Mission: Episode 120 - Guardian at the Gate
Location: USS Essex & USS George Washington.
Timeline: Current

Dee was in her office just off main engineering aboard the Essex.

She sent a brief message to Lieutenant McWire to see if he was free to chat via subspace link. She waited for a reply.

-Main Engineering office at the George Washington-

Percy notice that his little desk console beeped and a message came through. He open the message and started to read it, it was from Dee. He replied back. ~Yes i always got some spare time for my team.~

Dee opened a channel on her terminal to Percy's in his office

"Hello Sir, how are things on the George Washington?"

"So far everything is quite. The Team and I are preparing for any Scenario that could happen. You never know what to expect when travelling through the conduit. How are things on the Essex?." Percy asked

"Pretty much the same here. Preparing for whatever might happen. Something has happened though that isn't work related. "

"What has happened?" Percy wondered.

"I'm pregnant."

Hearing Dee's words he felt happy for her. " How wonderful great news. I am very happy for you. Congratulation. How are feeling?" Percy said with a smile on his face.


"Thank you. I'm feeling really well. So far morning sickness hasn't been too bad. But heightened sense of smell is a little annoying."

" I heard about it from others on the station what pregnancy does. You are now taking care of two." He said with a smile. "Some thing might pass I hope. Did start to have any cravings? " he asked being curious and great interest.


"Not yet. But for Trill's, cravings usually start after the first 6 weeks."

"How far along are you know?" Percy asked

"3 weeks 6 days. "

"Still early but time will fly by quickly. Is there anything that I can do or support you?." Percy asked.

"Not at the moment. It's still early days. I'm still getting my head around the idea I'm going to have a baby. I haven't told my parents as I thought it might be best to wait till we got back to the station, safe and sound, first. You know how parents can over worry about things. " She laughed, then thought for a moment. "Oh dear, I'm probably going to do that too. "

"That's what parents do." He laughed " Don't worry to much take one step at a time. My mother always worried about me when I was growing up." he said.


"So does mine. I will sort out my uniform when I need to make any adjustments as my pregnancy progresses."

"That's sounds reasonable" he said grinning. "Have you told any one else?" he asked.

"My boyfriend, Jaxon, obviously. Ariana Munroe-Wayne and Admiral T'Lar. My parents don't yet know."

"How can it be that you haven't told your parents about your pregnancy yet?" he asked

"Well, mostly because I was waiting till I was 12 weeks before telling them. The pregnancy is considered relatively safe at that point."

"How is the pregnancy for you as a Trill? I myself isn't familiar with it." he wondered.

"Trill pregnancy is very similar to humans but is slightly longer, 9 and a half months. Also, you might be able to see my Trill markings have have dark red outline to them. That's another classic sign when a Trill female is expecting. That's how I knew. I looked in the mirror and saw the outline."

"Oh I learned something new about Trills." he said. "Thanks Dee"

"Another tell tale sign is a heightened sense of smell. Only yesterday could I smell the aftershave of one of the engineers who was, at the time, on an upper level and well over 200 feet away from me. Also, Trill females produce a pheromone during pregnancy which can only be picked up by the father of the child."

"Wow" he said being amazed be her senses. "Have you been amazed by it too? " he asked.

"Not really. I've been pregnant before when I was joined to Azrel and Lerani."
Dee replied.

“Through your host you experienced that feeling before, but still new to your current host, am I right? it feels a bit different for this host probably as a it did for your past hosts?” he asked

"Oh yes, it is different for me. I am still a little worried about things but I'm.sure that will pass."

“You will be fine.”He said encouraging to his no.1.

"Yeah. It's just that, this wasn't planned at all. " She confessed.

“Not everything in life goes according to plan, even the thing that aren’t planned. Life throws you the unexpected.” He said trying to lift her spirit.

"You would think I would know this by now, with 5 lifetimes experience but apparently not. Things happen for a reason I suppose. " She replied.

“They do. I am sorry to cut conversation short but I need get back to work, I have enjoyed it very much and I got to know you closer, thanks for letting me be a part of it. I need to go back to work. I would to repeat it in a later time.” Percy said with a smile on his face.

"I have to return to work as well. Glad we got this time to catch up. Talk again soon. Stay safe and hope to see you back on the station when this is all over "

“Stay safe out there too, Dee. See you back at the Station.” He said then closed the channel.

Dee stood from her desk. She stretched and headed out the door back into main engineering.
