A Welcmed Visitor

Location: Harrison's Quarters
Timeline: Present

Alex was spending some time with her son, Paul. It was so nice to see him. He wanted to go explore the base again. She didn't mind. She needed to finish a few things.

Alex received a reply back from Bremer and read his recommendation. She pulled up Dar's record on the computer. His record was quite interesting. He served on 2 ships and 2 starbases. He'd like one day to run his own department and that was good enough for her. This would be the best way to learn what it was like to do so. She sent back a reply to Bremer that she was fine with his recommendation and if he wanted the job, it was his. She sat back into her chair.

The chime rang. she called out, "Enter." The door opened to reveal Vice Admiral T'Lar with a smile. Alex got up and hugged her. "I was hoping that you'd stop by before you left. Have you talked to Bremer?"

"Not yet. I'm sure he's busy now that he's back. Mind if I sit?"

"Oh my, where's my manners? Please, have a seat. I hope he wasn't too much of a handful for you. If i had known that we were going to be back at Earth, I would have saved you the trip."

"He was fine. Brandon really took a liking to him. And your son I think was a bit smitten with Earl. It's not everyday that you get to play with a tiger. He's very well behaved. You should be proud of him."

Alex smiled, "I am, very proud. I am a little nervous. I haven't been much of a mother to him."

"That wasn't your fault. You can't help that you had a jerk for a husband. Alex, I know you. You'll do fine. You're a natural. If you have any problems, there's plenty of people on this base that could help you. You are not alone."

"I guess."

"Come with me. I'm starving and I'm sure you haven't eaten anything yet." Deela stood up.

Alex stood up as well, "You're right, as usual."

They both left, letting Paul know where they'd be. They sat down and ordered some food. Alex looked up at Deela, "So what are your plans after you leave here?"

"The Essex is going to be refitted. She'll be out of commission for about a week but you know how things go. There are always delays. After that, who knows. I'm trying to decide if I want to retire early. I have Brandon and Raivyn who really should have a full time mother but I like being among the stars."

"I know what you mean. Why don't you just get a job on a starbase? It seems to work for Bremer."

"Perhaps. I haven't decided. I have plenty of time to make my decision. Right now, I just want to relax and enjoy this time with an old friend."

"A friend." Alex smiled, "There was a time that you were just my boss. I'm honored to be your friend. So when do I get to meet your husband and kids?"

"Why don't you and Paul come aboard my ship and I'll introduce you to everyone. I'm sure Commander Clifford would get a kick out of meeting my old Chief of Security."

"Then that's what we'll do. I'd love to meet your pet Earl that Paul keeps talking about."

"That's right. You've never met him. Okay, I'll look forward to your visit later."

They continued to eat and talk.
