Mission:
Mission 75 - Time of Change
Location: Admiral Bremer's Office
Timeline: Following Bremer's last post
ON:
Mike was at his desk when the door beeped. He said 'enter' and in stepped in Holly Gillo. She was beautiful with eyes that seem to invite people into her personality.
Mike stood up and welcomed her, "Welcome aboard Starbase 400. Please, have a seat." He motioned to a chair and took a seat.
According to your Starfleet records, you took time away from Starfleet in 2380? May I ask why, and why did you decide to return now?"
Entering into the office seemed to be the easy part and Holly knew it. Her warmth was a defense she put up when not sure of who she was going to be dealing with. Sure enough he bought it and so she nodded to him to acknowledge the welcome and sat down in the offered chair.
Just when she thought it was safe to let some of her guard down he asked the question that she knew he would have about her service to Starfleet. This caused a sigh to be issued before she calmly answered his question.
"I did take time away from Starfleet as it was necessary to do so. I have returned now because I am no longer needed where I was and am needed here now, Admiral. All I can assure you of is that I am of sound mind and fully capable of performing my duties when asked to do so."
Holly then grew silent waiting for his reaction and took the opportunity to adjust in the chair a bit. She was still getting reintegrated and still was finding just sitting and talking difficult to do, but she didn't let onto it knowing full well that any sign of weakness now on her part would but doubt in his mind and that wasn't acceptable to her.
Bremer could tell from the `sigh` and her answerless answer that Gillo didn't want to talk about her time away from Starfleet...
"As long as you are here, mentally and physically then I don't need any more explanation right now." He smiled hoping to put her more at ease.
"Have you had a chance to settled into your quarters yet?"
"No sir I've not. When I was told to report to you directly upon arrival I followed the directive without pause." She smiled a bit she could tell he was waiting for some visible sign that she was relaxed, " It is my greatest wish to show you that my time away from service only proved to make me a better officer not less of a one, sir. " Pausing for just a brief second she then added, "Besides, there is plenty of time to do that sir as I was told this is a long term assignment."
Mike smiled. He could see she was at least opening up a little, and being honest. He didn't need to be a Betazoid to `sense` that. Besides, her smile was warm and inviting. Mike also knew that if Janice was here, she'd pop him on the back for smiling at the beautiful young woman.
"Very good. I've asked Captain K`Temoc, our our Cadet Training Officer and acting XO while Lieutenant General Janice Fultian-Bremer is off the Station, to show you around. Our Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Commander Smith is on assignment and off the Station right now. If there is anything you may need, my door is always open."
Mike stood up and extended his hand, "Welcome to Starbase 400."
Holly stood as well when Mike did and shook his hand even though to her it was weird to do so. "Thank you sir. I look forward to serving." After that hand shake she took it as a dismissal from the office and walked out setting out on her latest adventure and assignment.
Mike watched her leave and leaned back in his chair. Now his thoughts drifted back to the Endeavor and Saratoga...
