Sevlek stepped off of the turbolift and checked in via the VIP sections required security procedures. Andrenicus and Zandusky did not accompany him to this meeting, as they were occupied with various assignments at the moment.
After clearing the checkpoint, the Vulcan Admiral walked through the threshold directly to the conference room he'd been summoned to. He entered to find only T'Latrek and Krim waiting for him. They were discussing the Typhon Pact's most recent skirmish with a Federation Relief Convoy on its way to the most need world in the C'hakilian Empire, as well as the upcoming vote to official establish the C'hakilian Empire as a protectorate of the Federation.
Both of the Councillors stood as the Vulcan entered the room, an unusual sign of respect from individuals who were not required to do such a thing. He nodded as they stood and spoke before either of them did, "I received your request marked urgent to present myself here. What, may I ask, is the nature of this urgency?"
Krim looked at T'Latrek and she nodded, he looked back to Sevlek and began explaining. "The most recent attack on one of the relief convoys was much larger and more involved than the previous attacks. Rather than the 2 or 3 escorts used in the strike, there were 8 ships involved. Ranging from escort all the way up to heavy cruiser."
Krim Aldos paused and T'Latrek picked up, "The Security Council held an emergency subspace session one hour ago, at the behest of President Matthews, to discuss how to better respond to these strikes. It would be difficult to declare war when the Typhon Pact's leadership insists that the strikes are the actions of ship or battle group commanders that are doing it of their own accord."
"Increased escort presence is an option that I'm sure you've considered. There alternatives to that as well. Simply forgo the usage of cargo vessels and have the relief materials transported via the cargo holds of combat vessels. The amount of cargo will be significantly reduced, but it will be less likely to be destroyed." Sevlek paused, as if considering something, "A more direct response would be to assemble a rapid strike special operations force and strike wherever these assaulting vessels berth after one of their raids."
Krim nodded slowly as he looked at an empty spot on the table, "The later is an idea I would actively support."
The Bajoran glanced at his Vulcan counterpart and she spoke, "Such a direct approach could be misconstrued as a declaration of war."
Krim Aldos smirked, "They can't say we are declaring anything if we're assaulting individuals that are not acting on the order of any government."
T'Latrek nodded, "Indeed. However, one must be prepared for the possibility that the entire endeavor has been a ploy to provoke this exact response." The Vulcan Councillor looked at Sevlek, "You may go Admiral. We will discuss this issue further and inform you of our decision."
Sevlek nodded and stood. "Very well, councillors."
The Vulcan Flag Officer left the conference room and returned to the office suite where his work awaited.
