Mission: Mission 75 - Time of Change

"Station Log, Stardate 64940.2. I await word on the mission of the USS Endeavor. Of course, I know the Endeavor is operating under cloak and subspace silence, but the waiting is...tough when you're sitting behind a desk and not on the mission yourself. I've also just assigned the USS Vanguard to rendezvous with the USS Saratoga to assist her....but I find myself wishing I was going myself"

Mike paused as he leaned back in his chair. "I'm also getting worried about Janice. She isn't back to the station yet, and all Starfleet Command is telling me is that she is still being debriefed. Shouldn't take this long...perhaps I need to go back to Earth and get her myself." End Log.

Mike stood up and ordered another Raktijno from the replicator. As the beverage appeared, his door buzzer sounded.

"Enter" He said. As the door opened, Commander Pike entered Mike's Office.

"Ah, Lee, come on in, have a seat. Care for a drink?" Mike welcomed Pike in.

Lee noded walking and took a seat:"Thank you sir, a Raktijino is fine with me sir."

Mike then took a seat in his chair and handed Lee his drink. "So how can I help you?"

"I have heard that our new CMO is a Romulan." Lee asked.

Mike nodded as he took a sip of his Klingon Coffee, "Yes it's true. I have to admit, it came as a surprise to me as well."

"Are you sure that's for the best sir?"

Mike paused, "I did some digging and she seems trust worthy. Commander Tamarith also checked her out. It is a bit odd given the our current relationship with the Romulans. Still, not everyone is shaped like the mold."

Lee nodded "It's always good to do some digging sir but like you said with our current relationship with the Romulans, I have a feeling some of the crew may not be too happy with our new CMO."

Mike returned the nodded as he took another sip of his drink. "I've already received one transfer request and three official protests, but I believe the majority of the crew with be professional about things. I've already asked Captain Harrison to keep an eye out, just in case a crew member or civilian does more than that."

Lee replied, "Hopefully none of them will be silly enough to cause problems."

"Agreed." Mike paused a moment, thinking about his words, "It's not like we don't already have Romulans on the Station with Commander Tamarith and her crew, but they have been here served along side us in battle, defending the Station from Romulan attack. I hope it doesn't take another threat against the crew for them to respect her, or in turn for her to respect them. The Romulan people have been though a lot lately...loss of their homeworld, reaffirming the Typhon Pact, some of their ships, crews, and civilians defecting to the Federation. The last thing we need to do is project the wrong message. We don't want war with the Romulans, and we've even opened our borders to anyone wanting to peacefully live within them, however we will protect and defend our space and people."

Mike stood up and looked out the window. "I just wish I knew what the Romulans, and the Pact's real infections are. Mutual defense and support as they claim, or are they gearing up for a war against us the Klingons."

Lee looked towards the Admiral "Who only knows what the Romulans are up to sir."

"No one. As usual the Romulan Government has it's agenda, the Romulan Military has theirs, and the Tal Shiar has theirs too. If they all get on the same page, it could me real trouble." Mike replied before turning back around to face Pike.

Lee nodded then rose from his seat "Time will only tell how things will play out sir. If there is nothing else then I shall go leave."

"Just keep an `eye` out for the Endeavor. Thanks Lee." Mike replied, as the serious tone eased some.

Lee nodded:"I will keep an eye out for the Endevor sir." Lee turned and walked away.
