Mission:
Episode 96 - A Visitor From the Past
Location: Cameron's private quarters
Cameron woke up fairly early as was his norm after so many years. However today was a slightly different day, this was one of his days off and he relished what he would do today.
He reduced the gravity in his quarters to nil and floated over to the chest of drawers pulling out a nice set of casual cloths he dressed in zero G and floated into his chair before turning the gravity back to normal. Wandering to himself how he ever got along without the computer to adjust the gravity when he needed it, it made things so much easier.
Now dressed and ready to face the day he glided out to the main room and fixed himself a large breakfast consisting of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, milk and OJ. He sat down and dug in while reading a couple of the perodicals that he subscribed to. After all there were other mechanics out their and everyone for the most part shared what they learned or discovered. Cameron himself had been published a fair few times and he was always on the lookout to learn something new. He finished breakfast and carried everything back to the replicator so it could be reclaimed then glided into the living room and parking in an area that looked like it should have a recliner in it but instead had his hoverchair. He turned on the vid screen and watched a couple of shows that he had gotten hooked on back on earth. Space monkey garage, and Counting shuttles. Both shows he knew cut out alot of the background work only focusing on the big flashy parts but still they were interesting and he learned things from them as well. It did not hurt that he knew the main stars of the shows personally and could call them up if he found himself doing something similar.
With the shows over and more then a few notes and ideas jotted down on a PADD Cameron glided over to a music stand and picked up the sax. THe same one that he had found all those years ago on new dakota. He looked through the music assortment he had and considering he was not exactly in the mood for classical he picked a couple jazz tunes and started in playing. He made it through both songs a couple of times each before deciding that enough was enough he would have to find some new music someplace to expand his collection.
A quick lunch and Cameron was heading down the hall to one of the public holodecks he had reserved some time and wanted to get in some target practice after all he did not want to get rusty. He glided into the holodeck and ran the program. It was simple enough a line of posts spaced at random intervals each post had a ring eith hanging down or perched on top of the post. Cameron pulled out his bullwhip and after a couple minutes of warmup felt he was ready to give the course a try. He positioned the chair at one end of the course and programed in a speed as well as a totally random elivation of the course. When the program started the result was that he managed to get onlt 12 of the 36 rings. Still it felt good to hear the crack of the whip as it broke the sound barrier and considering he was running the course at 15 miles per hour he felt for the first round he did pretty good. He ran the course four more times and when he finally tired out he was able to get 24 of the 36 rings.
He left the holodeck and headed back to his quarters to take a shower and change cloths and would spend the next few hours reading over his periodical before doing some weight training that mainly involved lifing himsef and his chair up at leat 10 times and doing several bench presses. He would take one more shower before fixing himself a light supper and doing some more reading before heading to bed. After all tomarrow was a work day.
