Jewel had kissed David goodbye and told him he would see him in a couple of days. She then walked out of there quarters and headed for the turbo lift. "Docking Port 12," Jewel ordered as the doors closed behind her and began to move towards its destination. After a few moments the lift came to a stop and the doors opened again.
Taking a deep breathe she exited and walked down the corridor until she arrived at Docking Port 12 where the USS Sutherland was docked. She looked at the ship and smiled, she walked toward the docking port doors.
"Welcome back General," a security officer replied. "Thank you Ensign," Jewel replied back as she entered the ship.
USS Sutherland
She walked down the corridor as the officers she passed stopped and Saluted the General she smiled as she walked. She entered the turbo lift, "Bridge," she replied as the doors closed behind her.
A few moments later the doors opened and she walked out "General on the bridge," her operations officer replied as everyone went to attention. "At ease, and everyone to there stations." Jewel replied as she walked over to her seat and sat down.
"Power up all systems, and contact Starbase 400," Jewel ordered as the ship powered up all her systems. "Channel Open sir," came the reply. "USS Sutherland to Starbase 400 requesting permission to disembark." Jewel replied.
"USS Sutherland this is Starbase 400 you are clear for departure, God Speed Starbase 400 out." Came the reply from the docking master.
"Helm, disengage all docking clamps and morns then back us out at 1 quarter impulse until we clear the stations doors." Jewel ordered. "Aye sir," came the reply. The docking clamps and morns where released and the ship started to slowly back up and once they were clear turned slowing to face the doors. The ship moved slowly as the docking bay doors opened, once the Sutherland was clear of Starbase 400 she looked at her helmsman.
"Set course for Earth, and engage slipstream drive." She ordered. "Aye sir," came the reply. "Course set," he added. "Engage," Jewel replied as the ship began to move and then went into slipstream. "Four and a half hours until we reach Earth, slipstream is stable sir," came the reply from the helmsman.
"Understood, I'll be in my ready room for now notify me when we get closer to Earth." Jewel stated as she stood up. "Aye sir," came the reply.
Jewel walked into the ready room and sat down with a cup of coffee and looked around. She decided she get some reports done and go over final preparations for the funeral before her arrival. This was going to be the hard part. But she knew that after the funeral and in two days David would arrive with the USS Saratoga so they can go on there honeymoon in Australia. She just sat there doing some work.
