Mission: Episode 117 - "Returning to the Mirror"
Location: Starbase 400

On

Aboard the Denobulan ship Glom immediately reacted as a yellow light on the panel blinked.

" We've got a hot one." he yelled.

“A hot one?” Kah’lyn jumped up from her seat, “is it Croesus? MY Croesus?”

Glom struggled with the controls and showed his frustrations verbally. " The matter gain is failing....I am losing signal. I need more power. You...go to the box on the wall and add more current to the transporter power." Glom begged of Kah’lyn.

Kah’lyn didn’t need telling twice, she hurried over to the controls and got to work. She wasn’t losing Croesus, not today, not ever! “I’ve boosted the matter gain and pushed past the safeties, you should have more power now.”

" It's working 2 life forms materializing." Glom smiled and announced.

Fizel and Croesus were now on board the Denobulan cruiser.

Croesus jumped off the platform and headed straight for his wife lifting her up and kissing her. Only it was not his exact wife he was kissing.

" Commander that is not your spouse, exactly." Glom added.

Kah’lyn stepped back a slight smile on her face as she looked at Glom. “He has the fire of my Croesus, I’ll say that much. I can see why she loves him the way I love my husband.”

" That is your Husband . Commander Croesus your wife is over there."

Croesus dropped the other one and slowly walked over to his own wife.

" After what I have been through , Kah’lyn I am sorry for that." Croesus tried to explain.

Fivel looked to Glom.
" Return the others now."

Glom complied and immediately empied the pattern buffer of all those stored.

" Kah’lyn 2 you will need to leave now too if you hope to return to your universe."

Mirror Kah’lyn nodded. “Thank you for what you have done Glom, I will remember what you have done for us.”

Kah’lyn looked at Croesus offering a smile as she cuddled Verelan. “You don’t have to apologise my love I made a similar error with her Croesus.”

" Lucky Bastard. " Croesus said kissing his real Kah’lyn. He then joined Fizel at the transporter.

" I believe I know how this works. Similar to a static warp bubble these duplicate worlds are exactly like ours following the old sciencetic premise for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. Your transporter has found a way to bridge our universes but we shouldn't do that. Our Universe, like theirs is unique. Merging our worlds is dangerous." Croesus urged them.

" The half human is right Fizel." Glom added.

" It is my life's work." Fizel answered.

“Would you rather your life’s work causes the destruction of not just your world, but that of others?” Kah’lyn looked at Fizel as she cradled Verelan. “All it would take is the weakening of the barriers between universes, you could tear a hole in the very fabric that separates our worlds.”

" Let us return them to their station. Thank you for saving me Croesus." Fizel replied. Glom called the command center and their ship turned course.

Croesus looked to Kah’lyn.
" I have heard of that place but never thought I would visit there. I hope Fizel listens."

“Do scientists ever listen?” Kah’lyn offered a smile as she cuddled up to Croesus. “I’m...we’re...” She looked at Verelan, then back at Croesus. “just glad you’re home safe!”

" Me too. Did you bring your tricorder? We need to scan this thing and get the data back to Admiral Bremer. Our Research and Data teams might could use this. The reconfiguration of the annular confinement beam is very impressive."

“Of course” Kah’lyn nodded. “I took a moment while I was adjusting the confinement beam to take a few readings. I figured it was best done while everyone else was busy.”

" I will distract them and you scan everything. I love you wife if you hadn't stayed no doubt they would have left me over there." Croesus replied

“They Actually seemed genuine in getting you back here, they wouldn’t let me leave until you were back” Kah’lyn offered a smile. “Anyway let’s get this done and get home!”

" Trust but verify." Croesus added.

Fizel exited the room but Glom remained.

" Where did Fizel go?" Croesus asked him.

" He is upset. We have just discovered the beams have opened even more ruptures in the subspace fields with the alternate timelines. We have to scrap the mission."

Kah’lyn nodded. “It’s a dangerous thing to do, but I’m sorry it didn’t work out for him.” Leaving Croesus to keep Glom busy Kah’lyn secretly scanned the room whilst pretending to be caring for Verelan. Putting away her tricorder she turned back. “If you’d have asked the scientists here in our universe might have tried to find a suitable way to help you, Now the damage will need to be repaired. That’s if it’s even possible.”

Croesus nodded and walked back over to the controls. Analyzing the readings Croesus soon discovered the science of the situation.

" Your beams are not like typical transporter locks. You are using a Romulan singularity as a power source. That singularity acts like a miniature sun with its radiations and gravity. This transporter doesn't open the subspace barrier it rips it. He didn't fail he just used too much power.

" Fizel negotiated with the Romulans for that power source. They even insisted on having centurions stay aboard to monitor it." Glom replied.

" Wait, what? Romulans are aboard this ship?" Croesus then replied looked over to Kah’lyn afterwards.

Just the thought of that made Kah’lyn’s blood run cold, as far as she knew she was the only Romulan onboard.

" Glom we have to get off of this ship."

" I will tell the Commander. " Glom replied.

" Kah’lyn you don't think your father is involved do you?" Croesus asked.

“Not my father, he’s still locked away as far as I know. However...” Kah’lyn paused. “There’s another me, which means there’s another version of my father.” She cringed at the thought. “I want off this ship Croesus, I want us and Verelan as far away from this as possible.”

The Denobulan ship was in movement but not back to Starbase 400. Croesus confirmed this by looking out a port wind and seeing the stars.

" Glom take us to the shuttle bay." Croesus growled.

" If I do I am as good as dead." Glom added.

" I have to get my family to safety."

Glom agreed and took them down dark corridors into a shuttle bay area.

" These only hold 4. May I please come?" Glom begged

Kah’lyn looked at Croesus. “He did keep me safe while I was held here.” She nodded to Glom.

The shuttle launched and got a few hundred meters when suddenly they began dodging phaser fire.

" OOo no they will kill us," Glom cried.

But then the firing stopped as the Denobulan ship reversed course due to the approach of a squadron of Starbase 400 fighters.

[ Denobulan shuttle this is Lt Colonel Chuck McDaniel, have you any injured among your party?]

Kah’lyn smiled. “Colonel this is Lieutenant Chiara-Rivers, we’re all fine. We need to get back to Starbase 400.”

[ We monitored these guys leaving rather quickly. Denobulan shuttle take a spot behind me.] the Wing Commander ordered.

Glom looked over to Kah’lyn.
" I know you scanned the data. I can help them understand how it works."

Kah’lyn nodded. “That would be appreciated Glom, thank you. I’ll do what I can for you once we get back to the station.”

Glom smiled and Croesus looked back to confirm what Kah'lyn had said.

Thankfully the Denobulan ship did not want to engage the fighter squadron today.

< DENOBULAN>

Fizel went to the bridge and presented himself to the Commander occupying the ships main chair. Ironically a female Romulan subcommander had long since replaced Kalel.

" You disappointed me Fizel and let the prisoners escape too. Now what can I do to you? I will consider my options later. Now tell me what was it like over there?"

{Off}
