Mission:
Episode 95 - Helping Old Friends
Location: Sickbay, Main bay
Timeline: MD 10 0700 hours
ON:
Braxton finished clearing the bio bed and the tools. He was finishing his hours and since sickbay was short staffed, again, he was pitching in. His mind was jumbled but he was able to concentrate enough to do this work. Work always calmed him. He looked at his next appointment, "Maria Garabaldi." He said. Standing up he walked over to the waiting area and called her name.
When her name was called, Maria rose from the plastic chair, her son was still distracted by the small padd she had given him, learning a very important rule from her mother, always bring something to keep a kid distracted or you will regret it. Especially at age 3. So she had brought the game padd, thankfully the knowledge game she put on there had blinky lights and flashing things to keep a 3 year old enthralled. "Come on." She took his hand. "Time to see the doctor."
Still half distracted he let her tug him in to sickbay.
Braxton reviewed both files quickly and then motioned to a bio bed. "Now who's going first?" He studied the pair. The boy seemed distracted so this was perhaps the best time to scan him and make sure he was okay.
Roberto stared over at the strange man, he was waving something in his face. Did this mean shots? Was he going to get shots, he hated shots.... His expression became wary as he watched the doctor.
Braxton pressed a few buttons which would lock in the read outs. He tapped something out on the screen and smiled, "Well. Mr. Roberto looks like you are in good health." He walked over to a drawer on the wall and pulled something out hiding it behind his back. He walked back to the bio bed. "I am afraid though, to stay healthy you will require one thing."
Braxton pulled out two Bajoran sweet sticks, much like lollipops but a bit sweeter. "Take one a day." He smiled handing the boy the candy. To Maria he turned, "He's alright and all his shots are up to date."
Roberto took the candy with open glee, candy was awesome. He caught his mother's look, and said simply "thank you."
Maria nodded, manners were very important, she then nodded to the doctor, "Good, his shot records should be in the documents transmitted from his doctor back on earth."
"Alright Maria, your turn." He picked up the tricorder. "How has your health been recently?"
"Not too bad." She shrugged, doing a slight self catalogue, the dreams were less frequent, though Roberto had given her a few sleepless nights. Ok more then a few.
Braxton finished his scan of Maria, "Your cholesterol is a bit off and your blood pressure a bit high. Tell me about your diet." He said.
She paused, "Well I do cook, lots of pastas and stuff...." She did go over her daily routine, not too bad but perhaps she was heavy on the butter and cream for cooking.
"I see." He walked over to some empty PaDDs and finished downloading something. He handed it to her. "Special diet to help with cholesterol and Blood pressure. You need to take care of yourself for the little one." He looked at her records. "You have an outstanding shot as well." He started prepping a hypo. "This is standard on all stations. It is to assist with motion sickness. Somehow it's more an issue on stations then on ships." He pressed the hypo to her neck allowing it to hiss out its dose. "Now how is your sleep pattern?"
" I get sleep, not as much as I should, but blame him." She gestured to Roberto who was fixated on the tablet.
He smiled, "I see. Well then if he's the cause of lack of sleep we'll let it slide." He ruffled the boys hair affectionately. He often wondered if Nicole had carried the children to term would they have been boys or girls or a mix. He tried not to let it show. He shook his head. "Alright. Everything looks clear. I would like to have the receptionist set regular check ups for you. You would fall under....Doctor Hades." He said as he checked the roster. He is away but will return soon. I'll let up a meeting for you when he returns. He will be your family physician. Until then the bay is always open."
"Thank you doctor." She smiled at him then collected her son who waved at him, "Bye." Roberto said.
He smiled, "Not a doctor yet. I'm a Marine medic and just finishing MD exams. But you are most welcome. "Bye Roberto. Welcome to both of you."
