Talking aboard the new guy

Just after Colonel Pike left, Mike got the word that a new member of the crew had come aboard via shuttle. Lieutenant Colonel Damian Keller Highsmith, Janice's new Chief of Staff. Mike sent a quick message to him and advised him to be aboard the Pegasus tomorrow for the trip to Earth. Mike wanted to get to know his wife`s...his XO`'s new Chief of Staff. He knew Lieutenant Colonel Highsmith had been the Marine CO aboard the USS New Jersey prior transferring to Starbase 400, but unfortunately his Starfleet Record hadn't arrived yet...and with everything going on he didn't have time to download it.

But, this got Mike to thinking. He already had his own Chief of Staff, Captain Greenwood, however the role...the job of the Chief of Staff hadn't been fully ironed out yet. With Ryan, Mike had allowed him to get his own ship's business tended to first. Decommissioning the Avenger and getting the new Avenger-A commissioned had taken most of Captain Greenwood's time.

Mike grabbed a PADD and took down a few notes. One, to get Mr. Highsmith's Starfleet Records pulled. Two, to meet with Captain Greenwood, Lieutenant Colonel Highsmith, and Lieutenant General Bremer...once they picked her up on Earth...and decide on some official duties for the Chief of Staff positions. However one thing Mike did decide to do was to assigned Mr. Highsmith command of the USS Kearsarge. Not only would this keep the Intrepid Class ship assigned to SB400's Marines, but would allow him to handle any assigned duty Janice saw fit. Besides, it would also allow for one more ship to be fielded if needed and with the current state of affairs between the Federation/Klingon alliance and the members of the Typhon Pact...specifically the Romulans, Tholians, and Gorn...this could prove to be a much needed tactical and strategic asset.

After finishing this notes, the Admiral put the PADD to the side with others he was taking aboard the Pegasus in the morning, then looked over the latest tactical map showing the Saratoga's, Vanguard's, and Endeavor's locations. He know Colonel Pike would be speaking to those COs now about rendezvous locations prior to heading for the Talos Star Group and he was satisfied all was well in hand with that.

He picked up his mug of raktijno to find it empty, then set it back on his desk. He was hungry, but wanted to get as much planning and data out of the way before taking a break for food.
