Alex watched Gabe walk off. She felt a chill run through her spine when he said his goodbyes. She stood there, wondering what she should do. After pondering the question in her head, she decided that there was only one possible solution and that solution was Torilla.
Alex used the computer to locate her. She left and approached Torilla's door. She rang the chime and waited for her to answer as she rehearsed in her head what to say.
Torilla heard the door chime as she popped the last of the doughnut she had been eating into her mouth. She rose to her feet and moved to the door. The door parted at her approach. "Alex... This is an unexpected pleasure... Come on in." Torilla then turned and went back into the main area of her quarters. "I was just having a late lunch. Can I get you anything?" the Halanan inquired.
Yamaguchi was wearing a tank top and a pair of jeans, as far from the uniform as she could get and still be comfortable.
"Um, no thanks." Alex took a breath, "There was, is a situation that we need to address. I got a visit from someone that you know and it wasn't a pleasant one." She was still feeling the effects of their chance meeting. and she was sure that the look on her face was a giveaway.
Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "Calm yourself, Alex," she answered quietly as Yamaguchi looked confused for a moment. "You ran into Gabe... He's here?." She asked. "Now?"
"Yes and I think he was planning to take something from Starbase 400 and use it to take revenge." She sat down, "I tried to reason with him but I think I might have just angered him more. I thought.." She sighed, "I...I don't know what I thought but I'm worried that he'll try something anyway."
Yamaguchi regarded her old friend in silence. She knew that her son had endured a great deal and she now needed to help him. "Gabe is many things... Stupid isn't among them... " Yamaguchi paused as she turned her head to the left. "Gabe... are you there..." she whispered as she suddenly felt herself touch her son's mind.
Yamaguchi turned her head back to face Alex. "He's here..."
There was a sudden knock at the door. Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow. "It's for you."
Alex looked pale. She normally wasn't afraid of anything but for some reason, Gabe scared her. She swallowed, "For me?" She didn't understand why it was for her and not Torilla. He touched HER mind
Yamaguchi regarded Harrison as she rose to her feet. She went over to the door. The door parted at her approach and she found herself with Gabriel. "Gabe," Torilla whispered.
Gabriel gently grabbed his mother before he hugged her. Picking her up as he did so. He was easily twenty percent more massive then she was as Yamaguchi smiled.
Gabriel gently set his mother down on her feet again. "Hello, mom..."
"It's great to see you, Gabe..." Yamaguchi said to her only son.
Alex didn't think it was great but a mother's love never dwindles. She sat there, watching. She hoped that Torilla would set him straight. She didn't want anything to do with him. She continued to sit and observe. She would not engage him unless he engaged her first.
Yamaguchi led her son into her quarters. "Gabe. When was the last time you ate a decent meal?"
"Too long..." Gabe admitted before he almost skidded to a halt upon seeing Alex. His mein hardened as he almost glared at her. "Why is she here!"
"Alex Harrison is an old friend of mine... She was concerned about your well being... You can trust her Gabe."
"You told me I was banished from the base," Gabe answered.
"Okay... We're not going to spend twenty minutes bounding off of the walls..." Yamaguchi commented gently. But there was a hint of iron in her voice.
That pissed Alex off, "Because I couldn't talk any sense into you. Damn it! I was trying to protect you from doing something stupid all in the name of revenge." Alex was getting her courage back.
Gabriel regarded the other woman. "Did it ever occur to you that I did need to be talked down..." he yelled back at her. "You didn't even give me a chance... Besides... Did you think I was actually stupid enough to steal warheads from this Starbase?" he then indicated his mother. "With mom present... Alex... I knew better than to start screwing around with mom, Beth and Rachael present."
Alex yelled back, "What do you mean I didn't give you a chance. I did give you a chance and yeah, I do think you are stupid enough." She came back with sarcasm as she stood up, "Excuse me that I can't read minds like you can. I'm only human." She had her arms crossed now, a sign of anger and she was spitting mad.
That was when Torilla spoke up. "Enough. Both of you," she commented as she didn't raise her voice. "Alex... You've made your point."
