Mission: Episode 118 - "It's About Family"
Location: Trill
Timeline: Current

Dee and Jaxon eventually arrived at the vineyard. Upon finding a table, they waited patiently for both someone to come to their table and take their wine order and for Ezekiel and Anna to arrive.

Jaxon was beyond excited, as he was holding her soft delicate hands
on the table. His mind raced back to the kiss they just shared. He was trying to woo her, and she ended up wooing him. It was a pleasant surprise.

“There they are,” Anna said to Zeke as she looked around. They weaved their way over to the table and she smiled at them both. “I hope we didn’t keep you waiting very long.” Her eyes went to Zeke. “He will tell you it’s my fault and he is right.”

"I would not, she's a practical joker. I hope we didn't keep you waiting?" Ezekiel said, hoping that they understood that Anna was only teasing when she said he would blame her. Ezekiel would never blame Anna for anything, in his world she was perfect. She had her flaws but that was part of the attraction.

"We only just got here actually. Got, erm, slightly delayed in getting to the vineyard and that was my fault." Dee said smiling at Jaxon, giving him a subtle wink. "Take a seat you two and we will get some nice wines to try. I tend to drink red or white. I am not too fond of Rose as it tends to be a bit too sweet." Dee added.

"Please have a seat," Jaxon suggested as he looked to Anna and two Ezekiel. They already got ranked him, so it was a little intimidating but if they sat down at least he feel more comfortable. It would signify that they were at least they were enjoying themselves.

Ezekiel took a seat as he simply nodded okay, but then he quickly got up realizing that he had made a terrible mistake and then opened Anna's chair for her. He was trying to be old sugar is here on plus it was their wedding he was pulling out all the stops.

Anna smiled as she sat down. Zeke was making her feel so special. “I admit I do have quite the sense of humour.” She smiled at Jaxon and Dee. “I am looking forward to a glass of cider. Do you know if they serve it here?”

"Absolutely. The Vineyard owns an orchard as well. I strongly advise you to check the ABVs as there are ciders that go up to 12%. " Dee advised.

“I am not feeling like drinking any spirits today,” Anna confessed. “But Zeke has been wanting to try something. All day I’ve been wanting just a glass of cider.” She did not want anyone to know their news until they told their crew. Anna blinked. No, they’re friends. They were Sarah’s crew now. It was weird getting used to that.

"I have a glass, it's been a little while since I've had some wine," Ezekiel said feeling bad for the fact that his wife couldn't have a sip, but he would make it up to her later after the baby was born.

As Dee was sat next to Anna, she leaned in closer. "Are you okay Anna? Don't mean to pry but you seem a little distracted. If you and Ezekiel want to be alone on a separate table that's ok with us." She said in a whisper.

"I am good," Anna replied with a smile. "Thank you for asking. I've been looking forward to getting together with you two."

"Likewise. I am going to go with the Mountain Estate red wine. It's one of my favourites. It's a very deep-flavoured wine. " Dee replied.

Anna picked up the drink list and chose a cider that sounded good to her. “I didn’t realize there were so many different varieties. I guess that makes sense because all fruits are not the same.”

"I wonder what pineapple cider would taste like?" Ezekiel said knowing you had a tart / citric/sweet taste to it." If they could make grapes into whine, then they could with pineapples. He had had pear cider before. Never anything with a lot of citrus or tart-like flavour.

"You can have a taste of mine if you want," Anna said to her husband. "It sounds interesting."

A lady approached their table. "Welcome to the Vineyard, would you like to order any of our award-winning wines, ciders or spirits?" She asked.

Dee spoke up first. "My friends here are still going through the menu, but I always know what I fancy. Can I get a large glass of the Mountain Estate Red?" Dee asked.

"Of course, would you like the 2398 or the special edition of 2396?" The lady enquired.

"Oh, it's a special occasion so let's have the 2396. " Dee asked.

"Very good madam. " She turned to Jaxon. "And for sir? " She asked.

Ezekiel was impressed that she knew exactly what she wanted to drink. He looked at the waitress. "This is my first time on your lovely Planet what would you recommend, typically I like to drink red wine."

"Welcome to Trill." The Waitress said with a smile. "Perhaps sir might like the Valley Red. A smooth yet fruity wine."

"Thank you please, I'll try a glass of that," Ezekiel said wondering what that would taste like. In his mind, he imagined probably a more sweet grape.

Jaxon was curious about what the waitress was going to recommend. He was debating a glass of chardonnay. There was just something about the drink that Dee was ordering that sounded very appealing to him, it possibly could have been because she was ordering it.

"I would recommend you get the same as me, Jaxon. You won't be disappointed." Dee replied.

Jaxon smiled, you must have read his mind cuz he was thinking about what she had just verbally said. His emotions were running rampant today. Today seemed like the perfect day, he hoped it would never end.

Dee saw that smile and knew what to do. " Better make that two .... No wait, can I have a bottle of 2396 with two glasses please?"

"Of course madam." The Waitress replied. She turned to Ezekiel and Anna and waited to see what they would like to order.

“I will have the pineapple cider,” Anna said quietly. She looked to Zeke.

"Ah yes, a very popular cider at the moment. An Earth fruit that our horticulture experts have managed to grow here on Trill." With all the orders taken, the waitress headed back to get the drinks.

"Besides my glass of wine can I also get a flute of that pineapple cider I wouldn't mind trying it for myself." Ezekiel after waiter hoping that you would say yes.

Anna smiled as she listened to Zeke. They both tended to order and then ended up wanting what the other had. She wished she could try the wine but thought maybe she would pick up a bottle and save it for after the baby was born.

Ezekiel watched the waiter took off with their order. After she left he looked at the group they were all sitting around a table a small circular one that was a little higher off the ground, it gave just a perfect view of the Cliffside scenery below. "This place is amazing, I need to remember this place so when we get back to Starbase 400, I can come out here and visit in the holodeck."

"I tend not to use the holodeck to visit home, Ezekiel. Kind of makes me homesick sometimes, but there are quite a few good programs based on Trill on the holodecks." Dee commented.

The waitress was soon back at their table with all their drinks. After placing the drinks for Ezekiel and Anna, she carefully uncorked the 2396 Mountain Estate Red and poured a small amount into Dee's glass, who then tried the wine. With a big smile on her face, she nodded to the waitress who finished pouring the wine into Dee's and Jaxon's glasses. "Enjoy" the waitress exclaimed before heading to another table.

Dee raised her glass. "The Happy Couple" she toasted.

"Awww, thank you," Anna said as she raised her glass and looked at Zeke. Their eyes met for but a moment.

"And to the other happy couple, I hope it's not too premature to say that." Ezekiel ass is he looked over to Jaxon and Dee. He can see the blossoming of a new relationship right in front of him, he might have a hard time expressing his motions but he was a pretty good judge of character and relationships.

Jaxon smiled at the comment, after that kiss they shared he sure hoped they were. He did not want to speak for her on the off chance that she might say no, so he decided he needed to be clever in his response. "I can see us being a cute couple. Everyone can see the chemistry we have with each other." Jaxon said as he looked over to Dee.

Anna chose not to comment on what they said. She was working on not meddling. It seemed they were getting on and she was staying out of it. Instead, she dipped in her cider. “This is good.” She admitted. “But I think I have a preference for Apple cider.”

Dee blushed. "Yeah, there is chemistry between us." She replied. She hesitated for a moment and then thought being bold was the way forward. She reached out and took Jaxon's hand on the table and held it. "As for the cider, I prefer the Apple myself. Specifically the strong cider of 8% or more. It tends to have more flavour and bite." She added.

Jaxon had a big smile on his face as soon as you reached for his hand, he felt her gentle warm soft hand embrace his. With his other free hand, he took a sip from the wine, the taste was arousing. "I know I've never tried pineapple cider what do you think about it, sir?" Jaxon asked as he looked over to Ezekiel. Well, he asked a question as he gently raped his fingers over hers. It was his subtle way of suggesting, that he hadn't forgotten about her.

Ezekiel picked up the flute and took a small sip, the sudden rushes of pineapple struck his taste buds it was an exhilarating experience it was sweet and tart at the same time. The carbonation gave it a nice little bubble pop. "It is interesting," Ezekiel said as he took another small step not sure what to think of the drink yet he didn't hate it necessarily, he just wasn't sure about it.

"Steady on there Ezekiel. The pineapple cider has an ABV of 8% and it's said that if you gulp it, you will get drunk from the legs up." Dee commented with a giggle.

(It's supposed to be non-alcoholic because we have a pregnant girl. I suppose we can say that he is alcoholic and hers is non-alcoholic.)

"Oh, I thought I was getting no alcohol just like my wife. Wow, that is so smooth that even tasty alcohol." Ezekiel said with a smile on his face. It might have been sweet and hurt all at the same time, but it was also elusive because he didn't even taste the alcohol in the drink.

Anna paused before she took another drink. “Should we check to make certain?” She was a bit nervous now, they had waited so long for this baby she wasn’t taking any risks.

"I am pretty sure it is alcoholic. Ciders on Trill tend to be unless you request the non-alcoholic version. Taste wise there isn't much difference." Dee replied. "Is there a problem?" She asked.

“I am not very happy about that,” Anna replied. She pushed the drink towards Zeke. “I believe I will just get a glass of water.”

"OoooKay. I see what's going on here. You just got married and you are supposed to be celebrating and yet you are dodging alcohol. " Without blinking she stared directly at Anna. "How long were you going to keep your pregnancy a secret?" she asked. "The clues are all there," she added.

“Until I could tell our closest friends,” Anna replied quietly. “Those we served on the Falcon with.” She was sad all of a sudden. Somehow, this would get out and they wouldn’t hear it from her and Zeke. She’d only known Dee and Jaxon a short time, she didn’t know if they would tell anyone. Anna was really upset.

"To start with, congratulations. So happy for you both. Me and Jaxon won't tell anyone as that's for you and Ezekiel to do. I've lived 5 lifetimes and I know all too well what it's like when someone steals your thunder."

"Oh that's wonderful news congratulations to both of you, and my lips are sealed," Jaxon said but a warm smile on his face, and he meant what he said. He was not going to ruin their moment.

"We'd appreciate that, the Falcon crew me a lot to us both. I prefer to hear from us." Ezekiel said as he looked at Anna and then leaned over to kiss her. It was a rare mood cuz they usually didn't show public displays of affection.

“Thank you for that,” Anna said, as she looked at Zeke and silently thanked him for that kiss. She needed it to ground her once more. “If I seem emotional it is probably because of the pregnancy.”

"Absolutely. In my five lifetimes, I've been pregnant three times so I can vouch for that. I'm sorry I got you the alcoholic cider. I honestly didn't know. " Dee said.

“I took one small sip,” Anna said with a smile. “It’s fine, I am just glad we realized the mistake. I want to be as healthy as I can.”

"Absolutely. " Dee replied raising her glass to Anna and taking a sip of her red wine.

"I think we should call the waiter back over here and get her a non-alcoholic drink, this is our honeymoon I don't want you drinking water. Dee, do you know if its vineyard has non-alcoholic drinks?" Ezekiel asked, not wanting to ruin the moment between him and his wife Jaxon and Dee.

Anna would be happy to just have a glass of water but this was important to Zeke. She sat back and just let them talk amongst themselves

"Of course they do. They have a wide range of non-alcoholic ciders. Pale moonlight is a good one. ". Dee replied.

“I kind of want to make certain beyond a doubt they don’t mess my drink up again,” Anna said. “So we need to make certain they understand and I would like you to try it first, Zeke.”

"Be happy to sweetheart," Ezekiel said as he looked over to his loving wife.

Jaxon took a moment and decided to say something. "I want to thank both of you for taking this trip to our home world, I don't think I'd be here at the winery holding this lovely lady's hand," Jaxon said as he looked over to Dee, her beautiful cherry blonde hair gently flowing into the wind, as the sun glistened on her cheeks.

Dee looked over at Jaxon and just smiled at him. One word came to mind as she looked over at this handsome, kind young man. 'Jackpot'. She moved her seat closer to Jaxon and once in a good position, she leaned towards him, still holding his hand, and kissed him on his lips.

He had not anticipated that move, but he was sure grateful that she did. His lips gently pressed against hers, there was an instant spark before you that poured over him. It reminded him of his first kiss in high school. Even though this wasn't their first kiss every kiss felt like a first kiss every kiss felt new exciting and exhilarating.

Ezekiel just smiled, he didn't want to take this moment from them but at the same time, he didn't want to be staring at them either. He looked over to Anna the moment had made him want to kiss her though but he didn't want to copy their style. "Love is definitely in the air," Ezekiel said telling Anna that she was right about her playing Cupid and she was right about these two.

A bleep came from Dee's communicator which was on the table. She broke away from the kiss and picked up the device. She quickly read the message.

"Fantastic. My mother and her group put their new proposals to the Provincial Council and it has been a unanimous yes. They are most impressed by their ideas. Yes, I did suggest them to the group but I am going to let them take the credit. It looks like the Provincial Council is going to revamp their plans so the site can be both a hub for transport and a hub for wildlife and conservation. One Council member even suggested naming it.... no way... so much for me not taking credit. My mother told the council that I helped advise them so they might call the new Hub Stroke Park, the Deezell Park Hub. I am in shock."

“That is nice,” Anna said. “I am happy for you.”

"That is quite extraordinary, congratulations," Jaxon said with a warm smile on his face. He knew she was an extraordinary woman but having a parking back to you took it to a whole new level. She was so young to have a park named after her so he knew she was a very remarkable woman.

"That's quite the honour for someone so young," Ezekiel said knowing back home that sometimes it could take decades to get something named after you.

"I'm not sure I deserve it though. I mean I just suggested the ideas to my mother and her group. I just tapped into the experience of my previous host, Lerani who was a keen gardener, lover of nature and a conservationist. It really should be named after the former quarry, Satha. "

Dee exclaimed.

“Your mother loves you and is proud of you,” Anna said quietly. “Treasure these things that she does for you. Many have no parents or were raised without any. Sometimes I believe that we don’t see how fortunate we are for what we have.” She looked to Zeke and her hand rested on her stomach. “I will probably be that parent who is an overachiever.” She thought for a moment back to her childhood and the many times she wished to know her parents.

"Anna is right, this is a rare honour be proud of it. In your speech, I assume you'll have to give one. You can give one credit to the gardener as well." Ezekiel's advisor, just like he recently gave praise to Colonel Lennox for all he had done with the First Marine Division.

"Is there going to be a formal address, if so I'd love to attend like that's okay," Jaxon asked Dee. He did not want to come across as too pushy, but he did want to get to know her better.

"Oh my yes, there is bound to be something. Hmm. Does that mean I need my Starfleet Dress uniform? Or should I wear something else?" She exclaimed taking a big swig from her wine glass.

"This isn't an official Starfleet matter. The dress you are wearing right now is quite lovely." Jaxon pointed out to Dee. He admired it, it was very form-fitting and flattering on her.

Ezekiel debated about chiming in, but Jaxon said it best. He felt like there was nothing else he could say that wouldn't make you sound creepy or bizarre.

"Of course. You are all welcome to attend if there is indeed an event for this, which is likely. This is turning out to be quite a trip do you think?"

Dee commented.

“Yes, it is.” Anna nodded. “One I won’t ever forget.” She smiled at Zeke at that moment and looked at the other two. “Thank you, Dee, for letting us honeymoon here.”

"Thank you for letting me come along so I could help my mother. I do appreciate that. Also, thanks to coming to help my mother, and travelling with you on the Saratoga, I probably would not have had a wonderful beginning with Jaxon. " she said, holding his hand. "I guess it would have happened later but probably not as special as this." She added.

“I could see you liked each other,” Anna admitted. “I was tempted to help you along the way but in the end, I realized it has to be natural, what the two of you want.”

Ezekiel just smiled, there was that Cupid wife of his. He thought that was a nice smooth gesture from her. Ezekiel agreed with her though they were a cute couple and there was chemistry between them. That was clear for anyone to see.

Jaxon was speechless, that was very sweet of her to say and he felt like anything he would have said at the moment would take away from the sincerity of her gesture. He just filed her general direction, as he waited for Anna or Zeke or Dee to say something.

"I honestly didn't believe I would find someone again after what happened a few years ago. I wasn't looking but" she turned to face Jaxon. "There was something about you when I first met you aboard the station that I couldn't shake off and from that point, I just had to get to know you. I have only really experienced that sensation once before, as Lerani when I first met Loren, who later became my fiancé. But, we didn't get to marry because he was murdered. I try not to talk about that much but I have at least settled things with his murderer, well their current host anyway. I'm rambling again. Sorry. " Dee replied. She took a sip of her wine. She shook her head slightly as she said to herself. 'That was stupid.'

“It was honest,” Anna said. She took Zeke’s hand in hers. “Trust me, it is always wise to speak your feelings when you know you should. You don’t want to have regrets later. One of the things I had to learn when I first started dating Zeke was to be open with him. He is the only one who truly knows me and that is the way it should be.” She paused. “If you two need time to yourselves, we can head off and meet you at your mother's if you let us know the time for the dinner.”

"Um, I would like some time alone with Jaxon, so if you want to meet back at my parent's house, at say 18:30 then we should be good. My mother likes to have dinner around 19:00," Dee advised.

“We will be there,” Anna said. She stood up and took Zeke’s hand. “We shall see you later.” She was glad she had asked and didn’t just sit by and say nothing. Anna wanted some time with Zeke, just the two of them. It was their honeymoon after all. They headed on their way, leaving Jaxon and Dee to have some time together.

Sammi: good post! I will start part 5 after I finish eating dinner.
