Mission: Episode 97 - Cultural Exchange
Location: Cardassia
Timeline: MD2 1545hrs

ON:

After leaving the USS Odyssey, Bremer, Janice, and Dow beamed down to Cardassia where they met up with Draven. The foursome walked through the craft fair, Janice buying a Romulan necklace. Mike bought a Reman jackal knife to give Commander Tamarith as a gift, her birthday was next month.

They passed a few random stands, a Cardassian minstrel, a Human barbershop quartet, and a Klingon telling the Saga of Kor.

As they made their way into the restaurant area, they passed two drunken Pakleds followed by a C'hakilian that looked lost. Dow saw an old friend from the Academy so the group stopped for a moment. Mike looked around at the various food stands. He saw Vercetti's Good Fella’s Bar and Grille (Earth's Italian Cuisine). He saw a man in the shadows close by also watching Tom's. Vito was managing, telling another man, Mike thought his name was Gabe, about taking over for a bit.

Mike then turned and ran smack into Quark.

"What where you're...ah Fleet Admiral Bremer, I didn't see you standing there." Quark said as a smile crossed his face.

"Hello Quark." Mike replied with a less than 'happy to see you' tone. "Do you have a booth here?"

"Of course. Drinks, Dabo. I figured this would be a good place to make a little profit." Quark replied.

"Maybe we'll stop by later, play a round." Mike said.

Quark laughed an obvious fake laugh. "Of course, you're always welcome. I just hope the lucky streak you had the last time you visited the bar isn't holding up."

Mike tried to smirk.

"Oh, have you heard the news about the Ferengi Alliance and the Typhon Pact?" Quark asked, fishing for information.

"No." Mike asked, concerned.

"Rom extended them a non-aggression pact and they signed. Of course Rom has no interest in the Ferengi joining the Pact, but with tensions between the Alliance and Pact so high, he didn't want the Ferengi to be caught in the middle. Besides, like the thirty-fifth Rule of Acquisition says, 'Peace is good for business'. And well, if a war does break out, the thirty-forth Rule says, 'War is good for business'." Quark tried to laugh, but deep down even he was worried another war for the galaxy was on the horizon.

Mike narrowed his eyes. "See you later Quark."

Quark nodded, then turned and walked off with another Ferengi. "He's just like Odo, always around."

Mike looked back at his wife and friends. "Lek, can you see if you can confirm this Ferengi non-aggression pact with the Typhon Pact?"

"I'll do it. I'm not hungry, and to be honest I really don't want to be down here." Janice looked around at several Cardassians nearby. She wasn't sure why, but some old memories from the Dominion War had crept into his memory while they had been walking around.

"You sure?" Mike asked.

"Thanks Janice." Lek said.

Mike kissed his wife and a moment later she beamed back up to the Pegasus.

Two drunk Pakleds walked by. The three watched them for a second, raised an eye brow, thinking they had seen them before, then shook it off.

"Let's go eat." Dow said as he patted both men on the back.

Mike let a brief smile flash as the three walked toward the food stands.
