Mission:
Episode 94 - Return to Rashanar
Location: Admiral Bremer's Office
Timeline: MD04 1200 hours
ON:
Hades had arrived yesterday with the Mercy. It had take the day and most of the night to sort out all that was on board. He'd worked late, families had to be notified, equipment stored and checked. He'd slept but two hours. This morning he'd shown up to have breakfast with Shrivol but had been stood up. He'd felt miserable and tired and then he'd received a summons to meet Bremer in his office.
Hades had gone back to sickbay, picked up his med bag, and headed to the Admirals office. He hoped that the Admiral was well. He stood outside the office now. He took a deep breath calmed himself and rang the chime.
Mike was looking over a report asking him to send an additional ship to patrol along the edge of the Triangle close to the Romulan border. The USS Memphis had been in that area but had to pull out due to an issue with their gravitation generators. Since the Kearsarge was still powered up following it's trip to Rashanar Mike sent a message to Commander Shaval to take the Intrepid class vessel out to patrol the area. Shaval was a new member of the crew, arriving only a week before, but the Vulcan wasn't new to the command chair.
When the door chimed Mike didn't look up immediately as he finished typing his orders out. "Come."
After a moment he looked up at Doctor Hades. "Ah, Doctor, please have a seat, I'm just finishing up some orders for the Kearsarge."
Hades gave a nod. The Admiral looked well. "You are well sir?" He had to ask, just to make sure. He sat down across from the Admiral and placed his medical bag on the floor by his feet.
Mike finished his orders and sent them off, then looked up and smiled. "Yes, I'm fine. Actually, I've asked you here to talk about the recent mission to Rashanar and the Chief Medical Officer position."
Hades looked up a bit confused. Rashanar he could talk about but the Chief Medical Officer position. "Chief Medical Officer position?" He asked in a hushed tone.
"As you know, Doctor Thr'elanon was... MIA for the Rashanar mission. He's now taken a leave before he starts a new position. You handled the stress of the Rashanar mission well, just like everything else you've taken care of since you arrived on the station." Mike stood up, "I'm promoting you to Lieutenant Commander and to the position of Chief Medical Officer." He extended his hand, "Congratulations Doctor."
Hades listened to the words carefully. Shrivol was taking leave and moving on? That's why he'd missed their dinner date last night, and breakfast date this morning. Not a word. Hades was on his way to Shrivol's quarters when the reminder about this meeting had come. He'd gotten a look at the computer and it said Shrivol was not on the station. He thought it a glitch. His heart...felt shattered. He shook the Admiral's hand. "T...thank you, sir. So Doctor Thr'elanon isn't on the station anymore?" He had to make sure he understood right. Shrivol had just left without saying goodbye, without a word.
"Correct, he departed on the morning transport." Bremer replied. "You should be hearing from Admiral T'Lar soon regarding our upcoming trip to the Delta Quadrant next week as well."
Hades gave a nod, using the silence to gather his thoughts. "O..of course. I will assist in anyway that I can." A dull ache settled in his chest. "I guess I should head back to sickbay. The inventory from the medical ship is coming in." Truth was he needed some time on his own to process everything.
Mike nodded. "Thank you Doctor."
