Clifford waited until the door of the turbolift fully opened before walking out on to the bridge, still wearing his jeans and tee-shirt. He spotted the Admiral sitting in the centre seat, "Captain Clifford, reporting for duty, Admiral."

Deela observed him for a moment, "Did you forget something?"

Andrew looked down at his non-uniform, his heart sank. "Yes Admiral, sorry. I didn't get chance to change back on the station, so I thought I would change once we were en-route." once he had finished speaking, he shrugged and just stood there.

Deela stood up and approached him. She always had hated the proper military etiquette and it wasn't the way she liked running her ship. Deela smiled as she spoke, "I am just giving you a hard time. I guess I still need to work on my humor. We have known each other for how long? You know that I am not a stickler for the rules. If I had a choice, I'd let everyone wear shirts and jeans BUT, we know Starfleet would frown about it."

Andrew looked at her and shook his head, "I guess I'm not very perceptive at the moment, Admiral. I can go change now if you want."

Deela put her hand on his shoulder, "Once you get settled, you can change then." Deela was worried about him still, "Solomon should be arriving soon as well as Lokran. Almost like old times, isn't it?"

He reached up and put his hand on hers, "Thank you." He took his hand away, then looked at the ceiling, "I'm not dealing with this very well." He looked back at Deela "I need help, don't I ?" He felt relieved at finally voicing it.

"Yes, you should talk to someone." Deela paused for a moment, "You know. I was quite the counselor back in my early days of Starfleet. If you want to talk about it on a deeper level, you know where to find me." Deela smiled.

He glanced at the main viewer, then looked back at Deela, "It is a bit like old times, isn't it. It's certainly good to be back on board the Essex again, although given where we are heading, I would have preferred the old ship."

"I agree. The Sovereign class would have been more of an formidable opponent. It was born out the necessity for more combat oriented starships to help combat the Borg Collective. But since we don't have the Sovereign class, we will have to make due with this one."

Andrew smiled, "And she'll give a good account of herself, as well. Even more so once I get 50 Photon Torpedoes swapped out for Quantum Torpedoes. The Photons are already off the ship and the Quantums are being loaded." He winked at Deela, "I did try to get some more Transphasic Torpedoes, but there weren't any available."

"Aww, too bad. I guess we will just have to be satisfied with the Quantums." Deela glanced around the bridge and sighed as she thought about fighting the Borg, "You had better get changed. The rest of the crew should be arriving very soon."

Andrew nodded, "On my way, Admiral. See you in a bit." With that he walked quickly off the bridge heading for his quarters and a fresh uniform.

Deela smiled and spoke to no one in particular, "Just like old times."
