Mission: Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: USS Vanguard - Main Bridge
Timeline: Concurrent with present mission

Lt Commander Torilla Yamaguchi felt like a caged animal who
had been sitting around for far too long and not doing anything
worth doing as she had been in the center chair now for the last
several hours and she was tired.

The USS Vanguard was about a day or so out from her destination and she had heard no word on any plans for the extraction operation.

Captain Clifford had walked onto the bridge as Torilla rose to her
feet, also she did not announce the Captain's presence on the bridge as she recalled what he had said to his own bridge crew on the Kearsarge in the last mission they had shared together.

She turned to face him as he approached her. "Captain. I'd like to go over our plan... if we have one sir."

Andrew nodded. He wasn't entirely sure of where she was coming from, but it was right to hear her out. He also thought it best to open with the simple fact that this was not his command, and although he may have ideas, it was the Admirals decision, not his. "At the moment, the Admiral has not seen fit to brief us all. But you can rest assured that when she is ready we will al be informed. What ideas do you have for the extraction?" He finished with the question. Yamaguchi was a good tactical officer and would no doubt have been working out various possibilities.

Yamaguchi looked at the older officer as she sighed softly. "My only idea is a cloaked shuttle and stealth suits, reinforced for combat... the extraction team... infiltration will be much harder and we will need to find a way to communicate with our man on the ground.... let him know we're around so to speak in a manner he will assume its us and not a Romulan eavesdropper."
Yamaguchi paused as she considered the rest of her statement. "Sending our people in wearing Romulan uniforms and the like as well as getting altered will tip the Romulan's off to something going on.... also... we have the Reman's to worry about... they can see in pitch black as well as we can in daylight and they are also psionic as well... I most defiantly won't be able to go down there... My Hallian physiology will cause me to act like an old style lighthouse..."

Andrew paused beside the centre seat, “The short answer is I don’t know what arrangements have already been put in place. I would expect a coded signal to have been arranged already. As for extraction, despite us wanting to keep our presence a secret, like you I don’t see how unless we can beam in somewhere quiet and undetected. Fortunately we can out run a D’deridix cruiser, so if there any in the immediate area we will leave them behind fairly quickly. It’s the patrolling cruisers that give me cause for concern. Don’t worry about your physiology, we will want in an out as fast as possible and people most able to be invisible and silent will be used.”

"Any other ideas are outside our mission parameters. We can't be seen..." she sighed. "The Romulan's can't know we're here..."

Andrew sat down. He looked up at Yamaguchi still standing there. “I understand your frustration, Lt Commander. Remember, our job is 95% boredom and 5% manic action. I’m a tactical officer like you, not a spy. While I will do my best to get the ship in and out safely, I’m going to leave the actual mission to those better in the know.” He paused then added, “You are relieved Lt Commander. Go and get some rest, I’ll see you in a few hours”

Yamaguchi knew better then to argue with him, besides she was tired and whats more, she knew it. "One thing though before I go, we do have the specs for a small cloaking device which can be mounted onto a shuttle, we have Captain Weatherlight to thank for this sir, he was part of the team that put the design together at Starbase 375 a few years ago." she explained. "If nothing else works out sir... I can build a cloak and then fit it to one of our type nines or one of the type elevens... "

Andrew nodded, "Ok Give it some thought. But for now get some food and sleep. See you in a few hours."

"Aye sir." and with the conversation out of the way, she turned and departed the bridge, the picture of professionalism as she decided she was hungry.
