Terrh had taken his time his ship keeping a cautious distance out of sensor range of the Federation ships. He waited until all the fleet was docked before daring to break communications silence.

“Subcommander” Terrh looked at his second Miru. “Have my daughter brought to me.”

Miru nodded and had Kah’lyn escorted to her father’s side.

“As promised” Terrh looked at Kah’lyn. “I am returning you and your shipmates to the Federation. All I ask is you give me a chance to prove my intentions” He looked towards Miru. “Decloak and open a channel to the Starbase. I want to speak with Admiral Bremer.”

Starbase 400, Ops

The fleet had only returned to Starbase 400 after the final and decisive battle against the Typhon Pact less than an hour before. Mike had made his way to Ops and made sure all of the returning ships had docked.

"Admiral, we have a Romulan ship decloaking right off the Station!" Lieutenant Roebuck announced from Tactical Two. "And they're hailing."

"Raise shields, ready weapons." Mike replied. "Put them on the screen."

As the incoming hail was put on screen there was a two fold view, one of Terrh with Kah’lyn at his side and one of the crew saved from the Essex. “Admiral Bremer, Forgive the sudden arrival. My name is Terrh, I have some of your people to return to you. I’m afraid we couldn’t save them all, the bodies will be returned to you as well.”

Mike eyed Kah'lyn for a moment then tapped his commbadge, "Bremer to T'Lar, can you please come to Ops."

While waiting for Deela to arrive, Mike looked over the crew. He recognized a few faces. "How are they?"

“The crew are well Admiral” Kah’lyn offered a respectful smile. “We’d all be dead now if it wasn’t for Commander Terrh.

“Admiral with due respect, I wouldn’t be here unless my intentions were sincere. I have information the Federation might find extremely useful, in return I ask for asylum and the chance to get to know my daughter.” He motioned to Kah’lyn. “Just to be clear she knew nothing of me until now. I find that I’m to be a grandfather and I wish nothing more than a chance to prove my sincerity. I offer an olive branch as Humans say!”

Kah’lyn’s eyes rested on a figure in the background, she could see Croesus at his station and her heart was racing at the sight. He no doubt thought she was dead along with the rest of the crew she was with.

"A Marine squad will come aboard to observe and your ship will remain in orbit of the Station." Mike replied. "You can beam to Sick Bay, unarmed."

Mike was skeptical but willing to give them a chance, after all they didn't have to rescue members of the Essex crew.

Deela walked in and saw a face that she didn't know and then a face she knew. When she saw Kah'lyn, she was surprised and happy, "Kah'lyn?" She thought she was gone forever, "You're alive!"

Croesus said nothing but observed

Having sent Kah’lyn down to the rest of her shipmates Miru moved to stand by Terrh. “Are you sure you want Marines aboard our ship Commander!?”

Terrh nodded. “We do as Bremer insists for now. Protect sensitive areas of the ship, keep order. Kah’lyn will do her part in getting close to Bremer and the command staff, even if she doesn’t know it. This will take time Commander, we must be prepared to play along.”

Miru nodded. If this plan failed in the long term he would have Terrh arrested himself but for now he was going to do his duty.

Terrh barked out his orders, before he dematerialised along with all the Federation crew.

Rematerializing in Sickbay the saved crew were whisked away by the Medical staff leaving just Terrh and Kah’lyn to greet Bremer. Leaving Terrh’s side briefly Kah’lyn quickly sorted herself a new uniform, using an empty office to quickly change before returning to where Terrh was standing.

"Thank you for bringing the survivors home." Mike said to Terrh. He didn't extend them the offer to dock, he still wasn't sure of the motives or if they could be trusted. Diplomatic negotiations to bring a permanent end to the war were on going, and tensions were still high.

Terrh nodded. “It seemed a good opportunity to show my intentions are sincere Admiral.” He smiled a rather sly looking smile. “I’m sure if I’d shown up here claiming to be the father of one of your officers you’d wouldn’t have believed me, and neither would she.” He looked at Kah’lyn. “I am willing to submit to medical tests to prove my claim.”

Mike eyed the Romulan. I'll ask Doctor Hades to take care of that.

“Admiral, I have ... information that the Federation would find very useful right now. I would, of course, require certain assurances before I hand over that information.”

"I'll need to know the information before we can make any kind of deal." Mike replied.

Terrh nodded. “I will have the information sent over to you as soon as I get back to my ship, I believe you’ll find it ... quite enlightening. All I ask in return is a chance to spend time with my child. My ship will be patrolling the closest sector of the neutral zone, as good as any a spot for me to come and go from.”

Kah’lyn fidgeted uncomfortably, She was feeling responsible for a Romulan ship being in Federation space. “With your permission Admiral, I’d like to go back to my duties?” She gave Bremer a hopeful look.

"Permission granted." Mike replied to Kah'lyn.

Mike then looked at Terrh, "You can remain, but you ship needs to stay outside Federation space for now, at least until the peace treaty is approved and signed.

With that, Mike turned and walked away so Doctor Hades could administer the tests to see if Terrh was indeed Kah'lyn's father. After a few feet he tapped his commbadge. "Bremer to Xalanth, I want a guard on the Romulan commander Terrh and on Lieutenant Kah'lyn until further notice. Keep is discreet please."
