Mission: Episode 118 - "It's About Family"
Location: Trill
Timeline: Current

The USS Saratoga had just dropped out of warp and was on her final approach to Trill. Dee was in her quarters frantically getting her things together. She left things to the last minute as usual.

As she frantically searched for her boots, she noticed the change of light in the room and looked out of the window to see her homeworld come into view as the Saratoga entered orbit.

She approached the windows to get a better view of home.

She tapped her combadge. =^= Vox to Bagwell and Woodhouse. Are you seeing the view out of the starboard side? Welcome to Trill.=^=

Ezekiel is by the window in his quarters, and he had Anna in his arms as he held her close. They were both getting a good look at the planet. He talked on his combadge as he responded. "Thank you Dee. She is an incredible sight to see."

Dee smiled. =^= I have to admit it's good to be home. Have you got accommodation sorted out or do you need help with that? =^= she asked.

Anna just listened to them talk. Zeke had made the plans so he hopefully had done something ahead of time. She would like some time with him…it was their honeymoon.

"Yes, we're going to be staying at one of your five star resorts in the main capital city." Ezekiel said with the big grin on his face, they just had to beam down and check in to registration around 3:00 p.m.

Anna smiled. He had planned this honeymoon with thought in mind. Even with the last minute change, Zeke was making sure it would be a honeymoon to remember.

"Have you ever stayed at Tulmeya Hotel and Resort?" Ezekiel asked, as a line to Dee was still open." From the reviews you read, he knew that this was a good Resort but he was curious what the local side of it.

=^=Oh I have. It's named after the province where I grew up and where my family's estate is. A fabulous hotel. Good choice. =^=

Ezekiel just smiled for a moment, thinking to himself, 'good job.' as he continued to look through the window, he could smell the sweet perfume that Hannah was wearing and their bags are already packed and ready to be picked up. "I wish you the best my friend, good luck with the family." He said it he got ready to end up call.

=^=Will do. Thank you. =^= Dee replied as she left her quarters with her bags.

It wasn't long before Dee had beamed down and now stood outside the large gates to her family's estate. She took a deep breath, opened the smaller side gate, and began walking up the drive to the house. She decided to beam down here to give her time to think before greeting her family.

She arrived at the front door. She pressed the door chime. She waited.

The door slid open and there she was, her mother. Lucina . She took a sharp breath in, putting her hand to her chest. "Ohhh Deezell. What a lovely surprise. You didn't tell me you were visiting. " She exclaimed. Dee put her bags down and the two hugged.

Once they parted, Dee picked up her bags. "Javid sent for me, mother. I think we need to have a chat about what you have gotten yourself into. " She explained.

"Javid? Javid asked you to come," she exclaimed.

"Yes. Apparently, you have been meddling in local council affairs and causing a bit of a mess regarding a proposed transportation hub. "

"You best come in and we can ALL talk about this," she said emphasising the word all which to Dee meant Javid was soon going to be with them whether he liked it or not.

Once Dee had unpacked her things, there was a knock on the door of her old room. "Come in." She called out.

Javid opened the door and entered. "Thanks for coming cousin. Is it true you are now joined?" He asked.

"Yes, it is. I am Deezell Vox. " Dee replied.

"You will have to tell me all about it when we get a chance. But first, we have dinner and then we can talk with your mother. I do understand her views on this issue but she is forgetting the benefits to the family business of the new transport hub. I am sure if we discuss it and make a different proposal to the council on how they can better minimise the impact on the environment, then perhaps we can appease both sides. "

"Sounds like a plan. What is for dinner?" Dee asked.

"Your mother's Tosolla Stew. " Javid replied smiling.

"Fantastic. I have missed that." Dee replied.

The two left the room and headed for dinner.

Location: Hotel and Resort

Anna had just finished taking a shower and gotten dressed for the day. She and Zeke had a night filled with lovemaking and got up to a late breakfast. Now, they were going to make plans for the day.

“So, what would you like to do?” Anna asked him. “This trip isn’t all about me.” She wanted to do some things they both liked.

Last night was pretty incredible for them, what more can you really want then incredible night full of passion. He smiled as he sat in the chair waiting for her yet again. He looked at her he said with the grin, thinking about the late start and the incredible breakfast they just ate. He was getting everything he wanted, but if she wanted a little teasing he would be more than happy to provide it. "You had mentioned wanting to go to the market place but if you'd rather give that up to go on a 20 mile hike. We can do that, I'm just saying...." Ezekiel said with a big grin on his face, he knew what she was going to choose.

“The market sounds like a good choice.” Anna smiled at him. “I am glad you made that choice. I was thinking you need a couple new shirts and I remember someone promising me some boots.”

"You're not going to let me forget that are you."'Ezekiel said with the big smile on his face which is very rare for him, but he didn't care he could afford to take the opportunity with her. He felt like he had enough self control at this moment to let himself and literally Express himself.

“Of course I am not.” Anna grinned. “Maybe after I get those boots.” Her eyes lit up. “Then ago , maybe not.”

"Shall we go there first?" Ezekiel asked. He forgot briefly they needed to be Dee. He wanted to please his girl.

“I’m debating.” Anna said honestly. “I’d like to see some of the sights while we are here, who knows if we will get back. Do you think we could do both or should we shop today and sight see tomorrow?”

"That's pretty good tomorrow but I'm up to whatever at some point there is a musical show apparently that's really good not too far from our hotel I saw some flyers for in the main lobby." Ezekiel said, wondering how good the show was. It looked like a classical musical production piece.

“That sounds like fun!” Anna said with a smile. “Let’s see if we can get tickets, I would love to do that.” Her eyes met his. “And maybe a hike if you want to but I don’t know about twenty miles!”

"Or we can skip the hike." Ezekiel said with a loving smile. He just wanted to spend quality time with her. Trill had a lot to see. It was an alien culture to him full of life and artwork. The scene starts to fade with him leaving the decision to Anna.

“I like the idea of skipping it.” Anna said with a warm smile. “I just want to spend time with you.

=^=Go ahead Dee.=^= Ezekiel said, wondering how things are going with your family. He wasn't expecting to hear from her this early.

=^= Well, we have managed to sort things out to some degree. Still need to draft the ideas and propose them to my mother's group and the Provincial Council but it's looking good. I hope I haven't disturbed your honeymoon. =^= she wondered. She honestly had not expected things to go as well as they have.

=^="I'm happy to hear things are going well for you. We're still on the Saratoga. About to head down to the resort to check in." =^= Ezekiel said. They had a ride a few hours early so he needed to wait to check in, this did allow him more time with his wife alone in their room. Most of the Saratoga crew had been doing a good job keeping their distance and allowing him to have this moment. For the moment though they weren't actually doing much they were just sitting around talking about their plans for later on. If anything he believed that they were both pretty bored, he wasn't really big on standing around and waiting.

Location: USS Saratoga, Personal Quarters to Transporter Room

Ezekiel was sitting on the couch waiting on Anna, the Marines just took in their bags about five minutes ago. "I don't want to rush you, but it's time to start that honeymoon."' Ezekiel said, wondering and hoping that everything went perfectly. So far she was not showing signs of morning sickness, but he knew that was a possibility.

“I am.” Anna smiled at him as she walked up to where he was sitting. “You aren’t rushing me at all. I want to start this honeymoon as much as you do.”

"I'm starting to worry I would have to compete with the mirror, and I don't understand why cuz you're already beautiful," Ezekiel said feeling a little cheesy for saying it, but not regretting it because, in fact, it was true.

Anna smiled widely as she sat down next to him. “I know it sounds silly but I just want to look special for you,” Anna said softly. “You see me every day and I want you to look at me and think I am even more beautiful than ever.”

"I can assure you it's not necessary, I will look at you with or without makeup on. There's no one else I want to look at, there's no one else I want to wake up with in the morning. There's no one else I want to spend the rest of my life with. I married you baby."'Ezekiel said hoping he did well on me when she talked, he wasn't really one for expressing his emotions like this but he needed to prove to her that he was serious.

"I am overthinking," Anna confessed. "I just want everything to be special." She smiled. "You did wonderful at planning all of this."

" I rathered enjoyed it, typically I don't. But this time I did." Ezekiel said feeling good about that fact. He wanted their honeymoon to go perfectly.

“It means a lot that you put thought into it.” Anna smiled. “You even made it through the wedding with all the fanfare attached to it.”

"Fanfare?"'Ezekiel ass, with the concern look on his face. He hope she meant they're not his. Granted there are a lot of things he wanted to do personally on trail but he also knew the trail was a beautiful place to visit and a lot of Honey winners went there.

“I was talking about all the people at our wedding.” Anna smiled. “I know you hate to be put on display like that.”

"He wasn't just about me, it was also about you to see me very important to both of us." Ezekiel said hoping she could see that. He wanted her to feel like this is her very special day wanted her to feel like a queen.

“It was wonderful.” Anna smiled. “I love you with all my heart and I was happy that they were all there to share in our day.” Her eyes lit up. “It was a beautiful wedding and a day I will never forget.”

"Dee is waiting on us."'Ezekiel said knowing they saw how to check into the hotel and meet up with her. He couldn't wait to start this honeymoon officially.

“I’m ready.” Anna grinned. “I’m waiting on you!”

Ezekiel had a smile on his face as a scene starts to fade away with the two of them finally beaming down to the planet.
-----

They spent so long chatting after dinner that no one noticed the time and soon they decided to talk in the morning about the issues at hand and get some sleep. The bulk of their chat was on Dee being joined. There hadn't been a family member joined for over 100 years.

After breakfast, the next morning, the family was around the table. Dee and her mother along with her cousin, his wife and their sons. Dee's father was away on business with Dee's uncle.

"So mum. Javid has explained the whole situation regarding the Satha Quarry being redeveloped into a transportation hub. I agree with you that, since the quarry became discussed nature, as always, has taken back control and it has become a haven for wild plants and wildlife. But, as the council clearly states, there is a need for a new hub in our area. Maybe, you might be going about this the wrong way. "

Before she could continue her mother interjects.

"A hub would be good for business, tourism and general travel but it will destroy the new natural habitat of wildlife. " She commented.

"If you let me finish Mum, I was about to suggest that maybe the plans of this hub could be re-engineered so that it incorporated parkland around it to help preserve the plants and wildlife. There are countless examples of this all over our world where we have tried to continue with progress without upsetting nature's delicate balance. I am suggesting your group changes its approach and promotes the hub with these key changes which will hopefully solve this stalemate, but also put you and your group in very high regard in that you care for nature and preservation but are also able to see the bigger picture. "

Her mother was speechless for a good 5 minutes. Then, after a sip of her drink, she said. "Wow. Starfleet has been worthwhile for you and, despite the circumstances, your joining has too. I will convene a meeting with the group and the council ASAP. "

Dee smiled. "I have all my ideas and what I just said on this padd," she said passing it over to her mother.

"So, you are here with two of your colleagues who are newlyweds, is that right?" Her mother asked.

"Yes, that's right. " Dee replied.

"Please, invite them to come for dinner, we would love to meet them. Also, don't feel like you have to stay here for your entire visit, if you want to spend time with them, and they don't mind, as it is their honeymoon of course, then do so." Her mother advised.

"Thanks, Mum." Dee pulled out her combadge from her pocket and attached it to her blouse. She tapped it.

=^= Dezeell to Ezekiel. Is everything OK with you? All is great at home. My family send their best wishes to the happy couple. =^=

Before Ezekiel answered he looked over to Anna. "I think that's our cue to head over to the transporter room. It had been a short while since their friend Dee went to the surface.

“I can be ready in five minutes.” Ann smiled. “I just need to freshen up.” She looked at him and shook her head. “Five minutes, I promise.”

"I'm going to hold you to that," Ezekiel said as he got ready to tap on his combat, smiling at his wife. He was a factor there now married calling he had no idea why he waited for 6 years. This should have been done at least four years ago.

Anna quickly changed, brushed her hair put on light makeup and met him at the door. “Seven minutes.” She said with a smile. “I don’t want to hear that I’m late.” Her eyes were filled with laughter. “This was a record breaker.”

"You said five."'Ezekiel said knowing that if he gave her five or took her seven if she said 7 would take her 10."'even though she had poor time management skills, it was one of the things he loved about her because the fact that it made him different cuz he was meticulous about time and being with her and made him realize that sometimes you just have to go with the moment.

“Be grateful I didn’t say ten.” Anna laughed. “It would have been fifteen and then what would you do?”

Ezekiel just stared at her, saying don't go there with me girl. After a long momentary stare, he then started to head towards the door. "We should leave before you change your mind."

Ezekiel tapped on his combadge. =A= We're doing good, we're about to head out and take a look around at the local market. Anna secretly is a wonderful chef, and she wants to bring back some of the fruits and vegetables to the station. =A= Ezekiel started to explain to Dee.

=^=Sounds like fun. I used to go to the market a lot before I started at Starfleet Academy. I am pretty good at cooking myself. I will meet you in the market. Look for a shop called Anatazna. I will be outside with a coffee. =^=

=^=will be there shortly. =^= Ezekiel said at the end of the call. The scene starts to fade away and after a few moments, they end up in the marketplace.

Location: Market Place: Anatazna

The market was a little overwhelming for Ezekiel, it kind of reminded him of the promenade because of how many people were going from food to booth area picking out vegetables fruit and other assorted items. He could tell that Anna was very excited, he loved the fact that she was excited. As I started to walk through the marketplace they started to head to the shop where Dee had asked him to meet her.

Anna was glancing through the shop window as they walked. She wanted to get gifts for those who had been to their wedding before they headed home. She knew they were meeting up with Dee but she was collecting some ideas as they headed to meet her.

Dee was no longer in her Starfleet uniform but was now in long beige baggy trousers and a blue blouse.

She stood to the side of the doors to Anatazna where she had just bought her coffee, a blend of which she hadn't had for a while since it was using beans grown in the Tulmeyan Mountains. It was a strong coffee but only if you weren't used to its potent taste and aroma, of course.

Ezekiel spotted her first, and then he motioned to Anna where she was. He didn't really take that long to find her because they found the shop. Ezekiel smelled the wonderful aroma coming from the cup, it reminded him of a very strong Colombian-style coffee but he wasn't 100% sure if it was coffee the smell just reminded him of that.

“Hello, Dee,” Anna said with a smile. “This market looks amazing.” She looked at the mug in Dee’s hand. “I would love some coffee. Is that a special blend you are drinking?”

"Hey." Dee greeted the couple. "Yes, the market is amazing. It was one bigger than this back when I was 10, so some 20 years ago but it's still thriving. As for my mug, it is a coffee and the blend is of Tulmeyan Mountain Beans. Would you like a sip before buying a mug, in case it's too strong for you?" She asked handing her the mug.

"Deluxe premium coffee I assume?" Ezekiel asked, a little curious even though Anna had mentioned the coffee he was interested in learning more about it. The aroma has sparked his curiosity.

"Actually it's a standard blend but a large cup. Quite popular in the province, obviously but more so in the capital city." Dee replied. She waited to see if Anna would like the coffee, so far she was holding the mug, taking in the aroma.

“Yes.” Anna said with a nod. She took a drink and sighed. “That is good! I think I will try it!”

Nonchalantly Jaxon also happened to be at the marketplace, his mother had asked him to pick up some vegetables for dinner tomorrow night. At first, he didn't want to, cuz he thought it'd be pretty boring. But then as soon as he saw her he thought to himself what are the odds this has to be fate. He could see Dee talking with Zeke and Anna.

He debated about turning around and not saying anything, he didn't want to ruin whatever moment they were having together plus he wasn't invited. Yeah, come there just to get some vegetables for tomorrow night's dinner. For a moment he just stood at the marketplace until he accidentally made eye contact with Dee. He felt like a young kid caught looking at the pretty girl, now it was on her if she was going to get upset or most of them over or just ignore him. Also, it is possible that she just doesn't see him because she's not looking for him. He felt like a lost teenage kid crushing on a girl, which was strange because he was used to flirting with other girls but there was something different about her.

She smiled as she spotted Jaxon. She waved him over. She was unaware that he was the helmsman of the Saratoga. "Anna, Ezekiel, there's someone I want you to meet," she said as Jaxon came over to the group.

Anna smiled as she looked to the man Dee was waving at. She saw his smile and Dees as well. Anna’s eyes met Ezekiel’s and he shook his head. He hates it when she tries to play matchmaker.

"Why not, you were right about Sarah and Sam." Ezekiel said with a grin. He could admit that he was wrong. He hoped she would be impressed.

Jaxon started to approach the group. Her warm affectionate smile drew him in. He started to approach them. He barely knew Ezekiel and Anna. He was hoping to meet them. He was going to get that chance.

"Hi Jaxon, I didn't expect to see you at the market or on Trill. When did you get here? " Dee asked.

"Hello everyone, I am Helmsman for the Saratoga. When I heard the ship needed a pilot and was heading to my home world I volunteered." Jaxon said but the warm smile on his face, it was good to see her again. He felt like they had a connection in life but they were both taking it slow.

"Thank you for stepping up, and being my Helmsman," Ezekiel said In a calm and collected tone. "I was about ready to get a cup of coffee, but you care to join us?" Ezekiel asked but a warm smile on his face.

"I would love to, but I don't want to intrude," Jaxon said. He wants confirmation from Anna and Dee that is okay for him to tag along since he wasn't invited. In reality, he just wanted to see Dee again. He wasn't going to tell her that but detail that's what he was hoping for as soon as he saw her across the market way. He felt that babe was telling him this was another opportunity, he could not afford to let it slip by.

"Well, I have no objections of you joining us, Jaxon. But I will let the honeymooning couple have the deciding vote. My cup is nearly empty so a refill is definitely on the cards. " Dee remarked. Despite the the logic of taking things slowly with Jaxon, she had a desire to speed things up. Something was drawing her to him, a feeling she couldn't shake.

“I am fine with that,” Anna said with a smile. She wasn’t going to object she wanted to see the two of them together. She had a feeling they would be good for each other.

"This place has some really good coffee."' Jaxon said with a smile on his face, as he scooted closer to Dee, but still keeping his distance. He was trained to determine her body language, women were as easy to interpret as men were.

"So I've heard, do either of you have any recommendations?" Ezekiel asked Dee and Jaxon. He wasn't sure what she had, but it smelled really good.

"I typically get the House coffee, however, whatever Dee has smells good," Jaxon said with a big grin on his face. Natural green beans are stimulated by the sweet aroma of the coffee.

She noticed Jaxon scooting up to her. She smiled inside as she so wanted to be in his company. "Um this is a Tulmeyan Mountain Bean blend, number three I think, with a hint of honey. Recommended." She advised.

Anna listened as they spoke. “I like this one you recommended, Dee. It is good.” She turned to Jaxon. “So you’re the one who has my husband's life in your hands, flying him all over?” She was smiling at her words.

"I do indeed, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I heard the Saratoga needed a pilot and I was available and you're heading to my home world so it seems like a perfect opportunity." Jaxson said with a smile. Then he continued. "I love Starfleet, but every opportunity I can get to go home even if it is for a few days, I'll take it."

“I understand,” Anna said. She felt a pang of longing for the family she never had. She was an orphan and until she met Zeke she had felt alone in the world. Anna shook it off. “Time with family is precious.” Anna got a look in her eye, one Zeke knew all too well. “Jaxon, Dee, I was wondering if you had plans tomorrow? I thought maybe the four of us could do some sightseeing?” She was going to get those two together.

"I don't believe I have any plans, but I will check in with base, aka my mother's, to be on the safe side. " Dee replied. She wanted this, the chance to spend time with Jaxon not in uniform where she be herself more than she usually can when adhering to Starfleet protocol.

"Supposed to have dinner with my parents tomorrow but my morning and afternoon are pretty free," Jaxson said as he wondered if he could get out of dinner tomorrow night. Then realizing his mom might get upset if he runs off to go impress a girl. He believed it to be better to keep his dinner plans.

“It would be earlier in the day.” Anna smiled. “Maybe meet mid-morning and do some sightseeing and have lunch.” She smiled at them. “I don’t want you changing family plans, I know they are important. Zeke and I know the two of you would be the best tour guides.” She looked at her husband. “Right?”

Ezekiel pulled her close. "Mid-morning sounds good to me, I'm on a honeymoon vacation I don't want to get up early if I don't have to." He said busy looking at Dee and Jaxon. He can see what his wife is doing she's being subtle about it but she was trying to set them up on a date for tomorrow a double date.

Jaxon smiled as he nodded and then said. "I'm available tomorrow mid-morning, still give me plenty of time to get home to please my mother."

"Yep, definitely got to please the mother," Dee replied. A device in her pocket bleeped twice. Taking it out and looking at it, she smiled. "Speaking of which, I'm also free till dinner time. My cousin is helping my mother draft her new proposal to the provincial council. Then she's having lunch with her group. Looks like all is going well." She added.

“Do you have plans this afternoon?” Anna asked Jaxon. “If not, maybe we could do something today.” They had planned to spend time with Dee if she was free, this was perfect. Her eyes went to Jaxon as she smiled.

Ezekiel was a little surprised, he already got them to agree to tomorrow but she was pushing her luck and trying for today. He was curious to see how this would play out, even he could see that Dee and Jaxon had some chemistry. It was easy to see especially in their eyes.

"Just got to pick up a few vegetables and go to my mother's real quick to drop it off, she's working late tonight at the hospital that's why we're going to have dinner tomorrow," Jaxon said with a smile on his face, but he also knew if he didn't bring home the vegetables that his mom might get a little upset at him. She was already going to be pulling a 12-hour shift tonight.

“I would like to pick up something for Dee’s mother,” Anna said with a smile. “We could do that while you’re getting your vegetables and drop them off on our way.”

Her eyes lit up. “Or what if Dee helps you with the vegetables, Zeke and I can get the gift and meet back here.”

"Hey, that's a good idea. I can help you with your shopping, Jaxon. If that's OK with you, of course. " Dee replied. She was starting to realise that Anna was picking up something from her regarding Jaxon and was homing in on it. She glanced over to Anna and winked.

Ezekiel was smiling on the inside but kept it pretty stoic face, he didn't want to ruin his wife's little ambitious meddling attempts. He could tell that he was very excited about the idea, but he wasn't sure about Jaxon.

Jaxon loves the idea, but he is trying to control his emotions at the moment. He didn't want to seem desperate or overly excited. "You wouldn't mind?" Yes, not want to inconvenience you or make her feel like she had to say yes, this was her opportunity to back out if she didn't want to go. Deep down he was hoping she wouldn't back down, but the uncertainty of not knowing made him a little anxious.

"Of course, I don't mind. I haven't gone grocery shopping for a while. Maybe I can get some things my mother would like at the same time." Dee replied.

“It is settled then,” Anna said. “We will meet you here in say an hour?” She looked at them. “Is that enough time?” The moment they left she was going to talk to Zeke. They were going to have something come up so Dee and Jaxon could spend time together.

"Maybe give us an extra half an hour. The fruit and vegetable area of the market is still the most vibrant and there is much to see and often sellers let you try things. I hope I find someone selling Yon'ah. Mmmm," Dee replied.

"That should be plenty of time to go to the market, and drop off some fruits and vegetables," Jaxon said. He didn't need that long to pick things out, he was just going to take advantage of the extra time and get to know her better. Dee was a real sweetheart, and he could feel something growing inside of him.

Ezekiel was also happy, knowing deep down that he gets to spend a little bit of alone time with Anna. If you could call it that they're going to be at a market full of public people but at least he can hold her close, and do that wonderful husband and wife thing and didn't have to worry about rank or protocols like he was on the station. "We'll see you guys then."

"OK. Don't have too much fun without us." Dee replied. She left with Jaxon to look for the fruit and vegetables for his mother and with luck a nice, ripe Yon'ah.

Anna smiled at Zeke. “Let’s find a gift for Dee’s Mom and then we can head to wait for them.” Anna smiled. “If I can find something quickly.”
