Sevlek continued in the turbolift after the others got out. He needed to report to the Security Council, immediately. Once the lift arrived on deck 4, he left it and went through all necessary security checks.
He was cleared and entered the primary operations area. Newly equipped with a large floor-based holoprojector that could display any part of space in a 3-dimensional view. He nodded to the lieutenant who was currently serving as the duty chief for the day and went into his office.
As he sat down he said, "Computer, open a level 10 encrypted subspace channel to Councillor T'Latrek in the Palais de la Concorde."
The computer chirped, "Establishing subspace link."
After another few moments, the computer spoke again, "Link established."
The screen shifted from the Great Seal of the United Federation of Planets to the face of an aggitated secretary who spoke without looking up, "Councillor T'Latrek's office. I'm sorry, but the councillor is unavailable at the moment. May I take a message or transfer you to the automated recording system?"
sevlek raised a brow, "I will speak with T'Latrek now. She is expecting this communication."
The human woman looked up, "Oh, my apologies Admiral Sevlek. I'll notify the councillor immediately."
Sevlek nodded to the woman who then transferred him to a holding screen with the seal of the Federation located on it. After a few seconds Councillor T'Latrek's face replaced the seal, "Admiral, the Crown Prince from C'hakilia is already here. We have been waiting for you to contact us."
The Vulcan Admiral began to speak, "I have presented all terms of the treaty to the Krazzle. THey have agreed to return all star systems and to give 2,000 metric tonnes of each of the primary resoucres we discussed in exchange for the system they lost to the C'hakilia government." T'Latrek raised an eyebrow and the C'hakilian Crown Prince frowned.
Crown Prince Yinsil frowned for a few more seconds, then spoke, "I have strict orders from my father and the Foreign Ministry." Another pause, as if what he was saying was somehow giving him an abhorrent taste in his mouth, "We will not return that star system to them, under any circumstances short of a renewed war."
T'Latrek responded firt, "Your Highness. It is illogical to so casually condemn all of the C'hakilians in the custody of the Krazzle so casually, even for a system so extraordinarily rich in natural resources."
Sevlek agreed with the coucillor, but understood the tactical position the C'hakilian government was now in. The system in question had been the backbone of the military-industrial complex of the Krazzle government for nearly 40 years now. One system accounted for an estimated 67% of the materials used in starship construction for the Krazzle military. The C'hakilians had a firm grasp on that planet with nearly 45% of their standing fleet and ground forces in that system alone. "Perhaps you should speak to the Foreign Minister and your father, Your Highness. Discuss the merits of such an exchange. If not for any other reason than to allow the individuals on Starbase 400 more time to ascertain the true motives of Ra' Granline."
Crown Prince Yinsil nodded, "Very well, admiral. I will do that. Good luck to you and those people serving you."
Sevlek nodded to the C'hakilian as the communication was closed. He stood and copied the conversation onto a quantum-encoded isolinear chip. As he was placing the chip in the storage compartment, the deck plates near him vibrated with unusual intensity.
