Mission: Episode 107 – Recovery
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD3

"... maybe," Doctor Corrigan suggested as she led the way out of the surgical suite and towards her office, "you could try not dating for a few weeks. Allow some of the staff to forget why they stopped loving that boy next door charm. Although I wouldn't hold my breath."

Quickening his pace, Mendez grinned, "you think I'm charming?"

"I think I see a free ICU bed with your name on it," Carolyn retorted as she rolled her eyes in exasperation. The last thing her fellow surgeon needed was encouragement. In any way, shape or form. The last half an hour in surgery had been tense, with three of the nursing staff drawing daggers at her assistant for the procedure. She had been on the verge of banishing them all and be damned.

The doors to Sickbay opened and she grinned, handing off the medical report she had been carrying, "write it up and I want it back in an hour, tops. That includes time for you to eat and sleep, got it?"

She didn't wait for an answer as she headed off to greet the newcomer. "Ariana! You're back! Is Hades with you? Are you okay?"

Ariana walked in with baby Stacie resting on her hip, she smiled warmly as she saw Carolyn. “It’s good to see you Carolyn! I’m fine thank you, just glad to be back! As for Hades he’s around somewhere, I’m sure he’ll show up soon enough.”

"Not too soon, we are still doing some repairs to his office. The door doesn't open all the way..." she gestured around, "welcome to the chaos. It isn't actually that bad, medical teams on each ship dealt with the most serious injuries on route but we have a lot of wounded and quite a lot of them have a long road ahead. I think your team will be needed. Badly. Although there was a blown power relay and your office is in need of TLC.

Engineering promised they will fix it asap. In the meantime I promise I will find you somewhere to work. I'd give you my office if reports weren't multiplying like Tribbles. Are you thirsty? I need coffee."

Ariana nodded as she listened. “I would love a drink!” Ariana grinned. “I could kill a cola, who cares about caffeine after what we’ve just been through. As for the office I can always work out of my quarters if necessary that’s providing they’re in good condition.” She paused as she repositioned Stacie who was starting to dose in her mother’s arms.

"Doctor's lounge is pretty quiet right now," Carolyn said as she led the way. Once inside she gestured for Ariana to take the sofa while she fetched the drinks. "I think most quarters are okay, I haven't heard of any damage anyways. Here you go. Lets just, not tell Hades, okay?"

"Thank you and agreed!" Ariana grinned as she lay Stacie down on the sofa next to her and took her drink. "I have missed this little one sooo much!!" She ran get hand through her daughter's hair. "Have you heard anything of Cameron's ship yet?"

"No, sorry," Carolyn offered an apologetic smile, "I'm sure he's okay."

Ariana nodded. "I have faith he is too, I'd have felt it if something had happened to him. I just haven't heard anything as yet."

"It's a little crazy out there," Carolyn pointed out. "I'm just glad you guys were okay. The Pegasus wasn't so lucky. We all got off okay though so that was good. Terrifying, but good."

"I'm glad you got out okay, Hades told me that he had arrangements for both of us if anything went wrong during battle." She smiled warmly. "You can't fault Hades he always has a plan!"

"True," Carolyn agreed with a rueful smile. "Trouble is, he's normally the only one who knows what it is."

“Isn’t that the truth!” Ariana grinned. “Still the station wouldn’t be the same without him.”

Carolyn frowned, thinking of what Hades had said to her aboard the Mercy. Of his intention to take Skye back to the First Federation to show her the home she had been taken from as an infant. "No, it wont," she agreed with a sad smile.

Her relationship with Hades had shifted, it was... different than it used to be. The dynamic had changed. And his actions - no matter how well intentioned - had hurt her. She longed for it to be as it was but there was still a wall between them that only she seemed aware of. He seemed to believe all was back to normal.

"Actually if you could keep him busy," Carolyn said with a hopeful smile, "I have something I need to take care of and I'd rather do it alone."

“Oh? I’m guessing it’s something you don’t want Hades interrupting” Ariana smiled.

"Harris... his quarters were never cleared out before we evacuated and right now, we need all the space we can. I offered to do it. It feels like it should be me to do it. Maybe I'll learn more about him. Maybe I'll find a closet full of teddy bears or something. Either way, I'd rather Hades wasn't there for it. I'll make sure he can keep anything he wants. All of it if he thinks it will help. I just need to know it's done."

“Of course. I’ll keep Hades away don’t worry.” Ariana smiled warmly. “Go and do what you need to do. If you need to talk afterwards you know where to find me.”

Carolyn smiled as she hugged her friend, "thank you."

OFF.
