Episode 94 - Return to Rashanar
Location: Ready Room, U.S.S. Falcon
Timeline: MD1 Current
ON:
Tapping a button on his desk, Hurd said, "I need the following personnel to report to the Falcon's Ready Room." "Major McMichaels, Major Lennox, as well as Captain Casion, please be here ASAP, Hurd out.
Patrick was excited about serving on the Falcon. It was the newest Interceptor-class ship. When the communique came through, he was ready and transported over. "Major McMichaels, reporting in, Colonel" he said with a salute.
"Have a seat and wait for the others," Hurd said.
Deborah was just under a half kilometer away on the farside of Marine country.. She was feeling wonderful now that she was back in action.. She ,ade her way to the General's office with a little more speed than before, hot blooded and eager.. Amir was feeling it to.. After about four minutes she entered the breifing room and saluted her senior officers.. "Captain Casion reporting as ordered.." She said smoothly...
"No need to salute Captain, im just a Colonel, please have a seat while we wait for the other person to join us, then we can get started"
She nodded, It felt good... to be back at it, She'd been out of the loop.. It was so good to be able to do her job.. She took a hot sweet tea mug from the replicator and took a seat on the Colonel's left... Amir climbed around Deb's shoulders to get at the pouch of Jerky Deb always carried.. She scanned for Calthier as she sat.. She loved him, intensely... and missed him every moment they were apart...
Patrick greeted Deborah, as he'd been there during her rough recovery. "Glad to see you're functioning again, Captain Casion. You had us worried" he said, giving her a handshake
She signed than smiled.. "It was touch and go.. I don't blame mostly everyone from staying clear, death is an evil bastard to fight..." "Can't wait to get going again..."
Tapping his combadge, Hurd said, "Major Lennox to my ready room."
Lennox let out a deep breath then rolled over and tapped his commbadge that was laying on the side table, "On my way Colonel." He then rolled back over and kissed the woman laying in bed next to him. 'What's her name again' he thought to himself as he stood to get dressed.
Colonel Hurd just sat there, waiting for Lennox to arrive, think of what he was going to say, because which ever way he said it, it was bound to elicit emotions, even from this group of battle hardend people."
When Lennox finally arrived he looked around for a moment. He wasn't one that was typically late or on report...but last night had been amazing and he lost all track of time. He knew he wasn't due on duty, so he wondered what was going on. Once in Hurd's Office he snapped to attention. "Major Lennox reporting as ordered Colonel."
Patrick waited for the Colonel to give them the specifics of their mission. As XO, he'd need to help those orders out.
"Alright lets get started." "Now first i want to make sure you are ready for what we will see and encounter." "You will see scenes of utter devistation, see ships you may have served on hanging dead and lifeless in space, see and possibly have to handle the bodies of people you served with and God forbid the bodies of loved ones, so I ask here and now," Hurd said looking around the room, "Can you handle this?"
Patrick considered all his tours and missions. It was entirely possible a former crew mate could be out there. He'd faced death before. *That which doesn't kill you, makes you stronger * he thought. "I can handle it, Colonel" he said
"Very well, everyone else?."
Being one of the newest in the regiment, Deb had actually not made many friends. Considering everything she was more than ready. "I'm ready to get back General,, More than you know..." Death had matured her thinking, A little, she'd beaten death but understood to well it was gunning for her... Deborah said evenly. Amir climbed up to her shoulder to watch and listen...
Lennox waited for the others to reply. He had a few friends killed in that battle but their bodies had been recovered during the first expedition to clear the boneyard in 2380. Either way, they had a job to do and they were Marines, it wouldn't be anything they hadn't seen before." No concerns about that from me Colonel, however a question. With the possibility of scavengers in the area, what are our standing orders toward them?"
"Standing orders for the scavengers are to scare them off, use of lethal force is only authorized in extreme situations and even then try to disable the enemy vessel before destroying them.
Lennox nodded. “Understood.”
Turning to Deb, Hurd said, "what is your appraisement of the Paris Island, and our chances of getting emergency power back online, as well as artificial gravity and getting those hull breeches sealed with forcefields? "
Deborah sighed sadly. "Honestly Sir, shes done, not space worthy.. I suggest complete evac. We could push her into the sun. Give her an honorable end...
==Marine barracks ==
Calthier was glad to be chosen for this mission. With his senses, he would be an asset if there were any survivors or if there was fighting.
==Meeting Room=
Looking at his CEO, Hurd said, "Can we at least get seal those breaches, get emergency power back back online, and get the artificial gravity online long enough to accomplish our goals aboard the ship?"
Deborah closed her eyes... Thinking hard It was just so bad..... "You know when we spiders think our home is getting beat up, we create another layer... Amir toned easily.. Deb's eyes burst open.. That was it!!! "Sir can give it atmosphere at least. And heat. We extend our shields around her and pump atmosphere in. Easy but we're sitting ducks. "
"Very Good, Other concerns, voice them", Hurd said, looking around the room.
Lennox looked around for a moment then back to Hurd. He had no other questions at the time.
"If there are no other questions then you are all dismissed".
