Kah’lyn walked along the deck of the Romulan ship with her escort, from the looks she was getting she was none too welcome amongst the Romulan crew no doubt because she was Starfleet personnel. The Romulan clothing she wore felt odd, but she’d had little choice but to accept it.

Arriving at Terrh’s Quarters She was ushered inside, where Terrh was waiting for her.

“Come in Kah’lyn” he motioned her escort to leave and waved her to a seat. “I have something here you may find of interest.

Taking a seat on the sofa in his quarters Kah’lyn looked at documents that were lying out on a table, obviously put there for her to see. Her eyes widened as she saw a picture amongst the pile. “This is my mother!”

Terrh nodded. “That’s correct child.” Terrh took a seat nearby. “Your mother was aboard a ship that strayed into the neutral zone, my career at the time was as what you call ... a second officer. Back then Romulans were a lot more distrusting of others.” He pulled out another image to show her. “That was me.”

Kah’lyn studied the images carefully. “These people look terrified, and you’re expecting me to believe what you say?”

“You’re right, they were terrified.” Terrh nodded. “Infact after this picture was taken there was a skirmish and several were killed. Your mother saved many lives! She was left in charge, as such she swore allegiance to us, if those left were spared.” He held up another picture. “This was taken before you were born.”

Kah’lyn looked at her mother, obviously pregnant at the time. In the background appeared to be a small colony of people. “Did the Romulans settle these people on a world?”

Terrh nodded. “They were settled on a distant outlying planet, one which even now barely has a population. Your mother became my wife, of her own free will I might add.”

Kah’lyn frowned. Truth be told she could only just pick up on Terrh’s emotions, he was very well controlled. “So why did she leave?”

Terrh stood and strolled to the window. “She was ... unhappy with having a half breed child raised amongst Romulans. She felt you would be ... disadvantaged here. She was smitten with another who offered her freedom, he was the one who caused her death!”

Kah’lyn massaged her temples, the whole time they’d been talking a Reman telepath had been slowly adding to her conditioning. Throwing doubt into her mind about the Federation. A few moments later she slumped unconscious onto the sofa.

The Reman emerged from his hiding place and nodded to Terrh. “Do not be concerned Commander, she will be fine.” With that he headed on his way.

Walking over to Kah’lyn her father picked her up and gently placed her on his bed. A half breed she might be but she was still his daughter, his grandchild was another matter, a part Klingon wasn’t his idea of a grandchild ... no, Kah’lyn would give him Romulan grandchildren.

Leaving her to sleep off the programming Terrh returned to his desk, he needed to keep his superiors appraised of his progress. Kah’lyn would get close to Bremer and the rest of the senior staff then return to him with all the information he needed, whether she realised it or not.
