Sevlek entered the Beta Quadrant Command Operations Center and moved directly to where Colonel Andrenicus was. The other man was deep into something on the console's viewing screen and didn't notice the Vulcan arrive.
Before Sevlek reached his area, the marine looked up, "Ensign Richards."
A young, smooth faced ensign looked up from his console, "Colonel, sir, what did you need?"
Andrenicus entered a few commands on his own console then spoke, "Run that diagnostic routine on Alpha-3-7-2's communication control and routing systems."
The other man looked down at his screen, "Got it, sir. It'll take a few minutes and, honestly, there's no telling how accurate it will be from here. When the Tuskegee> arrives on station, we'll know more. So I'm also going to attach this program you've sent me to the next data-packet being sent to them."
Andrenicus nodded and looked up to see Sevlek. "Sounds good, Mr. Richards." He moved to Sevlek, "Sir, I know it's small time stuff and I don't need to inform you about when remote sensing platforms malfunction."
Sevlek regarded the other man for a moment before speaking. "I am certain that you had ample justification for informing and not letting the interim S.C.E. Liaison handle it." He paused as he moved closer to the console and began reading, "There is an issue with the platform's communications systems?"
Andrenicus frowned slightly as he responded, "Yes, sir. All of them. The primary, secondary and tertiary systems are all on the fritz. Mr. Richards," David nodded towards where the young ensign was sitting, "and I have been trying various things from here while the Tuskegee> is en route and will arrive in five hours. Nothing we've tried is working so far."
Sevlek nodded, "Understood." He turned in the direction of his office and stopped, adding, "Tomorrow, I would like to discuss additional staffing considerations. There are many positions that will be vacant even with the majority of the personnel remaining aboard the station."
Andrenicus nodded, "Of course. Also, would you like me to speak to Lieutenant Gillo about permanent domicile assignments for the staff? Many of them have been sharing guest quarters."
Sevlek nodded, "It is standard practice to assign junior officers to shared quarters. Please inform Lieutenant Gillo that I am authorizing our staff's junior officers their own quarters. Many of them will be working on compartmentalized data and assignments and if they choose to work in their quarters, I would prefer if they work without disturbance from bunkmates."
"Understood, Admiral. I'll get in touch with Lieutenant Gillo and make the necessary arrangements."
Sevlek nodded and left the area to head to his quarters.
