Mission: Episode 92 - More Questions than Answers
Location: Solomon's quarters
Timeline: MD5 2000hrs onwards

Following a very busy day where Jack had spent most of the last shift working with Chief White on the damaged Romulan vessel, he was glad to be coming off shift and heading home for the night. As he left Main Engineering, Jack stopped and remembered that he had made plans to meet with Deela for dinner before the mission that took place with the Romulan officers defecting.

He tapped his combadge as he sat in his office, finishing off the reports from the day.

"=/\= Solomon to T'Lar=/\=" he requested as he closed off one of the PADDs he was working on.

"T'Lar here." She was resting up after taking care of problems that seemed to plague several crewmembers.

"I was wondering if you had any plans tonight? I know we spoke of dinner before our Romulan friends decided to add in some excitement recently and wondered if you were free?" he asked, secretly hoping that she would be free to meet up. Jack kept telling himself he needed to spend more time with her if this was going to be a long term relationship.

"I would love to. I could use the distraction. What time and where?" His timing couldn't be better.

Jack smiled as he had a thought. "How about my place for a change, say for 2000 hours?" He offered to her. So far they'd had a date at Deela's and on the holodeck, so he decided it was about time to offer up his place.

"Your place, got it." Smiling, "See you then." Deela leaned back on her couch finding herself still smiling.

Jack headed off to his quarters after Deela's agreement and once he arrived, he began sorting out his dining room so that it was fit for guests. Once finished he took a quick sonic shower and then made sure that he was dressed comfortably in some off duty civvies.

As 2000 hours approached, Jack ordered some food and some wine to make sure dinner would be served for when she arrived. Jack had noticed that Deela was looking tired of late and he was hoping that tonight would help with that.

Deela got dressed and waited for the sitter for her kids. She made her way to Solomon's quarters, rang the chime and waited.

Jack answered the door chime and smiled as he saw Deela waiting. "Please come in," he said politely and gave her a gentle kiss as she entered. "I'm hoping tonight will offer some form of relaxation for you, I've noticed how tired you've been looking and I'm worried about you," Jack explained further as he poured a glass of wine. His concern was genuine and he made sure she understood that.

"Thank you." She walked in and started loading on him, "Quite honestly, it is my son, Brandon. He looked up his heritage and he read up on Betazoids and it has made him scared. I keep trying to tell him that he has a few more years before his abilities come into play but he is not convinced. To tell you the truth, I am not really sure when it will happen. He is more human than Betazoid or Vulcan so I am not even sure if he will even get them. But all last night, he kept telling me that he was sensing things from people on the base. I cannot deny or confirm it." She looked at him, realizing what she was doing, "I am sorry. I did not mean to dump on you like this so soon."

Jack sat next to Deela as she explained the issues she was having with Brandon and understood why she was so tired. He took her hand in his gently.

"Hey, its ok. You can offload on me at any time. That's what I'm here for," Jack explained. He considered the problem for a moment. "Is it possible that what he's read has scared him in some way about what could happen should he develop any abilities when he's older?" he wondered out aloud to Deela.

"It is definitely a possibility. I do know he was scared last night. It can be, especially for a child. It is hard enough for an adult to handle."

Jack had a moment of thought. "I have two ideas. My first is to see if we can get Brandon looked over to see if there's any way to find out if something is going on," he suggested. "My second idea is, if your ok with this, is if I have a chat with him sometime? Maybe that could offer some insight?" He offered.

"There is and I was thinking the same thing. It could happen anywhere between 10 and 12. I really do not think he will though. His father was human and I am not a full blooded Betazoid. I am not even sure if he will have telepathic abilities. There are too many factors to be sure." She paused for a moment, "You are welcome anytime to talk to him. Now that Paul Harrison is no longer here, he really does not have any adult male to talk to."

Jack nodded in agreement. "Ok, so lets arrange an appointment with the Doc to see if there is anything happening to him and I'm happy to talk to Brandon anytime you feel is best," he explained, hoping this would help to alleviate some of her stress.

"Sounds good." Deela now focused on Solomon, "How about you? How have things been going for you since we last saw each other?"

Jack let out a small laugh as she asked her question. "Busy doesn't even cover it. Since becoming Chief Engineer, its been non stop and I can understand why Coleman put in the hours he did," Jack explained as he took a sip of wine. "However, I can't complain. The work on refitting the Pegasus is going well and I've got teams working on the Romulan vessel since we got back..." at that point, Jack realised something.

"Bloody hell, I think this is my first night off in over two weeks!" he exclaimed. "Although, I'm very happy to be spending some time with you again. I have missed you."

Deela smiled, "Me too. It is always something here on the base, Is it not? I do not remember being busy like this when I was out there, commanding the Essex." She sipped some of her wine, "Let us just forget about work and concentrate on us tonight."

"That's the best plan I've heard all day... Now what can I interest you in the way of dinner? Is there anything you would like that will help you relax more?" Jack offered. His aim for the evening was to enjoy Deela's company and to help her relax.

Deela looked down at her glass, then looked back up at Jack, grinning "Another glass of wine?"

Jack smiled as he poured her another glass of wine. Once poured himself another glass, he settled on the sofa next to Deela.

As for dinner, she wasn't starving, not yet. Just being there with him was enough for her for now. Once he poured her another glass of wine, she moved closer to Jack, nestling up to him and relaxed in his arms, "What were we talking about? Oh yes, dinner. Seafood. I have found it to very relaxing."

Jack relaxed as Deela settled into him and took a sip of his wine. "Seafood you say? Ok, that's a new one on me...so are you hungry? Maybe I can whip you up something to eat?" He offered, although he was hoping she was comfortable where she was.

"No, not now." She was happy where she was, "I miss this, just relaxing on the couch with the one I love." She laughed at herself at what she just said, "Ugh, I sound like love sick puppy."

Jack held Deela gently and kissed her on the forehead. "No, not soppy at all," he said. "However, I am happy that your relaxing finally and that I am the one you love...that means so much to me," he answered and gently relaxed with Deela in his arms.

"Good." Deela hadn't felt this content in a long time, "Because I really want you in mine and my children's lives." She didn't want to rush their relationship but she needed him to know how she felt.

Jack smiled as she made her feelings clear about this relationship. "Thank you foe being honest with me. I want to be a part of your life and to be part of your children's lives. I'm not afraid to be there for them and to help them as they grow up," he explained. Jack looked at Deela as he said "I love you."

With that, she smiled and she kissed him. Although she could sense what he was feeling, she still needed to hear those three words.
