Briefing for the S. O. T. personnel

Posted on Mon Oct 3rd, 2011 @ 9:30pm by Chief Petty Officer Hugh O'Reily Jr. & Ensign Dar Vox & Vice Admiral James K`Temoc Bremer

578 words; about a 3 minute read

Mission: Mission 77 - No Time for the Dishonored
Location: USS Yorktown
Timeline: present

O'Reily stood up once the Yorktown went into warp. He nodded at Dar Vox, and looked at Captain K'Temoc. "Would you like that briefing here or on another part of the ship, Captain?"

"Here is good Chief." K`Temoc replied. With the ship, as well as the rest of the Task Force, now heading for the USS Aegean, now and here was as good a place and time as any.

Dar was interested to hear what else Hugh had found as well as the weapons known to be on the ships; so he could prepare for their eventual encounter and battle. He believed in being over prepared and knowing what to expect gave him an edge in doing so.

"Very well sir." Hugh walked toward the main viewer. "Computer, O'Reily presentation Alpha One."

The stars in warp on the main viewer shifted to a diagram of a Sydney class transport.

"I'll sum up quickly what our situation is. About twelve modified Sydney class transports went missing some time ago. We believe they are in the hands of a known pirate named Clark, who possibly intends to use them to spread some chaos in the space once known as the Romulan Neutral Zone. These ships are capable of replicating photons mines with a maximum yield of 35 isotons...nearly double that of a photon torpedo. The number of mines one ship can produce is limited to the anti-matter stored," the view shifted to the insides of the modified Sydney class ship. A large storage tank in the portside cargo area was highlighted. "In these tanks. All other components are replicated, to include a cloak. The technical specifications of these weaponised replicators are amazingly complex and ground breaking. All in all, you could almost consider them on par with class 4 industrial replicators, maybe even more superior. That fact that they are in hands of a man like Clark..."

Hugh cleared his throat. "How Clark got his hands on these ships isn't important. What matter s is that he has them, and with that sort of technology, he can wreak havoc where ever he wants. I believe our only advantage is that they are in those Sydney class ships. The only modifications they have, is that their systems have been realigned and updated to support the replicators. Everything else is pretty standard. At warp four, those things aren't very fast. When these ships were modified, they were planned to plant mines as part of a solar system defense grid. The offensive weapons have even been reduced to conserve more power for the replicators. If we spot one, they should be pretty easy to take out."

Hugh crossed his arms. "Here comes the kicker. Twelve replicators were built for twelve Sydney class ships. But there are an additional three replicators, not imbedded into a ship that also went missing. If this Clark fellow figures out the system requirements for those replicators, he could easily modify them to fit into any kind of vessel he wants. And, given time, he could gut those Sydney class ships and do the same with the already imbedded replicators." He looked up at the screen. "Computer, end presentation. Any questions?"

Captain K`Temoc looked around to see everyone, no one asked any questions.

"Very well then. We're about 4 hours away from the Aegean, let's focus on her. Once we return SB400 we'll replenish the ship and head out." K`Temoc ordered as everyone got back to work.
