Mission: Episode 100 - A Hatred of Atonement
Location: Bremer's Quarters
Timeline: MD3 - 2145hrs

ON:

Hades had a full day that had started out bad. Finally being rational he thought about things and headed to see Admiral Bremer. If anyone could agree with him it would be Bremer.

He found himself outside the Admiral's quarters and chimed hoping that it wouldn't be too late.

Janice couldn't sleep, she'd slept so much the last two days after being wounded. She was in the living room area watching the 1970s-2000s soap operas she used to watch in her down time years before. It had been a long time, very long time since she had watched them, but she still knew exactly what was going on as if they were just repeating the same old stories.

When the door chime sounded, she paused the hologram of the circa 2020 big screen TV, adjusted her robe, and went to the door. Seeing Doctor Hades there she figured he was there to check on her, see how she was feeling.

"Doctor, I promise I'm feeling okay and I'm taking it easy, resting." She flashed a smile.

He gave a nod feeling sheepish that he hadn't thought about checking on Janice before. With all that had happened today. "Resting is important. If you get the urge to go back to duty...I would say just say no for a couple days."

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Actually...I was hoping to speak with the Admiral." Hades was afraid that Bremer was asleep.

Janice smirked. "Sure, he's just out of the shower. I'll go get him." She shut off the hologram and walked into the bedroom.

A moment later Mike came out. He'd put on his uniform pants, boots, and shirt but not his jacket. "Doctor, how may I help you?"

Hades, who looked like a mess, sighed. "I require your advice and assistance. May we speak in confidence? If you prefer I can come to your office tomorrow." He really needed to talk. "I need your help with how to...what was that phrase bubble wrap people."

Mike motioned to the sofa. "You want to put someone in a bubble?" Mike didn't know the phase. "What wrong Doctor?"

Hades sat down as if his bones weighed a several tons. "I ordered my wife not to go on away missions. She didn't listen. I order Carolyn not to take risks, she doesn't listen. Bubble wrap is a phrase it basically means protecting the ones you love and care about from harm. How do you get your wife to listen when you tell her no away missions?" He looked worried and miserable. "Your son is also in Starfleet how do you not go out of your mind?"

Mike paused a moment. He understood Hades feeling. "I don't tell them not to go, I don't want them to resent me." He took a seat in a chair. "Janice was in the Starfleet Marines before we met. I was the Forth Fleet Commanding Officer during the Dominion War, she was the Marine Division XO, then CO. It was her job to be out there. If I told her not to go on a mission, she would recent me for it, and I'd be a hypocrite for continuing to go on missions myself. Same with Becca and K'Wor, they are both in Starfleet now, Ensigns, and it's their job to go where they are told. I trust them, I know they'll do their jobs well, and I pray for their safe return. It's not easy, at all, and I do worry, but I also know holding them back would cause harm to our relationship. So I support them and do everything I can to make sure they're prepared." Mike paused a moment. Becca was relativity safe at the Denobulan Medical Institute. However was now the Assistant Chief Security/Tactical Officer of the USS Yuzhao, and they were currently in a battle with Typhon Pact forces...which was why Mike wasn't already asleep.

"You just have to support them, and show them how much you love them every time you speak to them. Starfleet is a dangerous profession, it's not for everyone, and now with a war on it's even more dangerous. If you can't accept them, maybe Starfleet isn't for her or you." Mike added. It sounded cold, but it was also something someone has once told Mike when he and his first wife were at Starfleet Academy...and she had died in Mike's arm aboard the Pegasus-A just before that ship was destroyed just after the Dominion War ended...but he didn't want to mention that to Hades and freak him out more.

Hades sighed. He was silent processing what Bremer had said. "It has taken me a lifetime to find Kalani. I don't know what I would do if something happened to her. I've always done the protecting it's...hard to let go."

Mike nodded. "I understand, I truly do. Talk to her, tell her how you feel, tell her your concerns, but at the end of it tell her you love her and respect her decision."

He sighed. He scrubbed his hand down his face looking tired. "Thanks." He said. He stood. "I should get back to sickbay. I won't be able to sleep until she's home anyway."

"Trust me, I understand. If you need to talk, Counselor Monroe has a good ear, and my door is always open." Mike gave a respectful nod as the Doctor left.

A moment later Janice came back out from the bed room. She grabbed Mikes hand and smiled, "Come to bed."
