USS Vanguard

Mission: Mission 83 - Recovery
Location: USS Vanguard
Timeline: 40 minutes before the mission begins

After the senior staff was over, Deela decided to board the Vanguard to get a feel of the ship. She went to the bridge and eased herself into the command chair. She looked around in awe. She had forgotten what it was like to be on the bridge of a Sovereign class ship.

Alex wanted to talk to Deela so she went looking for her but when she got to OPS, she wasn't there. "Computer, locate Vice Admiral T'Lar."

"Vice Admiral T'Lar is on the USS Vanguard."

Alex found her where the computer said that she was. Alex approached her and sat down next to her. They didn't speak for a few minutes. Alex broke the silence, "Brings back memories, doesn't it?"

Deela nodded her head, "It's not the Essex but close to it."

"What's wrong Deela?" Alex was concerned.

"This is going to sound strange but I am a little nervous about this mission. In less than an hour, we are leaving on this mission. Hopefully, Bremer and I will not have to play it by ear as he mentioned at the mission debriefing."

"It'll work out, it always does." Alex wasn't quite sure how to bring up another subject. "I was wondering how your session with the Counselor went?"

"What needed to be accomplished, was. It helped a great deal. Thank you for encouraging me to go talk to someone. I am used to working things out on my own." Deela looked at Alex, "You have been a good friend."

"And you have been a great friend and mentor as well. We're even." Alex joked.

Deela stood up, "I should get ready for this mission. You probably should as well."

"You're right. I need to tell Paul that we are leaving on another mission. I feel so bad. I'll have to make it up to him eventually."

"I'm sure he understands. Besides, I am sure that Racheal will make your leaving easier."

"Racheal, now that is one interesting girl. But he seems to really like her. She'll keep him busy while i'm gone. He probably won't even notice that I am gone."

"I doubt it. He loves you."

Alex nodded, "I know he does."

Deela walked towards the turbolift, "Alex, be safe, okay?"

Akex put her hand on Deela's shoulder, "You too. See you when we get back." With that, they entered the turbolift to get ready for the mission.
