Ark Royal Bridge
Jack was seated in the centre seat on the bridge of the USS Ark Royal - A as she made her way to the Wolf system. So far the trip had been a quiet one and from the various reports he had seen, he was happy with the progress that had been made during her shakedown voyage.
Once he finished the final report, Jack looked around and decided to take a quick walk of the Bridge itself. Being a much larger affair and layout that the previous Ambassador class vessel, he was still getting used to seeing how so many stations were able to be put to use as either primary stations and auxiliary stations.
As she slowly walked around, the wonders of the new Vesta Class were not lost on him and he was glad that he was able to command one of the newer classes that Starfleet had to offer and that was also attached to Starbase 400. Wandering over to the Tactical station, Jack stopped by to see how Lt Xalanth was doing.
"Lieutenant, how goes things with the Security and Tactical side of my starship?" he asked Xalanth, who not long before leaving dock had agreed to be his best man.
"Handling like a dream sir. Two of the phasers are miss-aligned slightly, but I'll have them working fine by tomorrow." The lizard replied.
"Excellent, that will be in time for the weapons tests tomorrow, that's good to hear," Jack said. "Are there any other issues or concerns to report before the tests tomorrow?"
"None that I've been made aware of sir. We should be good to go for the weapons test." The lizard replied proudly.
"Very well, carry on Lieutenant," Jack said before moving over to one of the unoccupied auxiliary stations and pressing the comm button on the panel. "Mr McWire, hows my engine room doing?" Jack asked as he opened a channel to Engineering. Jack was still impressed that the young junior officer had fed back such important information during his current assignment.
"Your Engineering room had a few glitches in the auxiliary power grid but that will be resolved in a few hours other than that it is in top condition and the team and I have performed well during those random simulations that the computer has generated. I was very impressed by how the team has handled each simulation. Everyone got even more familiar with each station. We are ready, Sir," Percy reported back.
"Excellent, that's good to hear, and it's good to know that your settling in nicely with the Engineering crew," Jack replied as he was satisfied with Ensign McWire's report.
"Make sure that everything is ready for the weapons test tomorrow and also the Warp Drive test as well...Whilst we've travelled to the Wolf system vis slipstream, I still want to make sure that our other faster than light propulsion system is also up to specs as well, is that clear?" Jack asked.
"Yes Sir, everything will be ready for tomorrow“ Percy replied.
"Excellent, Solomon out," said Jack as he closed the channel.
With everything in place as expected, the Ark Royal Crew had begun its various tests whilst in the Wolf system and so far all was going well.
Jack was impressed as the various departments were reporting back improvements in regards to the sensor arrays, helm response, the various response times of the bio-neural gel packs on board as well as other systems which had received work before the Ark Royal-A had left the dock but not the required signoff from a shakedown cruise.
Looking at the list of completed tasks on his PADD, Jack noticed that it was time for the Tactical test and once again was happy that Xalanth was on board to work on this important side of the shakedown which needed completing. After her recent action in battle, Jack was concerned that the Vesta Class starship wasn't performing up to specs, aware that Xalanth had worked had on this.
Looking up from his PADD, Jack looked behind him to Lieutenant Xalanth. "Very well Lieutenant, your up for the Tactical test, you may begin in your own timer," Jack said,m giving the order to begin.
"Of course sir," Xalanth said as his handed drifted over the control panel. The ship initiated red alert as he began the test. "All Systems coming on line commander." He said with a grin on his face. " Shields at maximum."
"Very well, you may fire at your own discretion, Lieutenant, carry on," Jack said as he could see that Xalanth had things well in hand for the weapons test.
The lizard nodded as he fired a barrage of phaser shots at the targeting probes. A smile spread over his face as they all hit the target before re-arming and firing again for a burst of phaser fire. " Everything's working fine. All phaser working fine switching to test torpedoes."
Jack nodded in agreement as he saw the relevant data appear on his PADD after the Phaser Fire test. He was impressed with the work that Lt Xalanth had done and was glad of the progress made.
"Very well Mr Xalanth, you may continue with the Photon and Quantum Torpedo tests, " Jack commented as he waited to see how the ship handled her launcher arsenal.
"Firing torpedoes full spread," Xalanth said as his fingers ran along the console. In the vastness of space, the ship let fly a spread of training torpedoes that spread out as they fled away from the ship. "Torpedoes working just fine sir." the lizard said with a proud grin.
"Excellent, thank you very much Mr Xalanth," Jack said seeing the results of the Torpedo tests update on his PADD. Jack then stood up and faced everyone on the Bridge. "I want to say thank you to all of you, you've all worked hard over the last few days getting the various systems up to specs and making sure that the Ark Royal - A is in the best shape that she can be."
"Therefore I can also confirm that once we arrive at Earth, Admiral Bremer has authorised shore-leave for the crew and...might I add...that everyone is invited to attend my impending wedding to Admiral T'Lar in the next few days," he said letting his sentence hover for a small while as everyone on the bridge showed their happiness and gratitude at his announcement.
With the weapons test complete, there was one thing left to do. Tapping his combadge, Jack signalled Engineering.
"Mr McWire, all of our weapons tests are complete, we're ready to head to Earth at Warp speed when you are."
"All systems are ready for the jump, Sir. We can go to warp at any time,” McWire said.
Jack smiled as he walked over to the helm where Lieutenant Raven was waiting for the command.
"Lieutenant, set a course for Earth, maximum warp please," Jack ordered.
"Aye sir, course laid in... Warp engines are ready for maximum warp," she reported.
"Engage," Jack said and stood watching as the Vesta Class starship entered Warpspeed and left the Wolf system, on her way to Sector 001: The Sol system.
