Mission: Mission 87 - Disaster
Location: Captain's Ready Room
Timeline: MD 1, 1400 hours, following "Getting Underway"

USS Ark Royal, Main Bridge

With the Ark Royal underway and set on course for their destination of Hunster II, Jack decided to take the oppurtunity to brief the Captain on the ship's status. He got up from the Ops station and made his way to the Captain's Chair.

"Sir, If I can have a few moments of your time, I need to bring you up to speed on a few matters," Jack advised him.

Coleman looked up from the padd he was working on and said, "Alright, we can have a chat in my Ready Room. C'mon."

Coleman got up from his command chair and lead him into the Ark Royal Ready Room. It was smaller than most Ready Rooms due to the fact that it was an Ambassador Class Starship, but it did Coleman well. As the door shut behind him and Solomon, he turned to look at the other man and asked, "Alright, what do we have Jack?"

Jack activated the PADD and began to highlight the status of various departments on board the ship. "Well, the ships in good shape apart from a few areas," he began "The Tactical Department reports full readiness, although personally I'm hoping we won't need to see any military action. I can happily report that the Operations Department is in full working order and I've had team backing up Engineering in getting extra Transporter Buffers installed as well as installing Auxiliary Power Generators in all of the Transporter Rooms, including the Cargo Bays."

Jack paused at that moment before coming across the next points on his checklist. "Captain L'Verrum has confirmed the Science department is in full flow and will act upon the planets situation once we have more information. I've given priority to the Science Department for all of the Sensor Arrays, apart from Tactical use. However we do need a full time Chief Engineer down in Engineering for the duration of the mission," he finished, highlighting the main issue on board.

Coleman looked over his padd for a moment. He knew who he wanted to be Chief Engineer, as it was the obvious choice of the matter. "Jack, I would actually like you to be the full time Chief Engineer on this mission, for the Ark Royal. While Lieutenant Wooldridge would be an obvious choice, he hasn't been onboard long and you have seniority. I want you to take him under your wing and teach him what you know."

Jack nodded in accordance with Coleman's orders. He understood the seniority ranking and also felt he could be effective from there as well. "Very well, I'll head down to Main Engineering after finishing up here," he advised.

Coleman looked through the manifest of personnel and material and thought for a minute. "while we're still underway, lets go ahead and have operations replicate some more transporter pattern enhancers and shunt some more power down to the transporters. Have Main Engineering work on getting everything with the transporters ready. I don't want to lose anyone due to some transporter malfunctions."

"Understood. While I realise the Admiral's orders are to assist the planets population, my suggestion for beaming them to safety was meant as a short term measure whilst the fleet look to assist the planets population. I have also arranged for Cargo Bay Two to be setup as a temporary living space. Fortunately on a ship this big, space is vast," Jack explained.

Coleman remembered back to the meeting with Admiral Bremer. He said that if the people wanted to go down with the planet, they would be allowed to. But, then, he remembered back to the time the Borg destroyed his homeworld and wished that there was someone to come and save the day.

"I understand the Admiral's sentiments. But, if at the last minute, the world starts to break apart and those people start crying out for help, then help will be waiting for them. Coordinate with Dr. Brislan on the Mercy, as well as the ships in the rest of the fleet. If a signal is received, I want every single one of our ships using EVERYTHING we have to bring people on board our ships. Understood?" Coleman said.

Jack nodded in agreement as Coleman made it clear that he wanted the fleet ready to begin evacuating the planet if things went bad. "I understand sir. I'll also contact Dr. Brislan to see what we can do regarding medical assistance for the evacuees and survivors," Jack explained. He also mentally reminded himself to go down to Engineering after the meeting.

Coleman nodded, taking everything in. "Alright, if there's nothing else, you may be dismissed to Engineering. Good luck." Coleman gave a sly smile.

Jack nodded as he got up from his chair, PADD in hand and headed for the doorway. "Thank you sir... If you need me I'm in Engineering..." He said, leaving the Ready Room and walking across the bridge to the turbolift.
