1,311 words; about a 7 minute read

Mission: Mission 83 - Recovery
Timeline: After return to SB400

After T'Lyn and them returned to Starbase 400 she looked at the Colonel, "Have a request, can we go to the Holodeck and do some training?" she asked as she felt the last mission she wasn't at her best as she could have been. She didn't feel like herself but just brushed it off like it was just due to the last mission. She wanted to do something she liked doing and that was combat training, both weapon and hand-to-hand combat.

The Col. looked at her, and said, ''That we can Major, but are you feeling alright?''

She looked at him and raised her eyebrow, "Yes I am fine, just the last mission was stressful, just feel I didn't do my best." she said as she looked at him not sure why he asked her that question.

Looking directly at the Major, Col. Hurd replied, "I can understand Major, i really can. but first could you tell me why you felt you did not do your best?"

She looked at him for a moment, "Felt distracted, getting strange readings through my mind that distracted me." she said as she hated her telepathic ability especially around Romulans. They kept walking down the hallway to the turbo lift.

''Major'', Col. Hurd said, ''we can do those drills as you requested, and i promise these drills will help with what you are feeling, however what would help more, and this is a suggestion, not an order, is talking about it. ''You know, i may be you're CO, but i am also your friend.''

She looked at him for a moment, trying to understand the last part he had said to her. Since she was a Vulcan she didn't need 'Friends,' but at that particular moment she needed a friend. "Alright," she stated as she took a deep breath.

"Several years ago, shortly after graduating the Academy. I was sent on a Recon like this one of sorts to Romulan Space to rescue a fellow crewmember and comrade." She started as she took a deep breathe. "Everything seemed to be going good. Until I screwed up and jeopardized the mission. I was caught and torchered in ways you probably wouldn't think possible. It was like that for almost a year before they sent someone to rescue me and my commanding officer. Who by that time was dead, I was the only survivor." she said a she paused, she kept walking at this point.

"Going back there, brought back those memories, which caused me to lock up. I could have jeopardized us again...well maybe I didn't I don't know." She said as she at that point lost control of her emotion and tried to gain control again. Ever since then she hasn't been herself, Vulcan wise.

Taking in what the Major told him, Col. Hurd said, ''Major I do not pretend to know what you went through in that place, and it would be wrong of me to do so, but may i impart a story quite similar to your's?''

She looked at him as they have reached the holodeck, she punched in her favorite Klingon holonoval training program that helps her relieve stress and gets her mind back on whats at hand. They entered and stood their the program was on pause for a moment until the Colonel was ready.

"You may," she said as she stood their looking at him still trying to understand everything around her. She then looked down for a moment feeling like she was weak as she told someone she barely knew and told him everything that happened. She never told anyone other then the people who knew she even had that part classified in her file because she really didn't want anyone knowing what had happened unless she decided to tell that person.

Drawing in his breath, and his face going completly devoid of emotion, the Colonel asked, ''Major, what do you know of the battle of AR-558 during the Dominion War.''

She looked at him "yes a little bit," she said as she knew by the expression on his face that it wasnt good. "Please explain Colonel." She asked as it got her wondering what happened.

Looking away from the Major, and rubbing the scar running down his face, the battle going on again in his head, he said, ''Major i was there.'' I was in the most horrendous fighting you can imagain.'' I saw many people, good people, including my closest friends, get killed, cut down like sythes of grass.'' Pausing to wipe the sweat that had started forming on his forhead, he contiued.

''Major, it was during one of the Jem'Hadar's repeated charges that i was captured, taken back to their camp, and tourterd in ways most people cant imagine.''

She looked at him not knowing what to say, she felt guilty. She turn and walked away a bit not facing him. "I am sorry Colonel," she said quietly but enough for him to hear her. She began to sweat started to form on her head. She knew something else was not right but she just brushed it off.

Turning to face the Major, Col. Hurd said, ''Major it is ok.'' And the noticing the sewat that was on the Major's face, he said, ''Major, whats wron? Are you okay?''

She looked at him she knew what was happening but she didnt want to tell the Colonel. "I am fine sir." She said as she didnt like to reveal a personel issue with the Colonel or anyone. She knew she is going threw Pon Farr. But it just started so she knew she could control it for awhile longer. "Just feels hot in here," she stated.

Looking at the Major, and every instinct in him saying something was indeed wrong, he said, ''Major, the climate in this room is mild, and although i can not order you to tell me what is wrong, and indeed, even if i could i would not, I know something is wrong, so again, as your friend, i am asking you what is wrong.''

She walked farther into the program not looking at him, as she thought she could control her problem it started to get worse. She could not control it anymore she fought the erge to go after the Colonel. "I am fine," she yelled as she then attempted to leave the holodeck bit the door was locked. "unlock this door" she growled at the Colonel.

''Standing there, being yelled at, the Colonel said in a loud yet calm voice, ''Major, there is something wrong, and i will not release the lock on this door untill you tell me what it is. He then added, ''Do not tell me everything is fine, because i know it is not.''

She closed her eyes then collasped on the floor it was coming harder to control, "Alright, I amgoinv through Pon Farr, I have to mate with someone or I'll die." She said as she was fightting the erge to go after the Colonel it was getting harder by the minute.

His features relaxing, he walked over to Major and knelt down, and said, '' Major, what can i do?''

She looked at him, "well if you dont want to mate then the only thing you can do, is take me to sick bay. The doc I as the only other one who knows how to stop it medically." She started as her breathing and sweating intensifies.

Hurd looked at the Major and said, '' Okay Major, lets get you to sickbay''. He held his hand out, and hoped that she did not notice the slight redish tent his face had turned.

she looked at him and nodded as she got up and they headed toward sickbay.
