Jewel and reviewed what Mike had sent her and also sent her sister a message reassuring her, well at least trying to that everything was going to be alright. She kept an eye on the situation to the best of her abilities anyways on what's going on out there.
She just looked around, "Major General Hurd to Fleet Admiral Sevlek any updates on the situation that you know of that I myself can't detect from our sensors?" She asked as she was at the edge of her seat so to speak.
Sevlek tapped his combadge as he watched the holographic display update in real time. "Negative. Any information I have access to, that you do not is on a need to know classification." He knew many humans disliked being denied access to information they felt they should have. Most species disliked it.
Jewel sighed, "very well." Jewel replied as she then ended the comm channel.
Lwazanda Ral didn't like being away from the action. Aboard Starbase 400 the action, it seemed, took place in Ops. Lwazanda wore a bright smile as she made her way into the station's operation centre, knowing full well she had no place there.
A young Ensign noticed her entrance and immediately moved to intercept her. "I'm sorry ma'am but you don't have clearance to be here."
Aghast, Lwazanda moved in close to the Ensign, "I beg your pardon?" She spat, "I would think that over thirty years in service to the Federation would give me clearance to monitor a situation that has everything to do with the security of the Fedderation."She paused, "Step aside, Ensign." She said, her entire being resonated.
The Ensign complied, and Lwazanda strode smuggly past him.
She then looked over were the talking was, "Excuse me Miss Ral you can not be up here. I need you to leave," Jewel said with a stern voice.
"Yes, the Ensign had the same misguided logic." The Betazoid stepped around Jewel, "It must feel terrible to be wrong." She said without turning to face Hurd.
Taking a deep breathe she was about to knock this woman out but she knew better. She tried to keep her anger under control and remember she was now a Diplomatic Officer. "Fine you can stay but DO NOT touch anything do I make myself clear?" She asked looking at the woman.
She then looked at Sogh M'Kota, "You will be her escort while she is here in ops make sure she doesn't touch anything or get in anyone's way." Jewel ordered looking at her.
"Understood sir," M'Kota stated as she did what she as told.
Lwazanda gasped,"I hardly think I need a babysitter." She pursued Jewel, "I have been on more ships and stations in my lifetime than you can ever hope to see. Not once have I ever been treated with such blatant distrust."
She had about enough of this woman, "If you don't like it there is the lift you can leave. But while you are in Ops, which is off limits to civilians that doesn't have authorization there will be a security escort!" she stated then walked away as she didn't want to hear her mouth again. She had other things she had to do.
About that time her husband came in carrying there son, "Ah some relief." She stated as she took her son from David and held him for a bit. "So how is he doing?" Jewel asked her husband. "He been good, little fussy now again but nothing to be concerned about." David smiled.
She nodded as she cuddled her son. This was what she needed to get through this touch situation.
Sickbay
Becca was in Sickbay, she was helping the regular Medical Staff prepare medkits and other medical and relief equipment that might be needed if the Borg attacked. She was nervous about the situation, not just for herself but also for her father and brother were out there confronting the Borg now. She wondered if anyone else from her and K’Wor’s class at the Academy were also deployed to assist in defense efforts.
Bremer’s Quarters
Janice was also a nervous wreck. She wanted to march into Ops and tell Jewel she was taking her old ship, the Durga, and go assist the Pegasus’s Task Force but logically she also knew the Durga was probably already deployed in some defensive formation within the Kaleb Sector right now. She watched Christopher playing in the floor for a few more minutes, then made up her mind.
“Come on Christopher, we’re going to Ops.”
Christopher jumped to his feet and smiled. He liked Ops, all the lights, activity, he thought it was an amazing place.
Several minutes later, Janice and Christopher arrived in Ops. Janice looked around and found Jewel over to the side and looking a little frustrated.
“Jewel, has there been any further contact with the Pegasus’s group?” Janice asked.
She shook her head, "Not as of yet." Jewel replied to her sister.
“Damnit.” Janice replied. “And Sevlek won’t tell you anything?”
She shook her head, "No but, I am sure he has his reasons and I will not argue with a Vulcan as it will get me no where." Jewel replied with a smile.
"We'll see." Janice replied as she stormed out of Ops.
Mar’g and Zark were standing to the side of Ops near the turbolift. The Ferengi were enamored Ral, her looks and the way she dressed, they knew she had to have latinum, and they had followed her to Ops. With the crew in Ops distracted with Ral, Janice Bremer trying to get information about the task force, and other crewmembers doing their duties, the two stood to the side and watched.
“Look at how she stands.” Mar’g said.
“And how she holds her hands...I bet she gives good oo-mox.” Zark replied.
“We need to get her into the shop, if she buys anything then we’ll know she has latinum.” Mar’g added.
“And then we can make her and offer she can’t refuse.” Zark added with a toothy grin.
The Ferengi brothers had been rather well behaved for some time now. Threats from Bremer had helped, as has an ass whoopen from Tom Vercetti when the two tried to break into the 'Good Fellas Italian Bar and Grille' and tried to steal a few cases of liquor and fine wines. They still aggravated Crumm, trying to get some of guests from entering the ‘Skyline Lounge’ and instead trying to get them to their own bar and shop instead. They enjoyed ‘competing for business’ with Crumm, he wasn’t as violent as Vercetti. Of course they had tried their game with Tiza Retis when she came aboard, but after getting nowhere with her they stopped. Now however, there was someone new on the Station...
She was watching Janice leave, while M'Kota was keeping an eye on Ral. She then noticed out of the corner of her eye the two trouble makers of the station. "Hey you two, I think you need to leave and remember what Admiral Bremer stated no causing trouble!" She warned looking at the two.
Mar’g gave a bow with a toothy grin while Zarg gave a slightly less bow while saying, “We’re not causing trouble. We’re just, observing.” A smile crossed his lips as both Ferengi stood up, their eyes fixed on Ral
Lwazanda spotted the Ferengi looking at her, and a shiver shot up her spine. She despised Ferengi. They were always working an angle, and to top it off they refused to take 'no' .
"There better not be!" She barked, "M'Kota make sure you keep an eye on these two as well." She ordered as M'Kota just nodded.
Janice was furious, she wanted some kind of update on her husband and the task force. Jewel had her hands full with the Station and hadn’t been given any updated information. Only one person on the Station had any real info and that was Fleet Admiral Sevlek.
Exiting the turbolift on Deck Four, she noted a Security Officer at the end of the corridor, that would be where Sevlek was. They walked toward the door, Christopher looked around at everything, then focusing on the Security Officer. The six year old obviously posed no threat, but the Officer stepped forward when the former Marine General approached.
“Ma’am, you’re not authorized to be here.” The Security Officer spoke.
“The hell I’m not. My Husband is the Commanding Officer of the Station and I hold the rank of General in the Starfleet Marine Corps. I need to talk with Fleet Admiral Sevlek, now.” Janice angrily replied.
The security officer entered the request into the console, sending a message to Sevlek who exited from the Beta Quadrant Command Center and approached the retired General. He approached and said, "You requested to speak with me, general?"
Janice took a deep breath so she wouldn’t sound so...bitchy...but before she could speak, Christopher did. “Where’s my daddy?”
Janice’s temper seemed to calm a little as she looked down at her youngest child. She flashed a smile at him, then looked back up at Sevlek. “I want an update on the Task Force the Pegasus is leading, and don’t give me any ‘not authorized’ stuff we both know I still have Top Secret clearance. I don’t want any sensitive data, I just want to know the status of the Pegsaus.
Sevlek looked at the general and spoke, "You are not authorized for any more information than is already readily available to the general senior staff of this station." He paused and before she could protest, "I will not give you any further information on the situation involving the task group. However, I will tell you that Mike is fine." He knew the use of a first name would calm the woman down some. She knew that he and Mike were as close to a friendship as any Vulcan would admit. "If anything changes that warrants worry or emergency contact. You will be the fourth to know, you have my word."
Janice relaxed a little of her tension when she heard Mike was all right, while the information was vague it was more than she’d had before. “You know about his previous encounter with the Borg.” She paused, Sevlek was a Vulcan, he didn’t care about the story, instead he just needed to facts, “Please let me know if you hear anything else.”
Sevlek nodded, "I will." Before he turned to walk away he looked down at Christopher and asked, "Would you like me to send a message to your father for you?"
Christopher looked up at his Mother, then to the Vulcan he didn't know. Shyness suddenly overcame in the six year old as he took a step back and slightly behind his Mother. "Yes sir, tell him to come home so he can play with me."
The Vulcan flag officer looked at the small child peaking from behind his mother and said, "I will give him your message." Sevlek looked at Janice, "General, if you'll excuse me, I must return to the Command Center." Without waiting for a reply, he nodded to the security guard and walked back through the doors that separated the Beta Quadrant Command Center from the rest of the station.
Janice wasn't happy. She knew Mike was alive, but that's it, and being kept in the dark really aggravated her. She really wanted a drink, but promised Mike she wouldn't. She let out a breath, then her and Christopher left.
Level 98, Maximum Security Brig
A man sat in his cell. He was quietly counting to himself. When he reached ten, he dropped back to the floor and started doing push-ups again, another set of twenty-five...his fifth set.
Two Security Officers sat behind the Security Console.
“That’s his fifth set, and the tenth day in a row.”
“He’s always done some kind of exercise, but he’s been really been working out the last few days.”
“Yeah, you’re right, ever since that Regional JAG Officer visited him. I guess the old guy really pissed him off.”
“Guess we should send a report to Commander Lokran, and the Admiral.”
The man in the cell had listened to the Security Officers talking and as he rolled over to start his fifth set of twenty-five sit ups he smirked.
As the new Commanding Officer for the 327th Infantry Regiment, Hondo always made it a point to visit the Brig or the Stockade whenever she took command of a new unit, mostly it was to talk to the Brig Officer, and to find out what their policy was on releasing a member of her command to their respective commanders.
Walking around after being given the authority to visit, she passed by the Security Console, and introduced herself as the new Regiment Commander for the 327th, and as she talked to the two corrections officers behind the console, she asked if there was anyone from her command in the brig...
Ensign Vega had arrived in the Brig for his rotation just after the Major. "Ma'am" he said from behind "At this time, we don't have any Marines confined to the Brig. Many of the Marines, including the senior leadership are off the Station right now, but I'm sure you're already aware of that. If we do have any brought in, I'll personally advise you. Brigadire General Hurd is in temporary command of the Station, she's in Ops, you might want to ask her if any Marines have been placed on report while General Jackson has been away."
Turning around at the voice of Ensign Vegan, Hondo said thank you Ensign, and as she finished her tour of the Brig she said this Brig is better set up than the one at Galahad Marine Corp Base. But I will be expecting any reports of any Marines assigned to my command. Then after saying good by to the two Brig officers she was about to depart when she said "Gentlemen, who is the senior Brig officer?" and how can I make an appointment to met with him or her.
"The reason I would like to meet with this person is to establish my policy for the the 327th Infantry Regiments prisoner release, and as the Commander of the 327th, I have some requirements that I would like to have done prior to any of my Marines being release from the brig.
So if you all can help me, I'd appreciate it.... Then Artemisia walked out of the brig to finish her tour of the massive Starbase.
Ops
Mar'g and Zark were still watching Ral. Finally, Zark stepped forward, "Lwazanda, you are a magnificent creature, even with clothing. Your Betazoid skills could be useful, and I find you very attractive."
"I'm sorry, do we know one another?" Lwazanda asked, her nose wrinkled at the sight of the Ferengi.
Zark smirked, "Not yet, but perhaps we can change that?"
Mar'q also smirked in the background.
Lwazanda scoffed in disgust at their advances, and stormed to the opposite side of the Operations center. 'How dare they?!' She thought, projecting the thought outward to all the officer's who were working. "So Sorry." She called around the room, an answer for the confused looks that were being exchanged.
Mar'q looked at his brother, "That didn't go so well brother."
Lwazanda looked back at the Ferengi, and turned away immediately. Ferengi had always made her ,and most other Betazoids uncomfortable. Their appearances certainly didn't help the situation.
"Major." Lwazanda called to Hurd from across Ops.
Jewel didn't move at first, then when she realized Ral was talking to her she looked back. "It's General actually..."
"Who are those Ferengi, and should I be worried about them?" Ral asked, stepping towards Jewel.
She shook her head no, "They are harmless, but like all Ferengi they want whatever they feel will bring them profit."
"Handsome and smart." The Betazoid woman replied, pating Jewel on the cheek gently.
"As you were Major. I'll be in the temporary steerage cabin I've been assigned. Carry On." She said with innocence as she stepped into the lift.
"It's General..." She shook her head, what was the point in correcting her now
