Mission 85 - Q-uality Time Aboard Starbase 400
Location: Deela's Quarters
Timeline: After Troubled
Jewel decided that she wanted to see her old friend Deela, they really never got a chance to really talk before she left on the last mission. She made her way down the corridor to Deela's quarters. Once she reached it she straighten out her uniform wiped her eyes before she rang the door chime.
Deela answered the door and smiled at Jewel, "Hi, come on in? Deela led her to the couch, "How are you?"
She walked in, "Things could be better right now," Jewel stated as she sat down. "If it's not one thing it's another." Jewel added as she really wasn't herself at the moment even after talking to the counselor.
"Tell me about it. Raivyn is asleep so I have the time to listen." She thought talking to a friend would be better.
She looked at her, "Well on top of everything that happened or is going on just got some terrible news from my Aunt back on Earth. I don't know how much more I can take. I have a wedding to plan, and the wedding is in a couple weeks." She stated frustrated almost in tears again.
Deela put her hand on hers, "What's news is that?"
Sitting there quiet for a moment as tears began to run down her face, "My children Jay and Liberty were on there way back here for the wedding," Jewel began taking a breathe trying not to break down. "They were heading to Vulcan first to drop off a passenger there. Something went terribly wrong on the freighter, and right as the escape pods were launching the freighter exploded which caused the escape pod to crash land on Vulcan and...." Jewel said as more tears ran down her face.
"They were ejected from the escape pod....they found there bodies. They were killed intently on impact." Jewel finished now bawling.
Deela hugged her. Jewel's emotions engulfed Deela's being. She could feel every bit of her pain. She didn't say a word for a moment, letting her get it out. After a few minutes, Deela spoke, "I'm so sorry Jewel. I wish I had the words to make you feel better but I don't. I still think about Jim and it's been ten years since he passed away. The pain does get easier but it never goes away. I don't know what I would do if it was my kids. I'd be a wreck." Even though she's Vulcan, her Betazoid side keeps her humanity in check.
"I know it will, but what the worst part of it all, last night when I found out, I was hurt and angry. I decided to go to the holodeck to calm down but David decided to follow me which made me very angry cause I wanted to get away from everyone for awhile to get in control. With him following me....I snapped bad." she said as tears ran down her face.
"I yelled at him and threw him across the room...really not realizing what I did until about a half hour later." She said looking at her then looking down. "I let my anger get the best of me....I about lost him too. But we made up." Jewel stated.
"At least you know he really does love you. If he didn't, he would have walked away." Deela leaned over and grabbed a tissue, handing it to Jewel, "I would suggest though that you talk to him about it, explain to him how you handle certain situations so that he knows the next time to give you space. Communication is very important." Deela realized that her counselor side emerged and she was lecturing her on marriage when she is mourning for her kids. "Sorry. I guess once a Counselor, always a Counselor."
She kinda chuckled at that last statement, "I know Deela, after I had calmed down I went back to our quarters and talked to him....I apologized for what I had done and he forgave me, told him when I am angry to give me space. He understood, we usually talk about everything just last night was one of those 'I am in one of those moods' night." Jewel said as she wiped her eyes.
"No wonder I like coming to you and talking to you," she smiled a bit as Deela always made her feel better. She always seem to feel more comfortable around Deela then anyone else. "Oh, I wanted to tell you this before but keep forgetting to tell you. Were expecting a little boy soon," Jewel stated as one good thing she was looking forward to in this whole mess.
"I guess congratulations are in order." But that still wasn't going to make her loss any easier. "Um, what arrangements have you made for your kids? I'm asking because if you need help with arrangements, I am there for you."
"Thanks Deela, I have talked with Mike and after the Wedding I am going back to Earth for a few days to lay them to rest. Everything should be ready by then." She stated as she looked at her.
"Okay then. If you need to talk again, you know where to find me." Deela smiled.
"Thanks Deela for being a good friend," Jewel said with a small smile and hugged her. "I am going to go rest for a bit then try to get some work done." Jewel added as she stood up wiping her eyes.
Deela stood up as well and walked her to the door, "Good."
She gave her one more hug then walked out the door, she walked down the corridor to the turbo lift. "Diplomatic Office," she ordered as the doors closed and began to move. A few moments later the doors opened and she walked down the corridor. Once she arrived she entered she looked at Sasha, "I don't want to be disturbed for awhile." Jewel said as she walked into her office and sat down.
