Mission:
Episode 108 – Tragedies, Fortunes, and an Endgame
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Gabriel Yamaguchi had come to Starbase 400, while the Typhon Pact had held the Starbase as he needed some warheads to enact his plan but he was unsure of how this was going to work. Now he needed access to the weapons so he could carry on with his plan for vengeance.
Now Gabriel had a problem, he needed to redraw his plans. "Well... crap.," he commented aloud. He was sitting in one of the many cafeteria's as he contemplated his next move, he had been present during the retaking of the Starbase and now he was out of ideas.
He knew that if he were caught, it would cause issues for all involved,m but his mother and both sisters were here, and he needed to see them, to assure them that he was alright.
Alex unaware of any plans to do wrong, she did her usual rounds. Normalcy was something that Starbase 400 occupants were trying to get back to. It was hard but eventually, things would get back to normal.
Alex needed to grab a quick cup of coffee and a snack before returning to her office. She made her way to the promenade to do just so. She looked around, noticing that only a few places had opened so the choices were limited. "Coffee, black, and a glazed raised doughnut."
Gabriel Yamaguchi regarded this woman in silence for a moment, his mother and both adult siblings had spoken of her, now that he was observing her, he could see why she was a potent threat to anyone who faced her on any battlefield. He waited until she had cleared the replicator area of her beverage and food of choice.
"You should be a little more specific with your doughnut request," Gabriel commented quietly. He suddenly pointed at the replicator, it beeped twice as a plateful of doughnuts of various types appeared. "I've not had a decent meal in awhile... Nothing tastes good anymore." there was something in his statement.
Alex shivered as if a cold chill ran down her spine. She observed him for a moment. There was something familiar with him. He looked horrible and he made her very uncomfortable for some reason. Then it dawned on her who he reminded her of and for a moment, she wanted to react but she stayed calm, "You may just have to force yourself to eat. You'd feel a lot better and you need it by the looks of you."
"Its it's been a long war... It's been a tough war..." Gabriel answered before he quickly pointed to the plate, it suddenly flew over to him as he caught it out of mid-air. He lifted one of the dozen or so doughnuts and began eating it, his manners were slow and careful, which indicated that the hunger had not yet taken hold or if it had, it had not taken over his mind.
Gabriel regarded the handsome woman before him, she reminded him of Savannah in more ways than one while he ate in silence.
A short time later, he had finished his sixth doughnut and he was feeling better. "Now I assume you wish to arrest me?" he inquired. "Mom spoke of you. As did my siblings..."
Alex gave him "I should." A name popped in her head. She took a chance, "Gabe is it? Does your family know you are here?"
"I am Gabriel Yamaguchi." the man answered quietly. "and no. I've not told them about where I am..." as a look of dark pain crossed his eyes before he shoved it away with effort. "The Typhon Pact is an interesting crowd..." he then shrugged. "It makes little difference anyway... My wife and children are dead ma'am... My mother and sisters are all I have left in this miserable existence..." as he sighed softly. Resigned to what he had left.
"They're here you know." Alex paused, "I don't know what you are planning but it can't be good. Maybe we should find them so you can talk to them before you do something that you can't undo."
Gabriel regarded the strange woman before him. "What good would that accomplish... Sav is still gone..." as he regarded her. "Maybe we could... But what would it accomplish?" he asked softly.
Alex could see the pain in his eyes and hear it in his voice, "Do you think that your wife would want you to seek revenge? That is what you are planning, isn't it?"
Gabe regarded her, as he glared at her. "For the record... Savannah never wished for war... She hoped we could work out our issues... and when we failed, she hoped that this war would be brought to a speedy conclusion... Neither happened... We were stalemated and they began attacking civilian targets to shake it loose... Killing millions in the process..." he then shrugged. "I can't ask her what she wants... Now, can I?"
Alex sighed, "You were married to her. You should know what she'd want." She thought about her husband, "My husband knows me, knows my wants and my needs. And so is true of the reverse. I know him as well."
"I know exactly what Savannah would want..." Gabe answered as he regarded her. "I not only had her ear, I had her mind's ear... I knew her better then anyone did... I suspect, even then she herself, knew herself... The benefits... and curses of telepathy..." as he slowly blinked his eyes. "I need a drink..." and with that, he pointed to the replicator a second time, a beverage appeared before it flew over to where Gabe was sitting.
Gabe drained a mouth full of the drink in question. "Much better..."
Alex just learned one thing about him and now she was even more uncomfortable with him. She worried that if she made him mad, he could kill her. She didn't address what he just did, "So, with that said, I ask the question again. Would she want you to take revenge?"
Gabe regarded her in silence a moment before the chair across from him slid out from where it was. "Have a seat..." he commented. "But to answer your question... No, she wouldn't... Savv was a gentle soul who wanted peace... The Typhon Pact chose war from a position of weakness... Of fear... They made kindling from our suffering - stirred the embers of resentment - just waiting for a single spark to set the whole Galaxy aflame." he then shrugged.
Gabe sighed softly. "Alex... Mind if I call you Alex... Since I'm not really in Starfleet at the present time..." he commented. "I think... Savannah would have liked you..." he paused. "I know the ladies of my family have a special place in their various hearts for you. Mom and Rachael specifically. Though I think you and Elizabeth might have more in common than you might collectively think."
Alex raised an eyebrow, "You think so, huh?" It was a rhetorical question, one which needed no response to.
Gabriel rose to his feet. "I've been around for over two months... Since before you retook the station..." he regarded her as he slowly grinned at her. "Take it from me, Alex... This foe respects only violence and death... By the time I am done. I will drown them in it."
"I guess that's it." She took a breath, "But you're going to have to find another source to get your revenge. This Starbase is off limits to you. I suggest you take the next shuttle out of here." She added, "That's not a suggestion either."
Gabe regarded her before he slowly smiled. "Be that as it may... I do not answer to you lady," he answered before adding. "It is best... If we do not meet again... Enjoy your coffee..." and with that, he turned and departed.
