Mission: Episode 98 - A Raid on Peace
Location: Brigadier General Hurd's Office
Timeline: MD001 0800 hrs

Freya had been surprised to receive a message from brigadier General Hurd requesting her presence at his office. She had to wonder if the Marine Corps had been informed about her 'attack' given that her current mental state may be in question. Although Rol hadn't told her not to carry on working.

Arriving at the General's office she pressed the chime and waited until she heard the call to enter. Walking inside she stood to attention. "Petty Officer 1st Class Freya Ross reporting as ordered Sir!"

Setting the PADD he was holding aside, Hurd stood and said, in a gruff tone, “At ease and sit, and tell me about yourself Marine”.

Freya did as she was ordered and took a seat. “I’m assigned to the station as marine medic and a member of the Counselling staff Sir. I’m a full blooded Betazoid, one of very few born with their abilities. My parents own a popular hotel chain but they’re both Starfleet Officers. I met my future husband in Aruba whilst on Vacation and we’ve spent as much time as we could together between our various assignments. My husband is Captain Kaden Ross. We hopefully plan on having a family at some point but right now that’s something that’s planned for the future.” She looked at the General.

Relaxing a liitle, Hurd said, "A medic will be useful, as i have been requestion one for ages." Walking around to a cabnet, Hurd said, "So, tell me, Your Betazoid abilities, how powerful, or rather how extensive are they?'' While waiting for her to respond, Hurd opened the cabnet and began to rummage around.

"My abilities?" She wondered why the General asked. "I'm a full Betazoid Sir, I'm fully telepathic and I'm empathic. I can read minds whether in line of sight or not, the same goes for my sense of emotions. The only reason I'm not picking up on your thoughts is because I'm not allowing myself to, telepaths have to have a morale obligation around non-telepaths. I can, and do, use my senses in the field to warn our people of danger but it's not foolproof. It's easy to be overwhelmed by emotions especially when there's a lot of wounded, I feel their pain as much as they do."

Withdrawing a case and box of ammo from his cabinet, he turned and closed the doors as he did so. Sitting down, he slid both items across the desk. Smiling again he started to talk, saying, "I appriciate your abilities, as they will be useful on the Battlefield, and to our wounded, and make no mistake, even though i hate it we will always have wounded and KIA. "As for picking up on my emotions, you wont be able to." "I was Section 31, and as such have implants in my body that both prevent and deflect telepaths from picking up on my emotions and thoughts.' Pausing for a moment he eyed the case on his desk and said, "These are a gift from me, the case contains a 275 year old, fully operation Glock 17 and 4 empty magazines, as well as intructions on cleaning, a cleaning kit, and intructions on replicating extra ammo bessides whats in the other box.'' Seeing the look on her face, he added, "This weapon will work in areas where dampening fields prevent Phaser or energy weapon usage, and i myself always carry a .45 as my primary sidearm."

"I...I don't know what to say Sir" she took the case with a smile. "Thank you Sir. I will take the time to learn how to use this properly. As for the implants you have do all the marines have them? My husband doesn't and I can't say I've encountered others that do either." She looked at him curiously. "I never actually noticed until now that I can't read you!"

Smiling, Hurd said, "No, i am the only Marine in the Corps who have them, due to my very, very unfortionate and misguided service with Section 31".

"Thank heavens for that" she smiled. "The downside is if we needed to find you I wouldn't be able to locate you using my senses. You're a complete blank slate to me." She looked uncertain. "Sir....there's something I should tell you." She paused for a moment. "I've only recently discovered that I was...raped." She paused for a moment. "It's not recent but the memory was buried until recently. I am seeing Lieutenant Rol for counselling, I promise you I won't allow it to interfere with my duties."

His face turning a deep shade of red, he placed his hand firmly on her shoulder and said, with intensity, "Who did it, they will pay i promise you".

"I don't know Sir, at least not yet." She sighed. "I'm still working through the memories I have. It's not easy."

“Well”, Hurd said, "when you find out let me know." "I have no use for, nor do I take prisoners that commit that crime”. “I will beat him to death with my bare hands, that you can count on”.

"Aye Sir" Freya offered a smile, she had to admit the General had a way of making her feel better. "I promise you Sir, I won't let you down in the field. I've never failed in my duties yet and I don't intend to."

Pulling his hand back, Hurd saluted and said, “Of that I have no doubt, Carry on Marine”.

Freya stood to attention and saluted. "Yes Sir." She turned and headed on her way.
