Mission:
Mission 78 - Colonial Uprising
Location: Princeton to Operations
Timeline: Current
The one hundred and eighteen year old patrol destroyer was proving to be quite the challenge. It took them almost the whole day to gather their report up for the Admiral and there was two teams plus her working on it. They were a mess, and worn down to boot but still she was going to report in one way or another.
'Time to test the comm.' was all she thought as she pressed the comm. system of the old bird and piped into the Admiral's office, =^= This is Lt. Gillo to Admiral Bremer requesting permission to file preliminary assessment report of the Princeton and if the Admiral isn't otherwise engaged a face to face meeting as well on the matter. =^=
Mike was in his Office, reading over a report from the Yorktown that Gul Mavik's ship had been attacked near the colony on Boyden V when the comm sounded.
He tapped his comm-badge, "Acknowledged Lieutenant, I'm on my way to the Princeton now." Mike replied.
It took about ten minutes for him get from Ops to the Princeton's airlock. He looked out the window at the old, proud vessel. It made him smile, knowing a Constitution class ship was now stationed at Starbase 400...even if the ship wasn't state of the art anymore.
Mike walked down the corridor and stepped aboard the Princeton for the first time. He touched the bulkhead for a moment with the palm of his hand. It made the old girl seem more 'real' to him and he smiled again, then finally made his way up to the Bridge to meet with Gillo.
Holly was on the bridge getting the systems back up one at a time but with the core being dark she knew she was drawing off of the base so she only lighted the areas were they were working leaving the rest of the ship dark. The teams didn't seam to mind it and understand her reasoning so they were working, testing everything they could get their hands on. She didn't even realize that the Admiral was coming on board till she felt him touch the ship the same time she was touching a panel and felt his presence. She smiled just a bit but kept on working this ship was going to run again even if the new had to meld with the old.
As Mike finished his climb up turboshaft two and stepped onto the Bridge, he took a moment to look around. Most of the ship’s old duotronic systems were still in place. He realized that also meant the ship’s computer core would need to be replaced in order to install modern LCARS systems. However, before any of that could be done, power needed to be restored and Mike saw Holly working on the Bridge’s systems. He waited for her finish what she was doing before getting her attention…
“How’s it coming?” He asked.
She looked up at him a smiled just a bit. Her eyes showing worn by the mountain that seamed to be in the form of this old ship needing updates so bad it wasn't funny.
"It is going to be an uphill battle but I think that this ship can make it for what you want it too. There are areas of the old system still dark because it's not safe to light them yet. There are areas that are light up under limited power because it is drawing off the starbase right now, and then there are areas that won't light till the ship is given the capability to light herself up again, sir."
She could tell there was allot of emotions behind his reasoning in walking onto the ship rather than having her go to him to report all of this, so she pulled something out of her bag of tricks to tack on so he knew she was taking this task on full.
"I know a couple of people in the bone yards that might be able to rush some parts for us to repair the ship but I think that she's worth it sir."
Mike smiled, “See if they will be willing. Also, draw whatever power from the station, there’s plenty.” He flashed a smile.
Mike knew this wouldn’t be an easy job, but the rewards were well worth it.
