Mission: Episode 106 – Stalemate
Location: Mercy Sickbay
Timeline: MD5 0800 hours

"I swear I didn't do it on purpose." Kaden said as a group of medical technicians brought both him and Kendall into sickbay. He was nursing his leg while poor Kendall behind him was nursing a busted nose and the whole left side of his face was black and blue.

Clutching his face, Kendall muttered something in response but it came out as incomprehensible mumble with a notable upper class English accent. He shrugged off the offer of help and slid up onto the biobed. “ah unt ooctur oorigan!” He demanded.

The tech nodded, seeming to understand, and hurried off while his colleagues assisted Kaden.

“You asked for me, Lieutenant...” Doctor Corrigan paused as she rounded the corner, a grin forming on her lips as she zeroed in on Lieutenant Kendall. Nursing a clearly broken nose she glanced at Kaden but was sure she could guess.

Approaching the physio, she snagged a dermal regenerator as she added, “I always told you that your bedside manner needed work. Not that I condone violence against my staff.”

She added the last part with an amused glance at Kaden, besides, it was her job to say it. She could just completely understand the overwhelming urge to punch the guy.

“I’ll check you over in a second, Kaden. What exactly happened?” When Kendall tried to answer she silenced him with a look, “not you. You need to hold still. Kaden?”

Kaden was holding his leg the same one that gave out yesterday in Dr. Corrigan's quarters. "I reported to my physio as ordered I told genius here," He pointed to Kendall with his thumb who shot him a cold hard look in return. "About the leg obviously you know him ALWAYS having to be a pain the ass figures let's push it till it gave out again."

Turning his attention to Dr. Corrigan he watched her go to work on Kendall. Although deep down he wasn't going to admit it but it was nice to see the handy work he did on his face. "When Kendall touched my leg the pain was so unbearable I reacted and well instinctively socked him hard..." Kaden's face turned red a bit embarrassed by the fact he smashed the guys face not thinking but just by reflex.

"I didn't mean to, Doc, I swear."

Carolyn has to bite her lip to stop from laughing at Kendall’s look of fury. “Your aim is better than mine. I got his jaw.” Kendall held up two fingers. She nodded, “yep, twice. I should have aimed higher.”

And then, without warning, she reset the broken nose before Kendall even realised what was happening. “Much better,” she murmured as she went back to work. “I did warn you, Kendall. You push too hard.”

“I push,” he countered, his voice with a distinct nasal quality, “as hard as people need.”

“How’s that working out for you?” She asked with an arched eyebrow. “Hmm?”

“He hit me!”

“He apologised and you knew not to push it today!” She countered with a steel in her voice she was sure Kaden had never heard. “My instructions were clear, limited physio.”

“I’m his physio -“

“And I’m the CMO on this ship! Stop behaving like I’m still your patient and take damn better care of the ones you do have or you and I can have this discussion with Doctor Hades.”

Kendall paled and for once kept his mouth shut.

Turning away from him, Carolyn walked towards Kaden and grinned, sure Kendall couldn’t see. “Now, you, marine, will soon have a frequent visitor card. It does have some perks like a T-Shirt, a free coffee with every tenth visit but downside is, you get to see me again. Same scans as yesterday, you know the drill.”

Kaden crossed his arms over his large chest. "See, Kendall, I told you to take it easy on me." He told him before again Kendall shot him another mean look.

However Kaden ignored his look and gently held onto his bad leg whimpering a bit from the pain. "Sorry, Doc, I really tried to tell him about the leg and you know him stubborn as a mule ALWAYS pushing being a pain in my ass." He smacked Kendall on the back causing the man to whimper while he held his broken nose. Giving Kaden a bit of satisfaction of causing him pain for once after all the physio put him thru.

"I am telling you, Doc, this guy really needs to work on that bedside manner or am afraid I am going to first of many on that frequent visitor card list of yours."

“To be fair, some days I needed that pain in the ass,” she admitted quietly as she scanned the knee. “But I’ll speak to him privately. For now try not to to punch him, the paperwork is horrific. When you feel better, you can show me how to throw a punch like that. Okay, try to hold still and we’ll get the swelling down and this,” Ashe administered a hypo, “will help with the pain in the meantime.”

Kaden couldn't help but sigh in relief from the hypo Corrigan gave him it helped with the pain. He watched her work and honestly it was amazing seeing her do her job. "Yeah, I will do my best to refrain from inflicting further pain on the man for you. Last I really wanted to do was cause you to do paperwork over it." He felt Corrigan gently look after his leg he had to admit she had the loving touch of a proper physician.

"In the meantime, I will certainly make a mental note to teach you how to fight properly should you be serious about it." Kaden added with a bit of a playful grin.

“Maybe in a few months would be best,” she reasoned with a grin. “Okay, a few more minutes and we will be done. Pain okay or do you need anything more?”

"Do you still think I am able return to light duty?" Kaden asked out of the blue although he was still having doubts on doing so with his leg acting up like it is. But as of recent he been having thoughts on it he sort of missed seeing the grunts and wearing his uniform well his NEW uniform now.

“It’s still on the table. Obviously primarily administrative as I know you all have mad fitness levels- but doesn’t mean you can’t keep your men and women on their toes. And bringing routine in gradually can be good for you, even if just an hour or so. But just when you are ready.”

Kaden kept watching Corrigan do her magic with his leg although Kendall seemed to be miserable behind her which gave the marine a bit of satisfaction. "Well I won't lie, I sort of am missing my men the sweet sounds of P.T. and phaser fire. But Freya is enjoying having me around a lot and have to admit I enjoy it too. It's hard to choose right now guess I just want to be fully recovered from my injuries."

Kendall muttered something causing Kaden to glare at him. "Of course, if a certain individual would ease up and not completely keep sending me here." He added.

"Kendall, go get yourself cleaned up and go get some rest," Carolyn interjected. She watched as her colleague slid down from the biobed and wandered away, muttering to himself the entire time. By now everyone else had cleared out and sickbay was falling quiet once more.

Excusing herself for a moment, Carolyn returned to the bedside with a knee support which she carefully put into place. "This will impair some movement around the knee," she warned, "but not by much and it will provide support where you need it. Remove it before bed and during physio but give physio a bye for tomorrow, take a walk instead.

Three days should be enough, then you can dispose of it. The straps on the side will let it come off and on but I'm sure Freya will be familiar with these too. If it becomes too uncomfortable, or the pain gets to much, call Sickbay and we will come to you. Deal?"

Kaden examined the brace it felt snug. "Yes, ma'am, it's a deal." He replied.

Rubbing the back of his head Kaden's face turned red a bit embarrassed. "Sorry, for being a frequent visitor of yours I swear I am not trying to stalk you or anything. But I knew Kendall's methods was a bit...over the top and I was going to wind up here." He said.

“Frequent visitors keep me busy,” she shrugged, “and busy is good. Just don’t come too often. The T-Shirt? It just isn’t that good.”

"I'll keep that in mind." Kaden replied before looking around and leaned close to Corrigan. "Hey, just between you and me though it felt good seeing Kendall knocked down a peg or two." He whispered.

“It did,” she grinned. “I’ll consider it a belated birthday gift.”

Kaden grinned back he certainly enjoyed seeing Corrigan in such a pleasant mood. If he had known a long time ago he certainly would of smashed the man's face in then. Kendall had been asking for it for weeks but Kaden wasn't one to inflict pain on purpose but the guy had been pressing his buttons quite a bit. "Am I free to go home?"

“Absolutely,” she nodded.

Grabbing his cane Kaden slid off the biobed waved Corrigan goodbye and left.
