The doors to the Romulan Sickbay opened to reveal a room full of Starfleet personnel all undergoing treatment for the results of the explosion and exposure to space. Two beds lay inactive with bodies on of those who didn’t make it, the looks on their faces not easy to look upon.
Other beds were treating people in various states of recovery, if the ship had been any longer none of those exposed woudhave survived. Lying on one of the beds was Kah’lyn.
Walking over to the bed Terrh set eyes on his child, all the years he’d missed of her upraising at the hands of the Federation. He was looking forward to bringing her back to the fold, teaching her to be a loyal Romulan but he knew he’d have a lot of work to do. Mind control could only go so far, he’d need to push her the rest of the way and that was what he planned to do.
“Report!” Terrh snapped as he looked at the ship’s physician.
“She will recover Commander!” The doctor handed over a report. “There is one matter that may displease you. Your daughter is pregnant Commander, the dna analysis of the foetus shows child is part Klingon.”
Terrh grimaced at that news, a part Klingon grandchild would bring dishonour to his house. That was something that would be dealt with once Kah’lyn returned to her father’s side. “That will be dealt with once my daughter chooses the right path.”
The doctor nodded. “Of course Commander.”
The doors opened again to reveal the ship’s second in Command. “We’ve reached a safe distance Commander, we’re hanging back as you ordered.”
Terrh nodded. “Excellant. Subcommander meet your future wife” he motioned to Kah’lyn. “She will serve you loyally once she comes to realise where she belongs, a union between our families will make us a powerful force to be reckoned with.”
“I am honoured Commander” the smile on the Subcommander’s face was one of agreement. Not that he cared for the mixed genetics, just the influence being married to Terrh’s daughter would afford him.
“Let me know when they’re awake doctor” Terrh turned to leave. “Once She awakens, Have my daughter brought to my side.”
The doctor nodded and went back to his duties, he just hoped his Commanding Officer wasn’t making a very serious mistake.
~ Sometime later ~
Kah’lyn stood outside the Commander’s office, she’d had little choice but to accept Romulan civilian clothing her own uniform was tattered and ripped from the explosion aboard the Essex.
Miru motioned Kah’lyn inside the office before nodding to his Commander and stepping outside. This was just the first step on Terrh’s plan he hoped it would work or the Romulan high command would see to it they regretted it.
“Ahh Kah’lyn isn’t it?” Terrh motioned Kah’lyn to a seat. “Sit, a woman in your condition needs to rest especially after barely surviving being spaced.
“How? ...”
“Do I know your name?” Terrh offered a smile. “Child there is so much you don’t know about yourself. I know because I’m your father!”
Kah’lyn sat wide eyed staring at Terrh. “No ... my father is dead! He was killed by Romulans alongside my mother!!”
“No Kah’lyn” Terrh shook his head. “The man with your father was a Romulan traitor, he was the one who got your mother killed.” He saw the doubt written all over her face. “It’s a long story child, you’re part Betazoid am I lying?”
Kah’lyn studied Terrh, “No I ... don’t think so.”
He nodded. “I saved you and your crewmates from certain death in the vacuum of space, all I ask in return is you assist me in negotiations with the Federation and let me get to know you.”
Kah’lyn was silent for a few moments. “I ... I’m confused. How do I know I can trust you?”
“If you couldn’t both you and your crewmates would be tortured or dead by now child.” He was playing on the previous programming put in place by his Reman counterparts. “You can trust me Kah’lyn, I have information Bremer and your Federation may find useful.”
“What kind of information?” Kah’lyn looked at Terrh curiously.
“Let’s just say I have intelligence information that the Federation would find very interesting right now.” He smiled. In truth it was something that would only play into the Romulans favour in the long run. “So will you help me?”
Kah’lyn paused. “It’s not like I have a lot of choice. I have crew I need to get home.”
“Excellant” Terrh smiled and hit the comms. “Subcommander follow the fleet at a safe distance. Alert me when they have returned to Starbase 400.”
