Mission: Episode 114 - A Time and Place for Everything
Location: The Arboretum
Timeline: Current

Before her shift was due to start and as it had been bothering her for sometime and had caused the odd restless night, she decided to pay a visit to see Ariana.

She was up early and was about to tap her combadge but hesitated. Would Ariana be up yet?, if not will this wake her? She thought about it a moment and decided to take the risk.

=^=Vox to Monroe. I do hope I haven't disturbed you at this early hour, 07:34, but I wondered if you were free to grab a coffee so I can run something by you that's bothering me. =^=

Fortunately Ariana was already up, with two children she was normally up early anyway. =^= It’s perfectly fine Deezell, I just have to drop the kids off at school and nursery. I could meet you on the promenade in around...” she looked at the clock. “Ten minutes? =^=

=^= Ten minutes is perfect. I will be at Jeno's Cafe. Shall I get you a coffee? a Latte perhaps?=^=

=^= That would be wonderful, thank you Deezell. See you shortly. =^=

~ Jeno’s cafe, fifteen minutes later ~

Arriving at the cafe Ariana offered an apologetic smile. “Sorry! That took me a little bit longer than I planned.” She took a seat. “Thank you for the latte.”

"Anytime. " Dee replied. "I need your advice on a rather delicate matter." She added.

Sipping her latte Ariana gave Dee a curious look. “Hmm okay, are you sure you’re happy to talk about it here?”

Dee looked around. "Hmmm. Maybe you're right. It does involve matters of an intimate nature. " Dee replied, trying to mask her worries, but she knew Ariana too well and that, short of a cloaking device, Ariana would see right through her mask.

“Ahh I see” Ariana nodded. “How’s about a walk in the arboretum? There are some nice quiet areas there, we should be able to talk freely.”

"Good idea. Let's finish our coffees and head over."

Ariana nodded as she picked up her latte and blew it gently before sipping it. It didn’t take many minutes before she was finishing off what was left.

Once they had finished their coffee, the two set off and were soon in the tranquillity of the arboretum. They found a bench to sit at.

"So, I’ve met someone." Dee stated.

Ariana gave Dee a curious look. “Ohh I see, is there a particular reason why it’s such a delicate matter?”

"Although my family are open minded about a lot of things, some of them relating to off world goings on, they can be a bit stubborn about some things. I am a bit concerned how they will react to meeting K'Lara."

Ariana nodded. “Am I right in saying that K’Lara is female?”

"Yes she is and a beautiful one at that." Dee replied.

Ariana smiled. “She’s obviously made quite an impression on you. I take it you’re afraid that your family won’t approve of you being in love with a woman?”

"Yeah. They knew I was bisexual but I think things have changed since I was joined. I have more confidence to be myself. "

“Then being joined is obviously something that’s suited you.” Ariana smiled warmly. “Your happiness comes first Dee, it’s your life and you live it the way you want to live it.”

"I know but I care about what my family thinks and feels too."

Ariana nodded. “Of course you do. I wouldn’t expect anything less. Are your family likely to make this difficult for you? Would you like me to accompany you when you talk to them about this?”

"Really? You would do that for me? " Dee replied. "I was thinking about whether to do a live call with them or actually borrow a runabout and visit Trill. Maybe a live call would be best for the first discussion and, depending on how that goes, follow it up with a visit from me and K'Lara and yourself, if you want to visit my home of course."

Ariana nodded. “I’d love to, provided Admiral Bremer will be able to spare me at the time. Right now though let’s start with a live call and see where we go from there.”

"Ok but it will have to be me, K'Lara and you and we have to ensure they know who is K'Lara to avoid any unfortunate misunderstanding." Dee replied.

The two continued to chat for a while before they parted company and went back to the respected jobs. Dee would get back to Ariana to let her know when she would be contacting her parents.
