Episode 119 - "Shattered Mirror"
Location: SB400 Harrison/Pike quarters
Timeline: Current
After Deela had her dinner, she came home to relieve her Yeoman from watching Raivyn. Petty Officer Lan stood up when Deela walked into her quarters. Raivyn ran over and gave her mother a hug.
"Mom, glad you're back. Me and Cara were watching a movie when she dropped on me that I need to pack some stuff for Alex's place. Why do I have to do that? Why am I staying there?"
Cara looked over at Raivyn, then back at Deela. She felt bad for Raivyn, "Sorry Admiral. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to tell her what's going on."
"Oh no, you are fine. Thank you for helping out. When I leave Starbase 400, I'll need you to help Harrison with her."
"I will. You can count on me." Cara smiled.
Deela turned her attention to Raivyn who was waiting for an answer. Deela took a deep breath, "Okay. I guess you are old enough that I can be honest with you. Bad men may be coming to bring us some harm. I'm going to stop them but in case I don't get them in time, I want to make sure you're safe and Alex is the best person I can think of and count on. She's been my security officer way back then and she's really good. I trust her."
"Okay. I understand. Now that I know, I'll be careful as well and do as she says." Raivyn hugged her mother again.
Deela hugged her back, "Good to know. So are you packed and ready to go when it's time?"
"I am." Raivyn assured her.
Cara sat down on the couch to wait for them to get back. Deela and Raivyn went to Alex's quarters to drop off her stuff and to talk to Alex. Alex answered the door, "Hey you two." She invited them in.
"Alex, here is her stuff. I'll let you know when I'm leaving." Raivyn handed her bag over to Alex.
Alex wanted to scold Deela but wasn't sure if Raivyn knew what was going on. Raivyn looked at Alex, "I know."
Alex nodded, "Deela, I think you are making a big mistake. I think it's suicide to go there. Security here is good. I think you're safer here."
Deela sighed, "I know but if I don't stop it at the source, we'll always be looking over our shoulder. I need to do this."
Alex raised her hands in defeat, "Okay. I can see I can't talk you out of it. Just be careful is all I'm saying."
"I will. I'm bringing Jim with me since he knows more about his universe and the people involved."
"Jim? Really? Are you sure?" Alex asked.
"I'm sure."
"Okay then." Alex wasn't quite convinced, "So how are you going to get permission to get there?"
"I haven't worked it out yet. I have a lot of stuff to think about. And who knows, maybe things will work out and I won't have to go behind Bremer's or Starfleet's back."
Alex exhaled, "I hope you don't get into trouble. I'd hate to see you lose your Admiral status."
"I'd rather be safe than sorry. If I lose my status, then I lose my status. At least I won't be always looking over my shoulder."
"Well then, I guess I won't drill you anymore." She smiled at Raivyn, "I'll keep her safe."
"Petty Officer Lan says that she'll help you as much as she can." Deela turned to Raivyn, "Okay, We better go. I have to work in a few hours."
Raivyn hugged Alex and Deela thanked her as well. Once back at their quarters, Cara was waiting for them. Raivyn retreated to her room as Deela started talking to Cara about stuff.
Cara nodded, "Go rest."
"Thank you again. When you have to go on duty, Alex will take over."
"I changed my schedule so I can stay here until you are done." Cara stood up.
"Well look at you." Deela smiled, "Then I will go rest."
Cara smiled back, "Good." Deela disappeared to her room.
