It was hard to believe so much time had flown by since Zeke & Anna had married. Ariana smiled as she remembered.

— The Wedding Reception —

Ariana was enjoying being a part of Anna and Zeke’s special day, they were a wonderful couple and she was very happy for them. She smiled warmly to someone she had yet to meet as she headed to get herself a fresh drink.

“It’s always nice to see another Betazoid” She smiled warmly. “I’m Ariana Monroe-Wayne, Chief Counsellor.”

“Leland Trizur.” Leland replied with a smile. “I agree. It doesn’t happen often. I am bonded with Suki Solwick. She is here as well. If you like I can take you to our table and introduce you.”

“By all means” Ariana smiled warmly. “I’m not quite sure where my husband Cameron is right now unfortunately. He’s err...” she paused. “Off station.”

Leland led the way to their table. “Please have a seat.” He turned to Suki. “This is Ariana Monroe-Wayne. She and her husband are stationed here. She is Betazoid like we are.”

"Pleasure to meet you, Counselor." Suki said with a smile. Feels like I can meet another Betazoid so soon.”

“It’s nice to meet you Suki” Ariana smiled warmly as she took a seat. “It’s always nice to meet other Betazoids.”

“If your husband shows up.” Leland said sincerely. “We would be happy to have you join us.” After he spoke he hoped that Suki was okay with that.

"Do you prefer to be called Commander, Counselor or Ariana?" Suki asked, knowing that the counselor definitely outranked her and wanted to be respectful. Typically her first reaction when meeting another Betazoid would have opened up to Ariana with a huge hug if they would have been the same ring but given the fact that there was a ring separation she wanted to be respectful and respect the rank as much as the person.

“Please feel free to call me Ariana” She smiled warmly. “In social circumstances I don’t stand on ceremony, only when it’s really required. Most times it’s Ariana or Counsellor.”

"I appreciate that, and may I say Ariana is a beautiful name." Suki said, hoping it was not too advanced to come over and give her a hug. Suki was a hugger.

“That’s very kind of you Suki” Ariana couldn’t help but grin, she had always been a good judge of character and she liked Suki already.

"I was starting to wonder if there’s any Betazoid's in Starfleet." Suki said, as she fully embraced the hug, and also making sure to not restrict her emotional happiness at this current moment, most of the time she had to contain her emotions. However being around fellow Betazoid's allowed her an opportunity to be who she truly was.

“You’d be surprised just how many there truly are” Ariana let Suki go as she moved to relax back in her seat. “I’m surprised you haven’t encountered any before.” She hoped Suki hadn’t found her standoffish when she was being so open towards her, given the events of her past Ariana hadn’t wanted Suki to encounter the blended part of her mind that she was still getting used to.

“It is good that more of us are joining Starfleet.” Leland spoke up. He was glad that the two women seemed to be getting along so far. “We need to take an active part.”

“Agreed” Ariana nodded. “If the Dominion War taught us anything it’s that we Betazoid’s can play an important role both at home, and in Starfleet.” She smiled warmly.

"Starfleet has a way of distracting all of us, putting us in unique situations. if you would ask me a week ago would I think I'd be sitting here having a pleasant conversation with a commander in Starfleet I would have said you were silly but now look at me." Suki suggested and she pulled away from the hug, and then took a seat on the couch near her.

“I was surprised when I got this assignment.” Leland said. “And excited. Serving on the Falcon is a good move for me.” He didn’t mention Suki’s mothers meddling.”

“It’s a good ship, you’ll enjoy serving there.” Ariana smiled warmly. “I don’t tend to get out aboard the Falcon very often these days.”

"As for me I get to stay on the station full time, I wasn't assigned to one of the support vessels. Are you assigned to the station full time too or do you have an assignment on one of the support vessels Ariana?" Suki asked wondering if she'd have someone to talk to you when Leland left a station to carry out his procedures on the Falcon.

“Most of the time I’m here onboard station” Ariana paused to sip the drink she’d carried to the table with her. “During times when a Fleet is needed I’m usually off station, perks of the position, rank, and the fact that I’m Bridge officer trained as well.”

Leland just sat and listened to them talk. It was good for Suki, who would spend her time on the station to make a friend. He was going to be split between the Falcon and the base and there would be sometimes where he could be gone a while.

Ariana was enjoying getting to know Leland and Suki. “So tell me how did the two of you meet? Were you bonded when you were young?”.

"We were eight, when we were first interviewed I don't think it was until we were 12 where the bond actually took effect right around puberty." Suki said, recalling that time of her life where she just wasn't sure if she was having a crush. She didn't know if she truly believed in the bond experience, however her body suggested otherwise and her mind and everything that made her her. It was a strange feeling but somehow she knew deep down that he would be the one for sunday, and when she saw him again on Starbase 400 she knew.

“I remember the bond but as time passed I began to wonder if there was really a connection.” Leland said. “That was until we came here. I can feel it.”

Ariana nodded. “I was never bonded, my mother didn’t want to force that on me so she left me to find my own love. My first husband sadly passed away, and I was totally lost until I met Cameron. He’s made life worth living again, as have my children.”

"Children? Someday, Leland and I will have a couple kids." Suki said knowing that they were just engaged right now but the way she is talking it was a foreground conclusion that they'd be married and having a family. "I I'm eager to have children, knowing that a little ones inside me to feel their warmth in love as we express our emotions towards one another."

Leland smiled as he listened to her talk about their future. He knew it would happen when she was ready. "Being a father is something I look forward to."

Suki smiled in his general direction. That was very sweet of him to say. She hoped he was not saying to save face in this conversation. She made a mental note to bring it up later on.

“If we don’t get to meet your husband.” Leland said. “Perhaps we can have dinner together one night.” He waited to hear what she had to say in return.

"That is a lovely idea, and maybe we can meet those darling children of yours." Suki said, loving the idea that they could all share a meal together. He was eager to become friends with Ariana and her husband and their children.

“How many do you have?” Leland asked. She may have mentioned it but if so, he couldn’t remember.

Ariana smiled at the enthusiasm her new friends were showing. “Dinner would be lovely, as for children I have two, my daughter Stacie Grace is two and a half, and my son Andrew is 21 months.

"How do you juggle work and your children." Leland asked her. "Do you have them in daycare on the station or a nanny?" He hoped she didn't think he was being nosey.

“To be honest it’s been tricky, there is a nursery and school which helps, but juggling trying to be a mother and do my job has lead to a lot of time away from my family especially when I’m off station.”

Suki smiled, "they are so close in age, that'll be a good thing that means it'll be close growing up." She heard the benefits of children growing up around the same age group, and how close they can be and how helpful and beneficial they can be to the other.

Leland was glad to hear that they had found a way. Their situation would be similar as he would be off and on the station while Suki was stationed there. “I know that you can’t predict what you have but I would like two girls.”

"You want three alpha type personalities in a household with you, are you glutton for punishment?" Suki asked with a big smile on her face.

“Ohh I’m sure he’d manage” Ariana grinned.

“Well.” Leland said with a smile. “We could always have two girls and a boy.” He was teasing her. He wanted children and as long as they were healthy he was good.

"That's always a possibility we could also have two boys." Suki said to him, but knowing that she prefer two girls someone to carry on the Solwick lineage.

Ariana had to smile at the playful banter, Leland and Suki certainly made a wonderful couple.

Leland grinned. “I’ll be happy with whatever we are blessed with, I just am looking forward to a mini you.”

"Ariana make sure to take note of this, because he tries to come at you later saying that two of me is too much...." Suki said with the grin on her face and a slight chuckle then she continued on. "You'll only have himself to blame, but I could be wrong maybe he can handle two of me I know my mother couldn't."

“Ohh I’m sure whatever size family, of whichever sex, the two of you will cope with admirably!” Ariana grinned. “When I married Cameron, we talked about family and decided that we’d both like a large family. We’re having a break at two for the moment, but we will no doubt have another baby at some point.”

"That is something that we would have to discuss." Leland replied. He thought two was perfect but it wasn't his decision alone.

"I will ariana, he's not going to get out of diaper duty that easy." Suki said in a teasing voice, Grant issue is just teasing but she was also sending us subliminal message stating he's going to take an active part and if they decide to have a big family he's getting take a very active role in that.

“I want to be a part of everything.” Leland said with a smile. “I plan to be a real father not one of those who say they don’t do certain things.”

Ariana smiled. “It sounds to me like you’ll both make wonderful parents.”

“I like to think so.” Leland replied. “We will do our best.”

"I'm not afraid to say it I know we're compatible." Suki said with her alpha type personality. He knew that Leland was a little timid about these kind of things especially when they first met but she was going to get him to see things the way she did, or at least open up to the possibility that they are compatible and they're meant to be together. The genetic bonding was pretty strong between them she could definitely feel it.

Ariana gave them both a warm smile. “Genetic bondings like yours are rarely incorrect, you were matched when young as being a pairing that would result in strong offspring. I can’t see it being a problem for you.”

“We do have a bond that is strong.” Leland nodded. He didn’t add that he wanted more than a bond with Suki. That would be something private between them.

“I was lucky my parents allowed me to find my own love instead of choosing to have me bonded to anyone, I’m happy they gave me that chance.” Ariana smiled.

“I hear some do choose that way.” Leland replied. “I am a little traditional I guess but I do want to take the time to know each other.”

"Are we really traditional? Our parents made that decision for us I think more than we did. Unless you're saying at a young age that you were only aware of the situation that you purposely chose to know that someday you would be marrying me."'Suki said with a teasing grin on her face. She believed in the process because her parents explained it to her, and she felt a connection with him.

“That is a good question.” Leland acknowledged. “I would say it is probably a combination of both. It was explained to me when I was a child and I have accepted it as what I want as well.” His eyes met Suki’s as he smiled. “And I know my future is with you.” He looked to Ariana. “Just as your parents raised you to make your choice. Both ways are acceptable.”

Suki coming from a traditional background wasn't really certain that Ariana's late was the best way, but she respected her nonetheless. She could tell that she had old a lot of betas and traits still in her. "Agreed both are good ways to proceed, I'm just happy I met you and feel connected to you."

“Well I can see that you make a wonderful couple.” Ariana smiled warmly. “All I will say is don’t rush things, take your time to get to truly know each other and you’ll be surprised how much difference it’ll make to your relationship.”

“Thank you.” Leland said sincerely. It only confirmed what he and Suki had decided. He looked over to his intended and smiled at her, not saying a word.

"Yes thank you, you give me a lot to think about." Suki said wondering would it be so bad if they got married right away? He was a good guy he was attractive. The energy and his sense of humor we're both intoxicating to her. The more she hung around them the stronger the bond felt.

“Anytime I can be of help, or you just want to get together let me know, I’ll be only too happy to meet up again.” Ariana smiled warmly.

“Thank you.” Leland said with a smile. Don’t be surprised when you hear from us.” He had sensed Suki liked the idea.

"Don't forget to talk to Cameron I would love to come over for dinner sometime or maybe we can have both you guys my place is a little smaller and could not be as friendly to children yet, but I will work on that." Suki headed towards the Leland, letting him know that she wasn't against the idea. Betazed men can be a little emotional at times and she wasn't sure if he was ready. Saying yours one thing, but if you are is another thing.

Ariana Wishes she could talk to Cameron but she had no idea when, or if, he’d ever be back. A painful truth she was trying to keep buried inside. “Actually Cameron is...off station, he has business to attend to. I’m not sure when he’ll be back yet.”

Leland didn’t know what to say to that. He decided to just nod and not say a word more. He sensed it was a touchy subject.

"Well any day you need company you could always stop by, the Solwick's would be more than happy to have you." Suki said with the big teasing smile on her face, she is basically letting them know that they be getting married sooner versus later.

Ariana smiled warmly. “Thank you Suki that’s very kind of you. Anyway I should be going, I need to check in with my babysitter. It’s been lovely getting to know the two of you.”

Leland smiled at Suki's reference to them being the Solwick's. She felt as strongly about their union as he did. "It was good spending time with you." He replied.

"It was good to meet you too we need to catch up again soon I have a feeling we're going to be great friends." Suki said wondering what was going on with Karen but knowing that this probably wasn't the time to talk about it, they might have to have a girls chat later on.

“Likewise” Ariana nodded and smiled then headed back amongst the crowd.
