Departing to face the Borg

Mission: Episode 89 - Futility's Return
Location: USS Pegasus
Timeline: MD2 0101hrs, Following 'Sheepdogs Ready'

ON:

Pegasus, Bridge

After his brief words to Hurd, Mike received word that all ships were ready to depart. Mike took a breath then started to give orders.

"Pegasus to Task Force. Let's move." Simple, but nothing else needed to be said.

After closing the comm, Mike spoke to his own Bridge crew. "Archer, release docking supports and umbilicals. Chief, back us away."

In a slow, smooth motion, the Pegasus started to back away from her docking bay. Above, below, and to each side the Yorktown, Essex, Saratoga, and Venator also started to move. Within moments, the Pegasus started to turn to face the giant space doors as they opened.

"One quarter impulse Chief, take us out." Mike said as a slight smile crossed his face. He always liked this part.

A few more moments later the Pegasus passed out of the doors and into space. She was quckly followed by the Essex, Saratoga, Yorktown, and Venator in that order. As the ships moved away from the Station they formed up into a standard Starfleet defensive formation.

"We're clear and free to navigate, sir." Chief Branson reported from Flight Control.

"Full impulse Chief, take us to the outer marker. Mister Coleman, ready the Slipstream Drive systems" Bremer order.

A few minutes later the ships passed out of the Kalab system and the outer marker. "Engage Slipstream Chief."

In a flash, the ships of the Task Force blasted off toward the last known location of the USS Houston...
