Mission: Episode 107 – Recovery
Location: Starbase 400, Infirmary
Timeline: MD3

Once he had managed to get a detailed damage report sent over to Admiral Bremer about the state of Starbase 400 and was what required to get her back up to full specs again, Jack finally gave in once a relief arrived for him to take over at the Engineering station in Ops.

He nodded as Chief McCabe took over, allowing Jack to make his way to the nearest turbolift. Once he was inside, Jack requested the Infirmary and held on to the rail as the car started its journey to the required level.

As it made its way, Jack closed his eyes for a moment as he thought about the report he had also submitted to the Admiral regarding what took place on the Ark Royal. He could see the last moments of being on the Bridge, seeing Yosemite slapping the emergency transporter module on him and then beaming off the bridge before re-appearing on SB400 near Operations.

The turbolift doors opened on the required deck and Jack wiped away the tears that he felt moving down his cheeks, realising that Yosemite had made the ultimate sacrifice for him and the remaining crew to get off the Ark Royal.

He made his way to the Infirmary, seeing that the Promenade was quite busy and wondered if he would be able to see a doctor of some description. Having taken quite a few knocks, Jack wanted to make sure that he was ok.

Once he was sure that he was alright, his next trip would be to seek out Deela and make sure that she was ok, not knowing if she had received his message sent previously.

"Can I help you, Sir?" a young ensign asked almost the moment he stepped into Sickbay. A little over five foot tall, she looked up at him with a kind, encouraging smile, accustomed to people having reservations about visiting a medical bay no matter what the circumstance. "Are you injured?"

Behind her, although staff seemed to be going back and forth with a definite purpose, several biobeds in the main sickbay were vacant. The ensign offered him an encouraging smile, about to speak again when another voice spoke up. "Thanks, Ensign, I've got this."

"Of course, Doctor," the ensign nodded as she hurried off. Taking her place, Doctor Corrigan smiled, "Commander. Excuse the chaos... I'm not sure we've ever formally met. Doctor Corrigan, ACMO."

"Good to meet you, Doctor Corrigan," Jack said before introducing himself. "Commander Jack Solomon, Chief of Engineering here on 400."

"Then you, Commander, have the VIP treatment, your engineers have been incredible in getting us up and running again," Corrigan told him with a grateful smile. "What brings you here?"

"I wanted to get checked over. I was on the Ark Royal before it blew. We took quite a few hits during the battle," Jack started. "I'm also concerned as I had a near-death experience several weeks before we were evacuated off the station. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me...I just want to see if I can get the all-clear."

Jack moved inside the Infirmary for a moment before he started to feel a little dizzy and reached out for something to stabilise himself.

"I've got you," Corrigan assured the commander as she noticed his unsteadiness, moving quickly to help him avoid a fall. "Just take a moment and when you are ready, I think this biobed right here seems as good as any. One of our finest in fact."

It was perhaps a sign of how he was feeling that he didn't argue or attempt an unnecessary show of bravado and simply let her guide him.

Keeping a watchful eye on him until he was safely lying on the examination table, Carolyn began running a provisional scan, the loss of balance concerning her. "I'm sorry about the Ark Royal," she offered with a sympathetic smile. "As good as it is to be home, it was a high price.

Now," she continued with a sigh as she completed her initial scan, "just lay back, let me check you over and I'll have you feeling as good as new in no time. I imagine you've probably spent enough time around doctors lately that you are sick of the sight of us. Usual disclaimers will apply, any problems after you leave her, straight back or call us."

With his agreement to her terms she set to work, quite content to have a patient to treat rather than worrying about the state of the department. She had no idea things were going to get worse before the day was out.
