Mission: Episode 115 - Planting for the Future
Location: SS Dakota A
Timeline: The next day

While he waited to hear back from either engineering or operations there was still some things he could do. It was these small things that saw him piloting the type 6 shuttle again this time with a space suit as well as a couple generators to try and get some life back into his ship.

Since this was not a business project he had not asked his employees for help and was once again going it alone. He knew Ariana would kill him for taking the risk but it was his to take. He turned off the gravity in the shuttle and put on the suit then carefully piloted the shuttle into the shuttlebay and touched down.

He put on the helmet and opened the ramp it was a lot easier carrying the generators in zero g and he was going to make the most of it.

His first objective was engineering to hopefully restore basic power to the ship and get life support and the emergency systems up and running. The walk to engineering was surprisingly easy the internal hall bot being exposed to direct vacuum was a blessing. Once in engineering he found the needed port to plug the generators directly into one of the impulse engines. Isolating the engine from the rest of the ships system Cameron sent up a prayer and fired up the generator while activating the impulse engine.

To his surprise and joy the engine fired up after only a couple seconds. Cameron headed to the main engineering display and started carefully bringing systems back online. Emergency power was the first thing to be brought back and with it would hopefully come the emergency forcefields to seal any openings.

With emergency power now running Cameron plugged the second generator into the second impulse engine and again fired it up. The second engine sputtered coughed and finally came to life. Checking the display again showed that the second engine was operating only at 75 percent. It was not great but it would allow for him to try and bring more systems online.

With emergency power still operating Cameron slowly brought the SI field up. This would be a make or break moment. The SI field came to life and as he slowly brought the field to full power 5 percent at a time he could honestly say he was happy with the progress. Walking back to the shuttle he picked up 2 pairs of power cells that would keep the impulse engines operating and keep the ship partially powered.

With the impulse engines running and the SI field fully active he unhooked the generators and brought the life support system online. He hoped he was not going to fast but after 8 hours in the space suit he was ready to breath air again. It took him another 3 hours but life support was working. As he finally walked to the shuttlebay he smiled to himself ~well my lady looks like we are on the way just hold on for a while longer and we will have you out of here and back in the normal docks.~ thought Cameron as he boarded the shuttle and left the ship watching the shimmering forcefield as he passed through it.

On a lark Cameron piloted the shuttle up and around his ship. Her transponder was sounding much stronger and her external running lights were active. As he approached the stern of the ship he was greeted by the site of two bright red impulse engines. True it was a long way to go yet but this was a good start and great progress for 10 hours of work. With a smile he turned the shuttle back to the station and headed for home. He knewstacie and her brother would be waiting for him and could not wait to spend time with the 2 of them.
