Mission:
Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: Guest Officer's Quarters, U.S.S. Lexington
Timeline: Concurrent
Slade sat down at the desk and keyed in the secured encryption sequence that was natively hidden in the computer cores and communications systems of every Federation Starship. That code, triggered a private comm channel that couldn't be recorded or eavesdropped on since they weren't logged with the ship's databases. He leaned back in the chair and waited, and a few moments later the screen image changed.
"Sir, do we want the experimental warbird completely destroyed?"
The other man nodded, "Yes. The Admiral wants it destroyed. Use the sequential lateral alteration commands in the operating system. They cannot be allowed to launch that ship. We've already got all of the technical data available."
"Am I to keep this to myself or brief the other members of the team, or even Admiral Bremer?" Slade knew his job well and had no compunctions with carrying out orders, but he didn't ask to come on this mission to partake in another mission at the same time.
Colonel Andrenicus leaned forward, "Admiral Bremer has clearance to know about this, Admiral Sevlek added him to the list of brief recipients, he should be receiving the brief in the next hour, probably around the time the Lexington reaches Chaltok VI. I'm sure he'll either want to speak to you, or the Admiral when he receives it."
Slade rubbed his temples. "Understood, Colonel."
The Marine nodded and the screen shut off.
Matthews stood from the chair and walked to the replicator, "Tea, chamomile, hot and sweetened."
The replicator lit up as the requested beverage was materialized from the coded date. He picked it up and smelled it. Letting the aroma relax him, he took the mug to the couch and sat down with the PADD that the newly received brief was on. Some light reading, before committing acts of espionage against a foreign nation was always a good thing.
